1 Since the beginning f Club La Santa (1978), its funder Ejlif Krgager wanted t build smething new in perfect harmny with the landscapes fund n the island f Lanzarte. His respect and admiratin fr envirnmental values, fund in each f the sprts prjects that have been prmted by Club La Santa, have fstered the respnsible practice f sprts in clse cntact with nature. All f its sprts events are designed with the utmst respect twards the envirnment, making them cmpatible with the cnservatin f the spaces in which they take place, taking all the necessary preventive measures t make them viable, giving the pssibility f experiencing unique landscapes t each f its participants. The 4-stage MTB race has been designed with the aim f ffering t all its participants the best curses in harmny with the envirnment, withut significantly affecting the nature in which it takes place. Frm Club La Santa, we want yu t feel the privilege and the wnder f the landscapes in which yu are ging t race in the cming days; but first, we want t give yu a series f envirnmental tips and regulatins, s that yu d nt put at risk special habitats f cnservatin which yu will pass by, as well as the natural resurces f the island f Lanzarte. 2 Guide t Gd Envirnmental Practices The 4-stage MTB race has been ascertained by the Cuncil f the Island Envirnment as favrably cmpatible with the means f prtectin f the prtected spaces f the Canary Islands Netwrk f Prtected Natural Spaces and the spaces f the Natura 2000 Netwrk. Belw is a guide t gd envirnmental practices accrding t the place where the test is held. The intentin f this guide is t cntribute t the cnservatin and disseminatin f bjectives and values f the prtected areas, in additin t infrming the rganizers, participants, cmpanins, etc. abut the imprtance f the prtected areas as essential places fr ur health and quality f life, amng thers. The disseminatin f this guide will help: - Minimize the pssible impact n natural and cultural resurces f the prtected spaces where this test is develped, cntributing t the experience f practitiners and rganizers f the test. - Cntribute t the fact that sprts practices carried ut in a prtected natural scenari add value t its develpment, in terms f invlvement in rural ecnmic plicies, cnservatin and assciatin t the image f a natural r natinal park. - Make the celebratin f these events cmpatible with the legitimate exercise f prperty, ecnmic activities and the enjyment f ther users. - Take advantage f this mbilizatin f peple and resurces t have a psitive impact n the sustainable develpment f lcal ppulatins linked t these territries. This will allw greater cmplicity between the practitiners f these sprts and the lcal ppulatin.

3 Cmmitment t gd behavir As a participant, I declare that my participatin Club La Santa 4-stage MTB race cmmits me t respect the place where it is celebrated fr its envirnmental sensitivity as well as by the wn regulatin f the Prtected Natural Space and the cnditins established by the Envirnmental Area f the Cabild de Lanzarte. I will respect and will keep in mind in the fllwing requirements. It is necessary t make the develpment f the test cmpatible with the cnservatin f values f the prtected areas, fr which it will be bligatry t cmply with the fllwing cnditins: I declare that my participatin in the 4-stage MTB race cmmits me t respect as much as pssible the place where it is celebrated due t its sensitivity t envirnmental prtectin, as well as by the wn regulatin f the Prtected Natural Area and the Special Cnservatin Znes. Fr these reasns, I will respect and keep in mind the fllwing bligatins: I will infrm my friends r relatives that accmpany me t enjy the event that they adhere t the established nrms and the infrmatin f the rganizatin. I will nt leave the rutes established and marked by the rganizatin under any circumstance. I prmise NOT t thrw away cntainers r waste, including rganic nes during the Test rute. If I have t leave any waste, I will d it thrugh the Vlunteers at the aid statins. During my race I will avid making nise, shuting r using any sund element that culd affect mainly the species f birds that are in a reprductive perid, especially the hubara (Chlamydtis undulata fuertaventurae). I will nt under any circumstance leave marks, signs r drawings n stnes r ther natural elements present in the rute. Nr will I cllect archaelgical, palentlgical and ethngraphic material. SPECTATORS: Spectatrs are an imprtant part f any sprting event, mainly t recgnize the effrt f the participants, but they als depend n the success f the event frm an envirnmental pint f view.

4 Therefre, the participants and rganizers want t transmit t the spectatrs the need t care fr and respect the prtected areas f the island. We ask all the spectatrs t remain in the areas indicated fr the event thrughut the duratin f it. Be respnsible with the waste. Bring it hme with yu r t the cllectin pints. It is strictly frbidden t cause alteratins r capture wildlife species and flra, r cause intentinal annyance twards them. The Canary Islands Netwrk f Prtected Natural Spaces and the spaces f the Natura 2000 Netwrk has made the necessary cnservatin measures t prevent the deteriratin f the habitats and the species present in these spaces, keeping them in a state f favrable cnservatin, accrding t the threats f deteriratin and destructin that weigh n them. Shwn belw are the sectins f the rute that run thrugh spaces belnging t the Natura 2000 Netwrk and infrmatin is prvided n the species present and that mtivated the declaratin as a space belnging t the Natura Netwrk Area f Special Cnservatin Malpaís del Cuchill ES N habitats f cmmunity interest are lcated here. Its surface is ccupied by a Ahulagar. Species f cmmunity interest Caralluma burchardii. (Annex II. 92/43/CEE) The caralluma, knwn as the cuernúa, is a species native t the Canary Islands, nly present n the islands f Lanzarte, Fuerteventura, islets f La Gracisa, Mntaña Clara, Alegranza and Lbs, in additin t Mrcc. It is lcated in stny as well as sandy envirnments, in refuge frm the prevailing winds.

5 It is a succulent with aerial stems, usually quadrangular that grw up t 45 cm, f variable clr frm brwn green t gray. The small bell-shaped flwers are purple brwn, star-shaped, the edges are cvered with hairs and the center is circular yellw. They give ff a putrid smell, t attract pllinating insects. The flwering f this species is scarce and staggered in time, since it depends n the weather cnditins. At this time it is in blm. In additin, the reptile species Galltia atlantica is als present, as well as the birds burhinus edicnemus, Chlamydtis undulata fuertaventurae, cursrius cursr and Pandin haliaetus. 6 Area f Special Cnservatin Ls Vlcanes ES The habitats f cmmunity interest present in this ASC ccupy a large area with different characteristics. The race will pass by tw areas: Therm-mediterranean scrub Natural lava fields This type f habitat crrespnds t the vlcanic surfaces resulting frm the recent eruptive activity. It includes lava surfaces f very varied mrphlgy, recent pyrclasts (especially lapilli and slag). These rcky substrates maintain the riginal eruptive mrphlgy that defines the landscape. The fauna f recent vlcanic territries is nt exclusive t this type f habitat, but cmmn with ther types f arid habitat like thse f the El Cuchill badlands. In the areas f xeric shrubs, yu can mainly find species that have develped a large number f adaptive strategies in rder t survive in adverse cnditins, such as the lack f water, high temperatures and inslatin. Euphrbias predminate these areas Freseeable evlutin Cnsidering the favrable status in regard t the area ccupied and the quality f the afrementined habitat in the previus sectins, and taking int accunt that there are n relevant threats r are freseeable significant negative impacts, the freseeable evlutin f the habitat is FAVORABLE, and its lng-term maintenance is assured, current cnditins maintained.
