1 JUNE 2016 NEWSLETTER Greetings Fellow Magicians! Welcome to a month of great magic! Last month, we had a great lecture by Eric Jones. His presentation was out of this world! It was a night for the magician - the knowledge that Eric has in our craft is amazing and those who did not attend missed out. From coins to cards, his attention to detail for close up magic was truly great. Our club members who participated in our Stage Contest performed with such talent. I am always intrigued and proud of what we accomplish as a club. Mystique Jones took first place with his Celebration trick, while took second performing the Tale of Two Monte's. Bill Bowersox took third place with his Card Restoration. Congratulations to all our winners and those who participated in the contest. Our 72nd Annual Banquet will be held on June 18, Please make sure you get your tickets in advance so the club can let the caterer know how many are attending. The banquet will be held at Cokesbury Village. Doors will open at 5:30pm with strolling magicians and dinner beginning at 6:30pm. Following dinner, there will be magical entertainment by Al Lloyd as well as a performance by Chris Ivey, a professional juggler. Our Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Joe Mogar. Tickets for banquet are $40 per adult and $20 for children 6-12 years of age. Children 5 and under are free. You can purchase your tickets at our next meeting or call or This is going to be a great night of magic and entertainment that should not be missed! Coming up on June 5, 2016 is Bob Little's Super Sunday which will be held at the Best Western located at 3499 Street Road in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. You may call to RSVP. It's a great day for magicians dealers, auctions, lectures, and a terrific evening show! The event runs from 10am to 10pm.

2 The next Delaware Knights Of Magic meeting will be held on June 9 at 7:30pm at Cokesbury Village. The contest this month will be a Close-Up competition. Alex Lourido will be presenting his Dealer Demo. Additionally, we have a very special opportunity Mike Ciosek has generously offered to take a Club Photograph at this meeting. Itʼs been several years since the last one, so comb your hair and dress sharp! This is my last newsletter as president of the Delaware Knights of Magic. Due to previously scheduled obligations, I will not be at the June meeting nor the banquet, but it has been both a privilege and an honor to serve as your president. I look forward to seeing you all in September and wish the club success and growth in the years to come. In the days of YouTube and On Demand conjuring, there is nothing better than getting to know and learning from the very people who practice the craft we all love - in the club experience. 6 True or False The Effect An audience member chooses a card and places it into a small packet. He then names his card but he s allowed to lie! Whatever he says, you re still able to find his card. The Routine Have a person think of any card in the deck. Hand him the deck and let him find and remove that card. You now take out six additional cards. Put four cards down and have him put his card on top of those; then drop the remaining two cards on top of that. (His card is now third from the top.) Now ask him to name his card but you tell him that he can either tell the truth or lie! Whatever card he tells you, you ll now spell out the name of that card in the following manner: (Let s say he picked the Seven of Clubs) Spell out the word Seven, placing one card down for each letter. Place the remaining cards in your hand on top of that pile. Next, pick up the pile and spell out the word Of. Then place the remaining cards on top of that pile. Finally, pick up the pile and spell out the suit, Clubs. Again, place the rest of the cards in your hand on top of that pile. Now, pick up the cards for the final time and ask your spectator if he was lying or telling the truth. Whichever he says, spell it Truth or False. Turn up the final card you spell to, and that will be his card! Secret This effect is self-working. Make sure the selected cards starts out third from the top. Spell out the name of whatever card the spectator tells you. At this point, the fifth card will be his; you can reveal it by spelling Truth, False, or even Magic! Instructions by:
