(10 cm); 20 rows = about 5 1/4 in. (13.5 cm) in Garter (k every st on every row). Each Strip measures about 15 in. (38 cm) wide. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. PATTERN STITCH Basketweave Pattern (worked over a multiple of 8 sts + 2 additional sts) Row 1 (RS): Knit. Rows 2-6: K1, *p4, k4; rep from * to last st, k1. Row 7: Knit. Row 8-12: K1, *k4, p4; rep from * to last st, k1. Rows 13-18: Rep Rows 1-6. NOTES 1. Three Strips are worked separately, then sewn together to make the Afghan. 2. The Strips are worked in Garter st (k every st on every row) and a Basketweave pattern. 3. The yarn color is changed in the Garter st sections to make stripes. The Basketweave sections are worked with a single yarn color. 4. The Basketweave pattern can be worked by following the written instructions or the Chart. Read RS rows of Chart from right to left and WS rows from left to right. STRIP I With C, cast on 34 sts. Striped Garter St Section Work in Garter st (k every st on every row) for 40 rows, changing yarn color as follows: Work 14 rows with C, (2 rows with A, 2 rows with C) 6 times, 2 rows with A.

Work in Garter st for 24 rows, changing yarn color as follows: Work (2 rows with C, 2 rows with E) 3 times, 12 rows with C. Bind off as if to knit. STRIP II With B, cast on 34 sts. Striped Garter St Section Work in Garter st (k every st on every row) for 40 rows, changing yarn color as follows: Work 26 rows with B, 14 rows with A. Basketweave Section Change to B.
