2 2 APRIL The Pilchuck Camera Club Newsletter Serving members from the Puget Sound Area of Washington State The Pilchuck Camera Club was organized June 12, 1964 and is a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the Northwest Council of Camera Clubs (NWCCC). Membership is open to anyone interested in color or monochromatic digital photography. Club meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month in the Baker Heights Social Hall, 1401 Poplar Street, Everett, WA. 3 3 APRIL Pilchuck Camera Club April Meeting Minutes The monthly meeting of the Pilchuck Camera Club was held on April 13, 2017 and called to order by President Tracy Carson at 7:10pm. There were 19 members present and 1 Guests. Treasure Greg Thomas reported $ in the Treasury. He stated that we balanced out with the annual Club dinner and had some funds left. Vice President Paula Kelly presented miscellaneous certificates to the winners of the monthly competition. The Judges were: Tracy Carson, Linda Davis and Paul Priebe. There were 50 Reg, 47 monthly challenge and 18 PSA images shown. Thank you to Jim Basinger and Steve Lightle for the tabulating and projection of images. Program for the evening was John McAlpine. He spoke about how to present images on different canvases, how to locate such canvases, and some of his professional background. Thank to Paula Kelly for inviting him. One form was a Picture printed on Forex. We had 2 new members join, Don Elliott and John McAlpine. Welcome to these two fine gentlemen. Renata stated that there was no news now from NWCCC, there will be more info to follow in the future. Steve has no Field trips planned at this time. Old Business: President Tracy Carson wants the members to review the club by-laws and make any change suggestions that may be beneficial to the club. It was suggested that Dues be paid in November- December so that members are in good standing for the January image submissions. New Business: President Tracy Carson encourages members to be friends on Face Book so that we may learn from each other s photos. President Tracy Carson also suggest that in Decembers meeting we do a bring 1 image- take one image. It would be a 5x7 image size. More info on this to follow. Jim Basinger also wants to remind members when submitting images for the monthly competition, regular and PSA, etc. that they must be in the form of image name members name Please use the hyphen and use the same form of member name every time so it makes it easy to tabulate the scores at the end of the year. Also, the images must be no larger than 1080 tall x 1920 wide. Example: They can t be 1081x Let s keep this process easy for Jim as it is quite a undertaking. 4 March Challenge Birds Kissing Wood Ducks By Renata Kleinert Cover Image Bridge of the Americas By Patricia Garrison This was taken in the Panama Canal in the early evening/late afternoon from a ferry boat. After looking it up it appears I actually labeled it incorrectly (there were so many bridges!) and it is called Centennial Bridge, which is a major bridge crossing the Panama Canal. It was built to supplement the overcrowded Bridge of the Americas and to replace it as the carrier of the Pan-American Highway. When it opened in 2004, it became the second permanent crossing of the canal. 4 APRIL
