I knit 365 days per year but some of you take breaks to travel, garden, quilt and more. I love wool, wool blends, alpacas, cashmere. Ok, I admit it, I just love FIBER! The teaching staff have put together another fabulous array of classes for knitters and crocheter's of all skill levels. This fall we will offer beginner and advanced 2-day weaving classes by a well known instructor (details available soon). We will kick off Fall with Sandy Barnes from Shibui doing a MIX party and Trunk Show, October 5. Details to follow. In October we will hold our Annual Yarn Tasting and November 4-6 we will have 2 booths at Vogue Live. Watch for our exclusive Vogue Live Projects. November 11, 12, & 13 we host our annual luxury retreat at Grandview Lodge and in November we will launch our exclusive 4-month CLUB. It is going to be luxurious because YOU deserve it! 2 GENERAL INFORMATION & POLICIES Which Level Are You? Beginner: Projects for first-timers using basic stitches, such as cast on, knit, and cast off. Easy: You know the basics about knit and purl stitches but you feel that you need help with most of the other stuff because you re still a fairly new knitter. Easy Plus: You know how to cast on, knit, purl, can do a simple increase and a simple decrease, and bind off. Intermediate: You can do all the beginner stuff, and know that there is more than just one way of making an increase and decrease and are ready to try something new. Class Materials The cost of materials is not included in the class fee. Some classes require the purchase of a book or the pattern because Amazing Threads cannot copy patterns. It is noted when classes require the purchase of a book. Appropriate yarn must be purchased at Amazing Threads prior to the beginning of each class. Receive 10% off yarn purchased for classes. Refund Policy Amazing Threads reserves the right to cancel a class one week prior to the start date of the class. Class fees will be refunded to the customer. Cancellation by students must be made at least two weeks prior to the start date in order to receive a full refund. After that date fees are not refundable or transferable. Return Policy Returns on yarn and accessories in original condition (not wound) are accepted for exchange or store credit within 30 days of purchase with an itemized receipt. No returns or exchanges on kits, books, patterns, needles, sale or clearance yarn. Thank you for shopping at Amazing Threads. 3 Fall/Winter Winter/fall 2016/ /13 SSK (Sit, Sip & Knit) Each Tuesday morning a group of knitters and crocheters gather. Bring your lunch and a favorite stitching project and join the group. $5 Each Tuesday of the month 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Knit Night You will find a unique group of yarn enthusiasts each Tuesday evening. Work on a project with friends and/or make new friends and relax with a cup of coffee, tea or water. You'll enjoy the evening in the company of others who love to knit and crochet! $5 Each Tuesday evening of the month Knit-Along Throughout the year we offer various types of Knit- Alongs (KAL) & Classes on Demand. KALs in the last year included shawls, mittens, dolls, and more. KALs provide our customers an opportunity to knit in a group setting on a specific project, but KALs do not include instruction. We have several on tap for this spring/summer. SOCIAL FIBER GROUPS & Help Table If you love to work with yarn to create things and want to meet people with the same interests, these social groups are for you. Each group charges a $5 fee that is applied to a purchase of $20 or more on the date of attendance. Attendance is free to Knit Club Members (KCM). These social fiber groups are supported with staff that can assist with simple knit or crochet questions. Classes On Demand Classes On Demand (COD) are offered when teaching staff find that perfect project that they want to share with our customers. KALs and CODs are updated in our weekly blasts and on our website. Knit & Crochet Help Desk Many people stop in for a quick fix on a project and we try to get them back on track. Often we are just too busy to help on-the-fly. Throughout the year, we provide an expert to help with QUICK FIXES. The Help Desk is for simple fixes for customers knitting on yarn purchased from Amazing Threads. We want you to love your project. Let Mary Jane, Kate or Wanda help you get on track and make your project soar. We have Knit with the Expert available by appointment for those needing more than a quick fix. This throw can be done quickly with super bulky yarn and a large crochet hook. Great for beginners, this easy pattern can be mastered in a few rounds. You ll be done before you know it and will certainly keep you warm on the coldest of days! This pattern is also easily customizable for your favorite colors and size. Yarn must be purchased at Amazing Threads. Easy (SS) FREE for those who take the Tuff Granny Throw one session class or those who know how to crochet granny squares. Saturdays, December 10 & 17 2 p.m.-4 p.m. Endless Wrap KAL Join Maxine for this FREE KAL. When finished you will own the wrap of the season. Wrap yourself in yards of cozy Woolstok, the new fiber from Blue Sky Fibers. Fun to knit, fun to wear, the Endless Wrap is a long swath of lofty, textural knitted fabric. 