AUGUST 20 - The Arboretum Field Trip Slide Show was presented. It was an unusual selection of double exposures and special effects photos. We all thank Dody Bracken for such a clever idea which added sparkle to our photographic skills. Huy Nguyen, a staff photojournalist at the Dallas Morning News, presented his unique sports photography. THE BIRD COMPETITION: Last chance to submits slides and prints for the Bird Competition. CONTEST - Turn in entries for the Candid People category. We will view the results of the Open competition. Hopefully the pumpkins and chrysanthemums will have arrived along with the scarecrows. The vendors have very interesting displays of the products for sale, so be prepared to buy. There also is a nursery across the street with palm trees and flowers and a flower shop with exotic arrangements. For candid shots of people, you will find diverse subjects. You may try techniques from macro and abstract to wide angle for the view of downtown Dallas. There are three sheds, #1, #2, & #3, which have inside free parking. AWARD WINNERS At the North Texas State Fair in Denton TX, Pam Norris won a 1st place, two 2nd places, and a 3rd place ribbon. Ann Redfearn won a 2nd place and a 3rd place ribbon. In the PSA International Travelette Contest, Eleanore Avery won the bronze. Each entrant submitted 25 slides and a written commentary.
