German Twisted cast on for flexible ribbing Jeny s Surprisingly Stretchy bind off for stretchy ribbing no matter which direction you re knitting in. How to work the Crochet Provisional cast on, How to pick up your provisional stitches and work in the other direction. An easy and magical Tubular cast on Tubular bind off Grafting (Kitchener stitch) for seamless joins Materials ~ Yarn: CYC 4, smooth worsted weight yarn in a light color. Tuition: $55/ 3 hour session Prerequisite Skills: Must know how to knit, purl. Recognize the knit and purl stitch and be able to work them in a pattern without supervision. Tools: Size US 9 needles or the size you use to work worsted weight yarn and a set one size smaller Crochet Hook size H or I Accessories: Scissors, darning needle Jan 28 1:30-4:00 pm CROCHET PLAID Inspired by Whistle & Ivy s wonderful plaid designs we ll be working on a small hat to learn the technique. Color selection, carrying multiple colors to create a plaid effect. Working decreases in color pattern, creating crochet stretchy ribbing. Tuition: $55 / 2.5 hour session Skill Prerequisite: Must know how to ch, sc, dc, hdc, basic increases and decreases. 2 Feb 4 1:30-4:00 PM INTARSIA BASICS 2 of 8 Learn to master multiple color knitting, and working with bobbins and charts. You will learn tips and tricks to make this wonderful colorwork technique easier, and conquer the basics of intarsia at the same time! Tuition: $55/ 2.5 hour session Prerequisite Skills: Must have a solid understanding of knitted fabric and be able to recognize a knit and a purl. Materials list: Yarn- for class exercise provided. Needles - Bring or buy size US 8 or 9 needles or the size you use for worsted weight yarn. Accessories - Scissors, large eye blunt (darning or tapestry) needle. Feb 11 1:30-4:00 pm CROCHET CABLES Have you ever wanted to get the classic look of cables in crochet? In this class you'll learn about post stitches and how to combine them into traveling cables in any direction, and you ll be ready to make this classic hat! Tuition: $55 / 3 hour session Prerequisite Skills: Must have a solid understanding of the basic stitches and the holes in a stitch, chain and chain-space. Must understand basic pattern reading. These stitch patterns are a great exercise in pattern reading and will take your knitting to the next level. We will explore twist stitch and drop stitch designs, along with more unusual techniques using long floats. Tuition: $55/ 3 hour session Prerequisite Skills: Must know how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off & work simple increases & decreases without supervision. Materials ~ Yarn: CYC 4, smooth, light colored, stretchy worsted weight yarn. Needles: Size US 8 or 9 needles, or your preferred size for the yarn. Mar 4 1:30-3:30 PM COCO BEACH CIRCLE TOP Get started on this fun top for spring and be ready when the weather changes! Play with color and make it your own! Get valuable practice interpreting a crochet pattern and planning for a successful project. Students will begin working in class, review finishing techniques and be ready to complete at home. Learn the decreases and increases you need to make perfect lacy creations. In this class we'll work through several lace patterns that illustrate different facets of this endlessly fascinating technique. You'll also learn how to follow a chart, put in a safety line, and use stitch markers to keep your sanity and other tricks of lace. In this session we ll remake Two of Wands super popular Tea Shop Wrap as a fade, in the process learning color selection and strategies for creating pleasing color gradations in an existing pattern which can be applied in many projects.
