FIELD TRIPS THRU THE LENS Sat. Aug Scavenger Hunt--Ft. Worth Stockyards & Sundance Square. Pull on your boots and spurs! Put on your Six-shooter! Saddle up! We're on the trail driving the herd to the Ft. Worth Stockyards. Since so many of us are into Digital, bring your own film. You need to get to the Stockyards by 8:30 am to beat the heat. Since I was there last, there is a parking fee no matter where you go and rather than worry about a time limit, we might as well park in the Visitors' Center Parking Lot and pay an all day parking fee of $5. So the head wrangler will meet you there and give you a list of your chores. At noon or thereabouts we'll chow down at Booger Red's in the Stockyard Hotel. We'll also use the hotel as a resting spot to get out of the heat. DIRECTIONS: I-30 west to I-35 north to 28th St. Exit. Go west to Main St. Turn left (south) on Main to Exchange St. Turn left. Yippee-yi-a! Git along little doggie! Head Wrangler, Dody Bracken Sat, Sept. 6 - National Championship Indian Powwow - Grand Prairie Sat. Oct Autumn Trails - Winnsboro, TX Fri. Sat.& Sun. Nov. 14,15,16 - Forbidden Gardens & Anahuac Nat. Wildlife Refuge - Katy The Forbidden Gardens is a project of a native Chinese man who settled in Katy, TX and became wealthy. He wanted to expose the Americans to his native land so he reproduced the Forbidden City in Beijing and also reproduced the army of buried soldiers in Xian. It is really something to see if you can't go to China. Anahuac was Patricia Steele's favorite place to photograph birds, alligators, etc. Katy is 10 miles west of Houston and Anahuac is just a little further east of Houston on the Gulf. Sat. Jan 17, Lake Tawakoni Dam STATE FAIR OF TEXAS PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION The State Fair of Texas Photography competition guidelines and registration form will soon be available on the web at Click on the Creative Arts Competition link. Only two entries are allowed this year. Photos should have been taken within the last 18 months. Entry fee is $4.00 per photograph. Registration must be received by August 7,
