1 Loom Knit Toe Socks By Karen Gielen Knit a pair of toe socks using the long yellow or long pink Knifty Knitter TM and two sets of Loom Clips now available from Provo Craft TM. Knit each toe a different color if you want! Knit stripes if you want! This pattern just begs to be knit silly! Skill Levels: EASY Materials: 1 Long Yellow or long Pink Knifty Knitter TM Loom 2 sets of Loom Clips 1 Loom Tool 1 Tapestry/Darning Needle 1 Crochet hook (size H/8) Small amount of scrap yarn 1 Skein #4 worsted weight Lion Brand Wool Ease

2 Pattern Notes: Toe lengths vary greatly. The amount of rows given is a guide only. For best results, measure each of your toes before knitting. The knit stitch is used throughout (not e-wrap). A crochet hook will assist you when you place st(s) from loom clips onto scrap yarn. The drawstring cast on or gathered cast on method is used for each toe. For help on this visit: Always CO in a clockwise direction. You will need to know how to do a short row heel. For help on this visit: Stitch Pattern: K2, P2 rib is used on the cuff Abbreviations: CO = Cast On BO = Bind Off P = Purl K = Knit WY = Working Yarn St(s) = Stitch, stitches EW = E-wrap W&T=Wrap and turn Directions (Left Foot): 1. On the left side of a long loom snap a loom clip on the base in the 3 rd set of holes. 2. Drawstring CO all 6 pegs in the round. 3. Knit 7 rows 4. Clip WY, leaving a 6 inch tail. 5. Place st on loom clip onto scrap yarn, tuck it and tail into toe to get it out of your way. Beginning CO peg for 6. Remove loom clip, turn clip around and snap back each into toe. 3rd set of holes so grooved edge faces the first toe.

3 7. Attach a second loom clip so there are 6 pegs in the round. 8. Drawstring CO all 6 pegs. 9. Knit 8 rows 10. Clip WY, leaving a 6 inch tail. 11. Place st(s) from both loom clips onto scrap yarn. Replace st back onto 1 st loom clip and reach down into 1 st toe and replace this st back onto the 1 st clip also. Tuck the st from the 2 nd loom clip into toe to get it out of your way. Tuck all scrap yarn into toes to get them out of your way. 12. Remove only the 2nd loom clip. Turn clip around and snap back into same set of holes. 13. Add another loom clip so there are 6 pegs in the round for 3 rd toe. 14. Drawstring CO all 6 pegs in the round. 15. Knit 9 rows 16. Clip WY, leaving a 6 inch tail. 17. Place st(s) from both loom clips onto scrap yarn. Place stitch from 2 nd loom clip back onto to the loom clip peg. Place st from the previous toe onto same clip. Tuck st from the 3 rd loom clip into toe to get out of your way. Tuck all tails and scrap yarn into toes to get out of your way. 18. Remove only the 3rd loom clip. Turn clip around and snap back into same set of holes. 19. Attach a 4 th loom clip so there are 6 pegs in the round. 20. Drawstring CO all 6 pegs. 21. Knit 10 rows 22. DO NOT clip WY after you ve completed the 4 th toe. 23. Place st from 3 rd loom clip onto scrap yarn. Replace this st back onto loom clip peg. Reach down into 3 rd toe and replace st on scrap yarn onto 3 rd loom clip. Tuck all tails and scrap yarn into toes to get them out of your way. 24. Knit 3 rows all the way around the active pegs on the loom (all 4 toes). 25. Clip WY, leaving a 6 inch tail. 26. Remove first 3 loom clips. 27. Place st from remaining loom clip onto scrap yarn. Tuck tail and scrap yarn into 4 th toe to get out of your way. 28. Remove loom clip, turn around and snap back into same set of holes. 29. Add a second loom clip so there are 8 pegs in the round for the big toe. 30. Drawstring CO all 8 pegs. 31. Knit 14 rows 32. Place st from loom clip on the inside of the loom (between the 4 th toe and the big toe) onto scrap yarn and replace onto loom clip

4 peg. Reach into 4 th toe and replace the st on scrap yarn onto the loom clip. Tuck all tails and scrap yarn into toes to get out of your way. 33. K 32 rows or until work measures 1 inches less than desired length of foot, removing loom clip between big toe and 4 th toe after a few rows. 34. Begin short row heel a. K from peg 1 to peg 10, W&T peg 11 b. K from peg 10 to peg 2, W&T peg 1 c. K from peg 2 to peg 9, W&T peg 10 d. K from peg 9 to peg 3, W&T peg 2 e. K from peg 3 to peg 8, W&T peg 9 f. K from peg 8 to peg 4, W&T peg 3 g. Begin consolidation row for heel h. K from peg 4 to peg 9, making sure to knit two over one on peg 9 (this will be done from this point forward) i. K from peg 9 to peg 3 j. K from peg 3 to peg 10 k. K from peg 10 to peg 2 l. K from peg 2 to peg 11 m. K from peg 11 to peg 1 n. Short row heel complete 35. K2, P2 rib for 25 rows for cuff 36. Crochet BO all pegs. 37. Clip WY and weave tail in on the inside of the sock 38. Pull drawstring on tips of toes and weave in tails Directions (Right Foot): 1. Followed steps 1-32 as outlined for left foot. 2. K 31 rows or until work measures 1 inches less than desired length of foot, removing loom clip between big toe and 4 th toe after a few rows. 3. Knit pegs Begin short row heel (pegs 13-23) your new peg number 1 was peg 13 a. K from peg 1 to peg 10, W&T peg 11 b. K from peg 10 to peg 2, W&T peg 1 c. K from peg 2 to peg 9, W&T peg 10 d. K from peg 9 to peg 3, W&T peg 2 e. K from peg 3 to peg 8, W&T peg 9 f. K from peg 8 to peg 4, W&T peg 3 g. Begin consolidation row for heel

5 h. K from peg 4 to peg 9, making sure to knit two over one on peg 9 (this will be done from this point forward) i. K from peg 9 to peg 3 j. K from peg 3 to peg 10 k. K from peg 10 to peg 2 l. K from peg 2 to peg 11 m. K from peg 11 to peg 1 n. Short row heel complete o. After completing the consolidation row, slip peg 1 (old peg 13), knit peg 2 (old peg 14), began doing P2, K2 all the way around (counts as row 1 for cuff). 5. K2, P2 rib for 24 more rows for cuff 6. Crochet BO all pegs. 7. Clip WY and weave tail in on the inside of the sock 8. Pull drawstring on tips of toes and weave in tails Seaming the toe gaps: Find tail yarn from the live stitch you placed onto scrap yarn.

6 Thread into tapestry needle. Locate second live stitch you placed onto scrap yarn. Tug up on stitches using the scrap yarn to tighten gaps. Thread needle through ladder from side of stitches on opposite side of toe from where tail yarn is coming from.

7 Thread live stitch your working yarn is attached to next and remove scrap yarn. Thread live stitch on opposite side that was placed onto scrap yarn. Remove scrap yarn.

8 Turn sock and sew in same manner as you did on the front of the sock, alternating sides. Weave in tail. About the Designer: Karen Gielen has been designing as long as she can remember.
