Spring Fair dates are April 19 22, Photo contest submission deadline is April 11, 2018 Photo Contest Prize Money this year totals $525, with a total of 34 different awards. In addition, every image entered will be put on display. Over 1,500 people will visit the Tacoma Photographic Society s Spring Fair Photo Exhibition this year, making this a great opportunity to display your work to a large audience and possibly be an Award Winning Photographer. 5 MBCC Meet-Up Groups MBCC has six Meet-Up Groups for "spur-of-the-moment" photo outings anytime during the year, often on short notice. They are listed at the end of this newsletter, together with the names of everyone who signed up last year to be notified of outings for a particular group. Please help us update these lists by checking them and adding or removing your name from any of the groups by contacting that group's leader, whose name is also provided. Copies of these lists will also be available at the March meeting. Aviation Meet-Up Event: The first aviation outing will be on April 14th at the Heritage Flight Museum (heritageflight.org) at Skagit Regional Airport, Crosswind Dr., Burlington. David Schultz, Aviation Meet-Up Leader ( dschultz742@gmail.com), says "the weather will decide if the planes fly." Field Trip -- Spring Equinox -- Exact date TBD From David Schultz: A field trip is currently planned for around the Spring Equinox on Tuesday, March 20, at Cornet Bay (Cornet Bay Rd. off Route 20 south of Deception Pass Bridge. The sun sets at 7:23p.m. right under the Deception Pass bridge. There will be quite a few photographers there to try and catch the sunset. Please meet at around 5:30-6:00 p.m. at the Cornet Bay parking lot and dress warmly. It is a half-mile hike one way either on a paved road or, if the tide is out, on a rocky beach. He will send an to participants once the equinox gets closer and he can better judge the weather forecasts and choose the most promising date. 10 A NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT Greetings All, Spring is just around the corner -- at least we hope it is. In 2017 we established our Spur Of The Moment meet up groups and we had some success with good outings. In 2018 it is our intension to build on this idea. Our earliest native wildflower species will soon be coming into bloom at Washington Park in Anacortes for those interested in this endeavor. Some of these outings may not be the spur of the moment types, but planned a bit in advance. If you have a special interest and would like to lead your own group, please let us know at our next club meeting on March 16 th. I also want to sincerely thank the various club members who had a part in the success of our POY event last Saturday evening. We had the best turnout ever.
