However, ince he variable peed ac drive ruire a power elecronic converer for heir upply in va majoriy of cae an inverer wih a dc link, he number of machine phae i eenially no limied. Thi ha led o an increae in he inere in muli-phae ac drive applicaion, ince muli-phae machine offer ome inheren advanage over heir hree-phae counerpar. Inereing reearch reul have been publihed over he year on muli-phae drive and deailed review i available in gh 00, Jone and Levi 00, ojoi e al. 006, Levi e al. 007, Levi 008a and Levi 008b. Major advanage of uing a muli-phae machine inead of a hree-phae machine are higher orque deniy, greaer efficiency, reduced orque pulaion, greaer faul olerance, and reducion in he ruired raing per inverer leg and herefore impler and more reliable power condiioning uipmen. Noie characeriic of muli-phae drive are beer when compared hree-phae drive a demonraed by Hodge e al. 00 and Golubev and Ignaenko 000. The power elecronic converer upplying muli-phae drive are conrolled uing advanced digial ignal proceor DSP and Field programmable Gae rray FPG. Many modulaion echnique implemened uing DSP and FPG are propoed in he lieraure for conrolling he muli-phae power elecronic converer, Iqbal and Levi 00. In conra hi paper propoe imple, reliable and cheap conroller circui uing analogue componen and quare wave operaion of a five-phae volage ource inverer SI. In environmen of weak grid wih poor power qualiy, epped operaion of volage ource inverer may be conidered a more viable oluion in comparion o PWM mode.
