Safeguard implementatin f restrictins where necessary by vluntary measures, like cde f cnducts and ther self-impsed cmmitments 4

6 The paint industry supprts the eliminatin f lead paint glbally In 2018, IPPIC reaffirmed its 2009 plicy statement: IPPIC ntes the lng-standing effectiveness f lead-use restrictins that are already in place in many jurisdictins arund the wrld and recmmends their widespread adptin by authrities nt currently regulating the use f lead in paint and printing ink. T this end, IPPIC supprts the UN s Lead Paint Alliance Mdel Law, as a useful starting pint fr bth gvernment and industry t cllabrate n develping restrictins that ensure widespread and verifiable cmpliance. 7

7 Natinal Paint Assciatins Supprt Example: German Paint Assciatin VdL s cmmittment: All member cmpanies f the VdL, in their cnduct f their business, d nt add lead t residential paint, thereby cmplying with the cmplete ban f lead cmpunds in decrative paints in Germany. In 1984, VdL had already publicly signed a vluntary agreement n the reductin f lead pigments in all catings. Members f the German Paint and Printing Ink Assciatin will nt exprt decrative paint cntaining lead t cuntries where there is n legislative cntrl n such. 8