4 BEGINNER CLASSES Learn to Knit - 4 Sessions Whether you ve never knit before or it s just been a long time, you ll get a solid foundation of fundamentals in Beginning Knitting class. You ll learn to cast on, knit, purl, bind off, decrease, make simple stitch patterns, knit in the round with circular and double pointed needles, and weave in ends. Each student will knit a cowl and/or hat. This 4 session class will get you started in the world of hand knitting. Each student will get the opportunity to make their unique project. Materials not included. Beginner (MJT or Staff) $52 Mondays, September 19, 26, October 10 & 17 (MJT) 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Thursdays, October 6, 13, 27 & November 3 (MJT) 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Mondays, November 14, 21, December 5 & 12 (MJT) 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays, January 14, 21, February 4 & 18 (MJT) 12 p.m.- 2 p.m. Thursdays, February 23, March 2, 16 & 23 (MJT) 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Private Lessons We have experienced knitting staff that provide 1:1 lessons. Private lessons are for those students seeking 1:1 assistance with a new or existing project. Individual Learn to Knit OR Crochet can also be booked in these 1:1 private lessons. Lessons are arranged through the shop and are scheduled by telephone at a time convenient for the student and instructor. $30 per hour Learn to Crochet This 4 session class will teach you the 6 basic stitches on which every crochet stitch and pattern design are based. Crochet stitches start from a basic chain that is in turn started with a slip knot. Once you know how to make a chain and work your way back along the chain you will know how to crochet. It s that simple, really! We will also learn the basic stitches of crochet: single, double, and triple crochet, with which you can make virtually any crochet project. You will also learn to read/understand stitch abbreviations and basic patterns! Students will create a beanie and fingerless mitts. Beginner (SS) $52 plus materials Thursdays, October 6, 20, 27 & November 17 Saturdays, November 5, 19, 26 & December 10 Wednesdays, January 4, 18, February 1 & 15 Saturdays, February 18, March 4, 18 & 25 Holiday Gift Knitting: Finish It Join Kate in November and December to get your gift knitting completed. Easy (KC). $20 each session OR $35 for both! Saturday, November 5 OR Saturday December 17 SKILL BUILDERS Correcting Mistakes Things happen while knitting that we didn t want or expect. Stitches fall off the needle and drop down a few rows, stitches get twisted, just to name a few. This class will focus on a number of the most common errors that occur and teach you how to fix them to make your finished project beautiful. Supplies needed: Crochet hook, darning needle, a few feet of lighter weight yarn. Homework: Knit a 6 square in stockinette stitch and leave it on the needles with yarn attached. Easy Plus (MJT). $18 Saturday, November 19 OR Saturday, March 18 2 Seaming You ve finished knitting the pieces of a beautiful project and it s time to stitch it together. Which seaming techniques should you use? In this workshop, you ll learn several seaming techniques and when to use them. Supplies: darning needle, extra yarn, US H crochet hook, extra knitting needle in same size as you are using on your squares. Homework: Knit and bind off, eight-4 squares as follows: 2 in garter stitch, 4 in stockinette stitch, 2 in whatever pattern you like, but do NOT bind off these 2 squares. 5 GOT YOU COVERED HEAD TO FOOT My Favorite Hat This class teaches you how to knit in the round in four different ways with multiple options, and knit quickly in a bulky yarn. This is sure to become your favorite hat. Think holiday gift giving. This two session class is perfect for creating a gift for you or someone you love! Learn the Blackberry stitch while knitting in the round to create these wristers! Easy Plus (KC) $32 Saturdays, December 3 & 17 Fiddlehead Mittens Stranded mittens with gore thumb and a traditional mitten shape, knit in decidedly non-traditional yarns, fibers and colors. Choose a wool, alpaca, mohair or blended yarn for maximum warmth and resilience. These are a quick and fun knit! Learn the provisional cast on, colorwork, picking up stitches for lining. Intermediate (KC) $52 Thursdays, March 2, 9, 16 & 30 Cabito A brioche hat knit in Malabrigo Arroyo. Join Maxine to knit this fabulous Brioche stitch hat designed by Malabrigo. Two skeins of Arroyo will make 2 hats and Brioche is the stitch of the year. Think Christmas giving! Maxine will guide you through both of the Brioche stitches Advanced Beginner $42 Wednesdays, October 12, 19 & 26 HOME ACCESSORIES Bounce Blanket A wonderful combination of stripes and lace. Bounce is the perfect pattern for a gradient, fun stripes, or even just 2 colors. The possibilities are endless! Uses charts and written instructions for lace pattern. 6 SCARVES, SHAWLS, PONCHOS & WRAPS Pier 63 A multipatterned cowl from the new Malabrigo Rios Book 10. Uses two colors of scrumptious Malabrigo Rios to knit this cowl. Cowl is worked in the round from the bottom up. Due to the changes in gauge the cowl will be looser on one edge which results in wonderful drape in the cowl. First class will be casting on and beginning the lace work. Then we work through the stripes and the eyelet pattern. Easy Plus (KC) $42 Saturdays, September 24, October 8 & 22 Simple Plaid Double Knit Scarf Ever wanted to learn how to double knit? Learn how with this fun and fashionable simple plaid scarf. This pattern is fantastic for beginners and advanced double knitters alike, and is designed for your project to be worked as long or as short as you like. Intermediate (TR) $42 Sundays, September 25, October 9 & 30 Easy Cabled Cowl This class is a great introduction to cables. You will work a variety of cable stitches both with and without the cable needle, learn to read cable charts and understand how to fix mistakes - all while making a fashionable cowl. Easy Plus (MJT) $42 Saturdays, October 15, 22 & 29 Cahoots Hat/Friendship Road Cowl Cori, a local designer and teacher, has agreed to teach 2 of the designs which will appear in her new book. Students can choose to knit the hat, the cowl or both projects. The cowl pattern will also have the option of the corrugated rib and the Latvian braid as well as a longer cowl. Students will learn Cori s double color cast on, corrugated 2-color ribbing, Latvian braids. Intermediate (CE) $42 Sundays, October 9 & 23 1 p.m.-3:30 p.m. 4

