Mre than 1,300 prductivity enhancements requested by ur custmers are included in this release. Here are the highlights: Dcument management highlights This release intrduces a new dcument management applicatin, Slid Edge Insight XT. Insight XT is a SharePint applicatin with a graphical user interface fr managing Slid Edge files and related design infrmatin. It retrieves infrmatin, lets yu visualize cmplex data relatinships, and prvides ut-f-the-bx wrkflws fr Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). SharePint supprts custmer specific prcesses and industry regulated prcesses. See Dcument management enhancements fr mre details as well as the enhancements t Slid Edge Embedded Client and Insight. Administratin highlights Slid Edge ffers three prduct data management integratin slutins. Each is packaged independently. When yu install Slid Edge, als install the prduct that matches yur license. With this design methd, yu can imprt assemblies int a single part file, merge r split parts, add new parts, and publish individual files fr drawing prductin. Slutin Manager, an ptinal tl that yu can use during synchrnus peratins t identify, and graphically cntrl, all affected mdel relatinships. Hle recgnitin, in which hles in imprted mdels becme editable hle features in Slid Edge with the new Hle Recgnitin cmmand. Multi-bdy mdeling is a design methd which uses mre than ne slid design bdy in a single file. In multi-bdy mdeling, yu can design many separate mdels in the same space and accrding t the same set f rules. This mdeling methd prvides the ability t mdel many cmpnents f an assembly as a single part r sheet metal file. When placing a multi-bdy part int an assembly, the resulting multiple bdies are represented as a single entry in Assembly Pathfinder and n a bill f materials. An entire assembly culd be represented as a single multi-bdy part. Smetimes the assembly is mre imprtant than the actual cmpnents that make up the assembly. Mving rdered chamfer and thread features t synchrnus Equal setback chamfers and external threads can nw be mved t synchrnus and remain editable as features. Hle recgnitin A new Recgnize Hles cmmand detects all hle candidates (circular r cnical cututs) and cnverts them t hle features. When yu select a design bdy, all hle candidates that are fund display in the Hle Recgnitin dialg bx. Similar hles are gruped tgether. Web netwrk as a base feature The Web Netwrk cmmand nw can be used as the base feature f a design mdel, allwing thin base features. In previus Slid Edge versins web netwrks required existing mdel gemetry. Hle placement techniques (synchrnus) New hle placement techniques are available in the synchrnus envirnment. Lck t plane When yu place tw hle ccurrences n the same face within the same instance f the cmmand, the plane autmatically lcks. All later ccurrences lck t the plane until verridden by the user. Midpint reference Aligns a hle with the midpint f an edge. Yu can use the M key t align the hle with the midpint n the highlighted edge. Upn hle placement, a hrizntal/vertical relatinship is created. Yu can n lnger dimensin t the midpint f an edge. Hle as a reference Aligns a hle with the axis f an existing hle. When yu pause the cursr ver an existing hle, the hle center pint highlights. Pressing the A key begins hld alignment. As yu mve the hle, alignment lines display n the face when the hle psitin is hrizntal r vertical with the existing hle axis. Yu can align the hle n ther faces in the mdel. As yu mve the hle n ther faces, the alignment lines als display. Yu may need t press the N key t highlight the edge n the face that is parallel t the alignment lines. Yu als can psitin the hle n a circular face. Thread features (synchrnus) The synchrnus Thread cmmand has been enhanced t enable placing a thread feature with a finite extent t bth ends f a cylinder. 15 What s New in Slid Edge ST5 Slutin Manager Smetimes face relatinships prduce an ver cnstrained cnditin. This cnditin can cause a synchrnus edit t fail r prvide unexpected results. Slutin Manager prvides yu with mre detail and actins regarding the slve f an ver cnstrained cnditin. Slutin Manager is designed t give the yu the ability t graphically interact with the mdel t cntrl all relatinships relevant t the current slve. The Slutin Manager buttns are n the Live Rules panel. The Suspend buttn is nw three buttns and is in a new lcatin n the Live Rules panel. Yu can suspend all Live Rules (1), dimensinal relatinships (2), and persisted relatinships (3). When yu suspend a relatinship categry, the buttn changes as shwn. Rund edit behavir When editing a rund, the rund axis can either flat r remain fixed. Yu can use the Rund Edit Behavir shrtcut cmmand t select ne f the fllwing ptins: Autmatic Fix Axis Flat Axis The default behavir is Autmatic. T learn mre, see Editing runds. Gemetry Inspectr enhanced The Gemetry Inspectr has been enhanced t imprve the quality f mdels. 