2 Knitting Classes Beginning Knitting During the first 2 classes, you will learn to cast on, knit, purl, increase, decrease & cast off. On the 3rd class session, you will pick out an easy project, learn to read knitting instructions & work on your chosen project for the remainder of the course. Fee: $78/4 week class.. Sun. Nov. 5 to Dec. 3 with the MY S Staff 12-1:30 pm. (No Class November 12) Thurs. Nov. 9to to Dec. 14 with Darlene (No Class Nov. 23 & December 7) 3-4:30 p.m. Materials: US 8 to 10 knitting needle; one 100 gram ball of worsted weight yarn (preferably a wool or wool blend). All materials must be purchased from Mosaic Yarn Studio. Registered students get a 10% discount on class supplies! Beginning Knitting can be taken only two times and then you must move up to Intermediate Knitting:) Intermediate Knitting/ Crocheting Intermediate Knitting/Crocheting You will learn more advanced techniques of your choice. For example, you can choose a simple cabled sweater pattern, a fair isle pattern, an intarsia pattern - the choice is yours! This class can be taken over and over and over and over. 3 Technique Classes Correcting Mistakes with Darlene Joyce Are you tired of running into the shop every time the stitches fall off the needle? Come and learn how to correct common mistakes made while knitting. You will learn to pick up dropped stitches in stockinette, garter, and at the end of the row. The class will include exercises in dropping down pattern stitches, picking up dropped stitches, and ripping out rows of knitting and getting stitches back on the needle. Please pick up homework sheet. Sun. December p.m. Building in Crochet 2018 This Crochet Sampler is a skill building workshop for crocheters! Each month you will make a different square and learn a new skill! 1st Sunday of every month, 2-3:30 p.m. $10/month or $100/year Book & yarn must be purchased at MYS! Building Blocks 2018 with Kate Joyce Building Blocks is a skill building workshop that has students knitting a different 12 block every month that can be pieced together to create a lovely sampler afghan. The emphasis of this class is EDUCATION. Students are guided through the various stitches and techniques each month as their knitting knowledge is increased. With a different skill focus each month there is something new to learn at each class. Topics such as gauge, cast ons, bind offs, cables, increases, decreases, lace, pattern reading and more are covered. Project Classes When the Stars Align with K ate Joyce Originally designed for the Chicago Yarn Crawl 2017, join Kate in learning how to do the star stitch. Sample in Ella Rae Sun Kissed 100% cotton. Pattern is free with class. Please cast on and knit border before class. Sun. November p.m. Chunkified Retreat Shawl with K ate Joyce Learn how to make Kate s original retreat design using super chunky yarn and a size US 15 needle. Techniques include kfb increases, double yarn overs and decreases. Sun. November 5, 19 & December 3 Fee: $ p.m. Spiral Hat with Georg L uxton A masterpiece from the work of Elizabeth Zimmermann. This hat can be made in one evening with super thick yarn and a big needle! The sample hat is done in a braided yarn, Ushya, and is from Marisol s new collection. Elizabeth also referred to this hat at the conch, snail or Dairy Queen hat. You can find the pattern in Knitting Without Tears or The Opinionated Knitter. Sat. November a.m - 12 p.m. Building with Lace 2018 with June Sorensen Building with Lace is the third book from renowned knitter and teacher, Michelle Hunter. It is a carefully designed sequence of patterns that introduce knitters to lace work starting with the basics and working towards more difficult patterns. 1st Thursday of every month, 5-6:30 p.m. $10/month or $100/year (paid in full) Book & yarn must be purchased at MYS!

