1 All About Yarn Weekly Update Oct. 8, 2014 Thank you for supporting All About Yarn, your LYS! Rox Before this past week I was headed towards what I thought would probably be an unbreakable record of working 42 days in a row before leaving for the wedding...but alas, instead I was taken out of commission by a nasty virus and my record was stopped at 34 days. Yes, of course I know as I ve heard from my mother, Susan and many others, working that many days in a row is what allowed this to happen in the first place. Well, I learned my lesson and hopefully I will now be immune to the flu virus in any form the rest of this season. I can t blame my grandson for this one. My husband and I leave this afternoon for some warmer temperatures, sunshine and our 29 year old son s wedding in Louise, Texas. I promise to relax and fully enjoy my week away and I know the shop is in good hands. Sunday, Paula s son Dan was married in Stillwater atop the Library...a beautiful setting with a reception that followed at Studio J on mainstreet. The smile you see in this picture never left Dan s face the entire day and night!

2 I just finished knitting two hat and fingerless mitten sets for my daughter in Chicago. The pink set is Blue Sky s yarn and Slouchy Hat pattern called Extra and the fingerless mitten pattern is from Dream in Color s December pattern of the month. library/poinsettia-14 The blue set is our Woods N Water colorway and Birch Lake fingerless mitten pattern. The cable hat is a pattern I just finished writing and I m looking for a couple of people to test knit it as well. If you are interested you will get the pattern and 25% off the price of a skein of yarn to knit the hat. Really cute baskets just arrived from Lantern Moon...more Unicorn Tails from Madelintosh and finally some 8-ply / worsted weight sock yarn.

4 Sherry, our Custom Fit Sweater Expert, just returned from a 4-day sweater retreat in Maine with Amy Herzog, where she dined on her favorite dish of lobster while learning more ways to perfect sweaters for herself and for all of you too. Sherry is wearing sweaters #101 & #102. The purple basil cardigan is one of the new set patterns for all to use in Custom Fit and in the pullover, Sherry used a stitch repeat which she incorporated into a v- neck pullover. Show & Tell Thank you for letting me take pictures of your finished projects each week...your willingness to share inspires others! Thursday evening Darcy whipped up two pumpkin hats using Rowan Pure Wool Worsted for gifts, with wash & care instructions attached. These patterns are free at the shop.

5 We have lots of quick projects ready and waiting to be knit up for this cold weather and for gifts too. Above Wednesday morning Pat used the pattern on the label of our new super bulky 100% acrylic yarn to make these cowls. This yarn is a wonderful alternative for those who have an allergy to wool. Below, Tuesday morning Jude, used Misty Alpaca Baby Me Boo for one cowl and Hikoo s newest super bulky for the other. Hikoo also has it s pattern on the label along with a hat pattern and the Misty pattern is free at the shop. Sunday afternoon Sue is holding her first pair of fingering weight socks knit with Koigu. And below, Tuesday morning Donna used one of our free and easy shop patterns to whip up this cowl from yarn she grabbed out of the clearance bin. This pattern works beautifully with about 100 yards of bulky yarn.
