2 NOTES 1. 5 Strips are worked then n together following a diagram to make the Afghan. 2. Each Strip is worked with 2 colors of yarn. The colors change on each step so when you finish a step, you ll cut the colors you don t need anymore. Whenever you cut a color or join a color, leave yarn tails at least 6 in. (15 cm) long. You ll weave in these yarn tails after you finish the knitting. 3. In Steps 2-8 and Steps 10-19, you ll work 2 rows with one color, then 2 rows with the second color. You don t need to cut the yarns between these color changes just carry the color you re not using along the side edge of the Strip. Just let the strand of yarn lay smoothly against the Strip don t pull it too tight! 4. The steps are worked in a 4 row pattern this means that you just keep repeating Rows 1-4 for as many times as the pattern tell you to. 5. When the pattern says to slip a st, hold the yarn to the back of your work and slip the st just as if you were purling. STEP 1 - STRIP I (make 3) STEP 1 With A, cast on 25 sts. Purl 1 row. STEP 2 In Step 2, you ll be working with colors A and C. Remember that you don t need to cut either color, just carry the color you re not using along the side edge until you need it again. Join C. Row 1: With C, p1, *sl 1, p1; rep from * across. Row 2: With C, purl. Row 3: With A, p2, sl 1, *p1, sl 1; rep from * to last 2 sts, p2. Row 4: With A, purl. Rows 5-48: Rep Rows 1-4 eleven more times.