19 What s New in Slid Edge ST5 Standard Parts enhanced Several enhancements have been made t Standard Parts. Standard Parts nw supprts InsightXT. T stre yur standard parts in InsightXT, run the Standard Parts Cnfiguratin Manager and select the Stre files in InsightXT ptin. Standard Parts nw has a delivery ptin fr Krean Standard (KS) standard parts in the machine library setup. Standard Parts nw delivers a limited set f DIN and ISO standard valve parts t use in assembly and pipe rutes. Standard Parts nw prvides links n the Startup menu under Slid Edge ST5 Standard Parts t the nline Installatin Guide and User Guide.pdf dcuments. The Custm Setup page in the installatin f the Standard Parts Administratr nw defaults t Master Part Files, which is the recmmended setting fr new standard part users. When Master Part Files is selected, additinal infrmatin fr this ptin is displayed in the Feature Descriptin area n the dialg bx. Replace in subassemblies Yu can select a part in the cmplete assembly (tp-level assembly as well as subassemblies). A part is lcated first when the cursr hvers ver it. If the part is als cntained in a subassembly, the subassembly is made available fr selectin thrugh QuickPick. The selectin can als be dne frm PathFinder. Replace All Occurrences A buttn n the cmmand bar in the select parts step selects the ccurrences t be replaced. The current Select Occurrences dialg bx is then cnverted int a buttn t extend the selectin t All ccurrences every time the buttn is clicked. The selectins are displayed in the Select clr. T learn mre, see Replacing parts in assemblies. Mirrr assembly cmpnents The functinality allws the user t Mirrr Cmpnents in Place abut a selected plane. The plane t mirrr the assembly cmpnents abut must exist prir t using the cmmand. Cmpnents symmetrical abut the mirrr plane will be rtated and n new ccurrence is created fr thse cmpnents. Cmpnents that are nn symmetrical abut the mirrr plane will be mirrred and a new cmpnent will be created. A table shwing which assembly cmpnents will be rtated and which cmpnents will be mirrred is shwn prir t cmmand executin. Shwn belw is the assembly pathfinder after the mirrr peratin. Mirrred and rtated cmpnents are shwn in the red bx. Terrain mdeling using Virtual Cmpnents Digital Terrain Mdels (DTM) are useful fr understanding hw buildings and equipment need t be psitined n a building site. 21 What s New in Slid Edge ST5 terrain using surveying data is beneficial in calculating where earth has t be added r remved t psitin new cnstructin cmpnents. In the Assembly envirnment, yu can use the Slid Edge Virtual Cmpnent Structure Editr t create part dcuments cntaining a slid bdy that represents an extremely large digital terrain mdel. T learn abut this new capability, see Creating a terrain mdel using Virtual Cmpnents. Insert an assembly cpy The Insert Assembly Cpy cmmand inserts the tp-level f ne assembly int anther assembly. All tp-level cmpnents in the parent assembly are cnsidered tp-level cmpnents in the child assembly. The cmmand selects tp level assembly files nly. It des nt select parts used in an assembly file. The result f this peratin is that the child assembly has the same tp-level ccurrence structure as the parent assembly. The parent assembly des nt have t be present t display the cmpnents nce the feature is created. It is needed nly fr update. Large assembly mdes Assemblies which were cnsidered large several years ag are easily manipulated using current cmputer hardware. Using the parameters listed belw, yu can specify the assembly file pen behavir accrding t yur definitin f a small, medium, r large assembly. These settings are defined by the number f unique cmpnents. The slutin can d ne f the fllwing: Layer face intersectin Bend silhuette Nte When placing the dimensin, yu can press I t switch between the different dimensin binding ptins available in QuickPick. Editing the bend angle updates the bind style between a layer face intersectin and a bend silhuette. The bind pint changes dynamically as yu change the angle. Symmetric dimensin edit The dimensin edit bx nw cntains a symmetric dimensin ptin. When editing the dimensin value, the end faces mve equal distance frm the dimensin center. Previusly, yu culd display the surface results r the slid results, but nt bth at nce. Example This part, which cntains surfaces united with slids using the Unite Bdies cmmand, was meshed with the General Bdies mesh type. Plate thickness Plate thickness is applied t surfaces using tw new ptins: In the Mesh dialg bx, yu can select the Shw surface results ptin t thicken a surface befre meshing the mdel. This is available fr 2D Surface meshes and fr Mixed Meshes. Yu can use table grups t keep similar data tgether n a single table page, which therwise may be scattered amng many table sheets. The prperties available fr creating grups are listed as clumn headings n the Data tab, as well as n the Clumns tab in mdel-derived tables. These clumns can be selected n the Grups tab t grup the data int categries f infrmatin. Items are included in a grup based n a value that matches data in the clumn selected t grup by. Yu can define headings fr each grup that yu create, and yu can specify where in the table these headings appear. Yu can apply bld, italics, and underline text frmatting t the headings. Text bx frmatting enhancements New frmatting ptins are available fr text bxes and text strings created with the Text cmmand.