Waterfront A ribbed cowl, from the new Malabrigo Rios Book 10, that incorporates highly textured stitch patterns that combine to create an oversized cowl that is completely reversible. The combination of garter, stockinette and slipped stitches is highly effective with variegated or watercolor-multi yarns, and equally beautiful in semi-solids. Use two skeins to create this reversible cowl with a unique slip stitch pattern alternating with bands of broken ribbing. Join us if you are a confident knitter and you want to expand your knowledge and learn a new technique. This is a beginner Brioche class, not a beginning knitting class. This poncho is a prime example of a favorite staple! Faux seams, modern texture, a cowl neck and a cozy hood bring the poncho up to date and perfect for all different walks of life, figures, and multiple seasons of the year! Techniques to be used in creating this garment include knitting, purling, short rows, three needle bind off, easily picking up stitches, making a hood. 8 SCARVES, SHAWLS, PONCHOS & WRAPS (CONT.) Ponchetta A small poncho, knit seamlessly from the bottom-up, makes a perfect little layering piece. Sized from XS to 2X, it features an easy yet interesting stitch pattern and straight forward construction. It is worked flat from the hem to shoulders (on a long circular needle) and the 3 Needle Bind Off technique is used to seam up the left shoulder (a very easy bind off technique if you have never used it before). Remaining stitches are then transferred to a smaller circular needle and worked in the round to create the cowl neck. It s suitable for beginners looking to branch out from scarves and cowls and more advanced knitters will enjoy the relaxing nature of this knit. Easy Plus (KC) $42 Thursdays, January 12, 19 & 26 Starshower A cowl/poncho hybrid that we can t get enough of lately. It is shaped as a shawl, but mostly worked in the round - so it can be worn as a shawl, but without the ends dangling down. The simple Open Star stitch pattern perfectly complements your favorite semi-solid or variegated sock yarn. Learn the Open Star stitch pattern worked flat and in the round. Advanced Beginner (KC) $42 Thursdays, February 2, 16 & 23 Rose Candy Make a cozy, striped, 3- dimensional cowl in garter stitch, just knitting back and forth and joining the parts modularly. No purling, no seaming, just pure fun with stripes! You can customize the size of this with extra yarn. We can also make a pair of matching wristers with this same construction. The A-line body shape is flattering on many body types. It is intended to fit with 1/2 to 3 of ease at the bust. Knit entirely seamlessly from the top down, it is also quite easy to execute. The side details are formed through basic increases and decreases. The pattern offers instructions for edge finishing as well. 9 THURSDAY COWLS WITH KATE Peeping Cowl Learn or perfect your cabling and lace skills. This cowl uses 4 skeins of fingering/sock weight yarn to move through bands of stripes, cables and lace. Each session we will work on a different band, if you re short on time or yarn, eliminate the stripe section. Intermediate (KC) $52 Thursdays, September 15, 22, 29 & October 6 Mora Pearl Cowl Use one skein of fingering/sock weight, solid, tonal or speckled yarn to read charts, use stitch markers to track repeats, and learn to read your knitting. First class will cast on and set up, next two classes for troubleshooting and correcting any mistakes. Advanced Beginner (KC) $42 Thursdays, October 13, 20 & 27 Zuzu s Petals A great use of sport or worsted weight yarn. All the style of a shawlette without the fuss of trying to keep it around your neck! This easy to wear cowl is designed to mimic the look of a shawl casually draped as a scarf. This bandana style cowl will begin by knitting flat, and the second session we ll join in the round. Third class we can explore edging modifications. Advanced Beginner (KC) $42 Thursdays, November 3, 10 & 17 Welter You know those magic patterns? The ones that are easy (and fun) to knit but look unreasonably impressive? The ones you can whip out in a weekend? The ones that use up those gorgeous single skeins of special yarn you couldn t resist but didn t have a plan for? The ones that suit (and fit!) most everyone and so make perfect gifts? Yeah, this is one of those patterns! Welter is a worsted weight cowl meant for variegated or special skeins. The large lazy cables and gradual increases will make for a snuggly accessory, and the large gauge will be perfect for a last minute holiday gift. 10 CROCHET Crochet Sampler Afghan This sampler afghan is a great way to learn new stitches in small, manageable doses. The Encore Worsted Crochet Sampler Afghan book from Plymouth Yarns is a collection of twelve patterns for sampler squares measuring 12 x 12. The blocks are seamed together and finished with a border. Each square uses less than one ball of Encore Worsted.