4 Cabled Mittens with Darlene Joyce Learn how to make a cabled mitten, using worsted weight yarn and size US 5 double pointed needle, two circular needles or magic loop method. Some experience with working in the round is helpful. Darlene used Capony Worsted (a 50% alpaca, 30% merino wool, 20% bamboo) for her sample. Free pattern. Sat. November 25 to December 16 (No Class December 9 Fee: $66 Weaving Classes Rigid Heddle Weaving: Color Play Learn plaids and stripe color patterns with your rigid heddle loom. Knowledge of plain weave (tabby weave) necessary. Students must know how to warp a loom. 1-3 p.m. It s Not too Late.You didn t blow it...last Minute Gift! Veil Stitch Cowl/Scarf Choose your favorite worsted to chunky yarn (100 grams will do) and learn how to make a veil stitch scarf. This scarf is quick and easy! Friday, December 21, 1-2 p.m. Fee: $20 Plug N Play Sweater Club with Darlene Joyce Wednesdays, 1-3 p.m. (No Class November 8) Tuesdays, 6 8 p.m. (No Class November 9 & 23) Cost is $25/class. Using Melissa Leapman s new book, students will learn how to make a pullover (or cardigan). Darlene will help with fit adjustments/pattern alterations. This club will be ongoing so you can successful complete your sweater with expert help. All yarn must be purchased from MYS. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required 24 hours before day that you want to attend. Wed. November 1, 15, & 29 Fee: $ p.m. Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving: Getting to Know Your Loom Learn the parts of the loom and weaving terminology. Students will assemble their loom, warp it and do a balanced weave using worsted weight yarn purchased from MYS. This basic class is a spring board for more advanced weaving technique classes to come. If bringing own loom, make sure it is a rigid heddle and is no bigger than 20. Check with Georg is uncertain. Wed. December 6, 20 & January p.m. Fee: $66 ($44 with purchase of Sample It! Loom) Intro to Frame Weaving with Georg L uxton Using a frame loom, students will learn some basics of weaving, including how to warp the frame, how to create some simple stitches and how to let the design process flow while making a simple wall hanging. No experience needed. Frames available at MYS. Sat. November p.m. Weave Nite 2nd Wednesday of the Month, 7 9 p.m. Cost: $25/class Get help with warping your loom, creating a new fabric or finding your creative side. Yarn must have been purchased at MYS. Please pre-register.

5 Crochet Classes Our hearts are with you Puerto Rico! Beginning Crochet A special fund raiser. This class is for beginners. You ll get started with chain, single, and double crochet Chose one of these patterns: stitches. Chose a skein of Plymouth Encore and a H hook and you will be on your way! Dec. 6 to 27 with Pattie Aaron 7-8:30 p.m. Viridescent Harmony with Darlene Joyce Originally designed for the Chicago Yarn Crawl Learn some double crochet crossed stitches while working on this surprisingly simple cow. Yarn is Classic Elite s Song (50% wook/50% cotton), but any light worsted weight yarn will work. Sat. December 30 & January p.m. Fee: $55 2 week class Chevron Lace Cardigan CAL Fridays, 1-3 p.m. (November/December) Friday, November 17 7 p.m p.m. The proceeds of these patterns go to the Hispanic Federation Unidos Fund for Hurricane Maria Relief in Puerto Rico. Mosaic will be donating 25% of the profit from the evenings sales to the Fund. Please register. Broomstick Lace (Crochet) with Pattie Aaron See Ravelry for pattern and images. Learn how to crochet over a large knitting needle, a ruler or over a popsicle stick, the choice is yours. You will practice on worsted weight yarn and move to a finger weight yarn and a scarf/cowl. (Intermediate level) Saturday, November a.m. - 3 p.m. All yarns must be purchased at MYS and all participants must be working on the cardigan Pre-registration required. Space is limited. Space is limited. Class Policies Class Materials: Except when noted, yarns must be purchased from Mosaic Yarn Studio. Come in as soon as possible to pick out your supplies in case we need to order something. Students receive a 10% discount on all class materials! Please come to class with any gadgets you might need! Pre-Registration: Pre-registration is required for all classes. You may register by phone via Visa/Mastercard or you can send in the class registration form above. Of course, you can always register in person! Minimum: A minimum of students is required in order for a class to run. You will be notified one week in advance if the minimum is not met and your deposit will be refunded. Cancellation: Store credit can be issued for your deposit if we are notified one week before the start of class. After this point, deposits are non-refundable. Out of courtesy to our instructors, no make-up classes are given. All Classes: 100% payment is due at the time of registration. Private & Semi-Private Lessons We offer private lessons at $32.00 per hour and Semi-Private (2 students) lessons at $50 per hour.
