Rod Wallace, a local woodworker brought us a selection of buttons and shawl pins made from exotic woods. These little lovelies are a must see and buy priced from $5- Yarn: grams sport weight yarn. 100 grams of yarn is enough to make 1 pair of Knee high $35. socks or two pairs of calf length. Needles: Size 3-4 Knee Highs: Cast on 64 Position your stitches onto 3 double pointed needles evenly. Knitting in the round. Rows 1-31 knit two purl two around. Row 32- knit two purl 2 for 32 stitches. For remainder of round *knit 2, purl 2 together, knit two, purl Buttons, Buttons, Buttons: We now have a whole shelf devoted to a wide range of two** repeat from * to ** until end of round (this cute little rainbow shades of buttons to embellish your projects. at 10 cents a piece reduces the circumference of the sock over your shin. Row Knit two, purl 2 for 32 stitches then *knit they are a bargain. 2, purl 1, knit 2 purl 2** Repeat from * to ** until 1/6

2 Dumpling Cases: These little cases hold all of those little items that alway seem to get lost. You can't beat $4.00 each. Debbie Bliss DK Cotton: These little skeins come in bright as well as pastel shades. This yarn is perfect for washcloths and small spring knitting projects. At $6.00 for 92 yards you can get two of these leaf washclothes from this pattern offered by the tricksy knitter. Cascade Greenland: This yarn is washable and has twist. The twist maks it the perfect yarn to use on a projects with cables. The Calorimetry headband at knitty would look great with a few cables incorporated. at $13.00 for 137 yard it would take just one skein. Lana Grande is a bulky yarn with twist. It makes lovely accessories and for quick sweaters. round is complete. Row 39-Knit two, purl 2 for 32 stitches. *knit two, purl 1, knit 2 purl 2 together** Repeat from * to ** until end of round. At this point 32 stitches should be in the knit 2 purl 2 pattern and 24 should be in knit 2 purl 1 pattern. Rows Knit 2 purl 2 for 32 stitches, knit 2 purl 1 for the remainder of the round. Row 81: *K2, purl 2 together, knit 2, purl 2** Repeat from * to ** 4 times, knit two, purl 1 for the remainder of round. In this process you are always decreasing in the purl rows so that your ribbing pattern is continuous. Rows K2, p1, k2, p2 for the first part of the round, knit 2, p1 for remainder of round (follow the pattern of the previous row). Row 82-k2, p1, k2 p2tog, repeat until until 24 stitches are on the needle, knit 2 p 1 to finish the round (total 48 stiches in round). Rows or length of sock desired (measure to back of heel). K2,p1. A Duncan Drum Carder for rent! My husband found this and brought it home for my birthday and I am sharing! For just $5.00 per hour you can use this big drum carder to prepare your own fleece for spinning or felting. We will also be getting in raw fleece for purchase from local farmers so pop in. On sunday I am picked up a variety of weaving and spinning materials from a family who is looking for good homes for them. These gently used items include a small floor loom, yarns, table loom, plus other spinning and knitting tools. They are for sale in the back room. We are Bursting at he Seams! If you prefer a Calf Length sock Cast on 48 stitches. Place a marker at the beginning of this round and begin working in the round with three evenily spaced double pointed needles. Rows 1-50 knit two purl two around. Continue to Heel Flap instructions for remaining sock. Making the Heel Flap: Knit across the first 24 stitches onto a single double pointed needle. Place the second 24 stitches onto a piece of string or safety pin. You will now be working with just the 24 stitches on the needle. Using two needles work back and forth. Think Fleeces Turn Heel: Row 1: knit 13, slip slip knit (ssk), knit 1, turn. Row 2: purl 4, purl 2 together, purl 1, turn. Row 3: knit 5, ssk, knit 1, turn. Row 4: purl 6, purl 2 together, p 1, turn Row 5: knit 7 ssk, knit 1, turn. Row 6: purl 8, purl 2 together, p 1, turn Row 7: knit 9, ssk, knit 1, turn. Row 8: purl 10, purl 2 together, p 1, turn Row 9: knit 11, ssk, knit 1, turn. Row 10: purl 12, purl 2 together, p 1, turn Your heel is turned and you should have 14 stitches on your needle. Picking up Stitches for Gusset. Slip the 24 stitches you have held aside onto one double pointed needle. It is Spring and that means shearing time. The spinners and felters among us have been toying with the idea of co-op fleece buying. Are you interested in buying a partial or whole fleece? Right now I can get Alpacca in a variety of shades, Faroese fleeces (they shear in June), and Indiginous Gulf Coast wool. I have a tentative contact for Romney Fleeces. More types and varieties are coming. Shares in these fleeces can be claimed uncleaned, cleaned or cleaned and carded. Obviously the less prepared they are the less expensive the share price will be. Contact the shop and get your name down if you are interested in joining in. Row 1: knit across 7 of the heel stitches. Row 2: Using a second needle knit across 7 more heel stitches. Row 3: Using this second needle pick up 13 stitches along the side of the heel. Row 4: Using a third needle knit across the instep (those recently on hold) following the k2 p1 pattern for knee highs or k2p2 for calf length. Using a fourth needle pick up 13 stitches across the remaining side of the heel and then knit across 7 heel stitches. The middle of the heel begins each round. There should be 20 stitches on needle 1, 24 on needle 2 and 20 on the third. Row 5: knit around. Shape Gusset Round 1: 1st needle: knit up to the last 3 stitches to the end of the needle, knit 2 together, knit 1 2nd needle: k2, p1 across for knee highs and k2,p2 for calf length 3/6

4 3rd needle: knit 1, ssk, knit to end of the needle. Round 2: K across 1st needle, k2 p1 (k2,p2 for calf length) across second, k across 3rd. Repeat these two rounds until there are 48 stitches total. Knit the 48 stitches around until the foot of the sock including the heel is about 2 inches shorter than the length of your foot. Decreasing for toes. Round 1: 1st needle: knit to within 3 stitches of the end of the needle, knit two together, knit 1. 2nd needle: knit 1, ssk, knit to within three stitches of the end of this needle, purl 2 together. 3rd needle knit 1, ssk, knit to end of needle. Round 2: knit around. Round 3: continue to knit these two rounds until there are 24 stitches left. After this work the decrease round for every round until 8 stitches are left. Break yarn and use a darning needle and the Kitchener stitch to close the end of the toe.
