Project (or projects) must use 500 yards of Classic Elite Yarns purchased this year. Project can be knit or crocheted. Pattern can be from Classic Elite Spring 2018 collection a pattern of your choice. Projects using Classic Elite 6 packs that are completed before the end of March can be dual entered in the CEY 6 pack KAL and the Sheep s Clothing Classic Elite Knit a Long. 1

Learn to sculpt wool with a barbed needle to form the body. Then give your bunny its very own individual face with surface embellishment techniques. The techniques you ll learn in this class can be applied to making your own menagerie of small needle felted creatures. As you make your bunny, Susan will help you see how each of the major body parts could be adapted to needle felt other animals. When you grab the mitt to pull cookies out of the oven you will appreciate the superior insulating properties of a thick wool felt. 3 Mirri Mitts Mirri is the word for stars in the language of the native Australians. Designer Ambah O Brien has created a fingerless mitt with little eyelets reminiscent of twinkles of starlight. These lightweight mitts are especially beautiful worked in Koigu Sparkle. This project is suitable for adventurous beginners, but also an interesting quick knit for the experienced knitter. You may be inspired to knit up the matching hat and cowl in the Mirri collection. Monday 5 to 7 pm March 12, 19 $30 plus supplies Teacher: Debbie 3 Vitamin D Heidi Kirmaier s Vitamin D cardie features a flutter front opening. It shares some features with its sister sweater, Storm Mountain, but works up as a lighter weight garment. The top down raglan shaping is worked in a non-traditional method, using a series of eyelets worked along radials to create the yoke shaping. The same method is used to create the flared hem. A series of short rows is worked to create the flutter front, making this an advanced project for experienced and adventurous knitters. 4 Magic Loop Short Row Heel Socks Why do so many knitters love making socks? Find out for yourself in this class using Pairfect self-striping sock yarn. The yarn is dyed to give you two perfectly matched socks. You'll knit your socks using the magic loop method. Your heel will be done in Susan's own version of the German Short Row heel. You'll enjoy the lively color patterns appearing in your socks designed by Arne and Carlos, inspirational knitwear designers from Norway. 1 to 3 pm Mar 10, 17, 24 $40 plus supplies Teacher: Susan Socks: Toe Up If you are confident knitting cuff down socks, it may be time to change things up by working your sock in the other direction. Begin at the toe with a figure 8 double-sided cast on and immediately start increasing for the foot. 5 Mystic Lanterns Crochet-a Long Jane Crowfoot has worked out a clever meld of the architectural ogee shape and the humble granny square. The ogee motifs are first crocheted end to end in strips. The strips are then crocheted together with a contrast color. Our afghan version currently underway is using all 12 colors of Liberty Wool Shadow by Classic Elite Yarns. Finer fingering weight yarns will be great for the scarf and shawl versions. For those who have making colors decisions for multi-color projects, Jane has a foolproof system to keep you from wasting valuable crochet time thinking about what color to use next. 6 Fair Isle February&March Fair Isle February & March is a chance to experience the fun of stranded color knitting. Practice is the secret to mastering fair isle. There are a few techniques and rules that are important to master. But ultimately it will be up to you to put in the practice, practice, practice necessary to get this skill under your fingers and into muscle memory. Schedule a private startup lesson in the basics of color stranded knitting. We ll help you choose beginner friendly patterns from our large notebook of charts. You can decide as you go if you want your cowl to be a short and sweet single cowl or a long and lush double wrap cowl. Private class to be arranged $15.00 Post Stitch Crochet Scarf This crochet scarf uses post stitches to create the appearance of a woven fabric. It is a perfect design to use with one of Classic Elite Yarns 6 packs. Each row will be worked with a new yarn, but don t worry about lots of tails. They will be incorporated into the fringe. In class we ll make a small sample piece that will work you through the crochet methods that may be new to you: foundation single crochet, standing stitches, and post stitches. 7 Dear Knit Doctor, I have heard rumors that Sheep s Clothing will be sponsoring a summer trip to Norway. Can you please confirm or deny. Possible Traveler, Valparaiso, Indiana Dear Possible Traveler, There is a kernel of truth to the rumor. We have noticed that our customers give as much thought to planning their travel knitting as they do to their actual travel. This June, July, and August, we will be helping you create your very own authentic Norwegian cardigan. It will be full of yummy (for knitters) details such as a cut and sewn steek, a sewn on button band, and a facing to cover the raw edge of the steek. Now, seriously, ask yourself, How could a fjord ever compare with a steeked button band with an actual facing? So this summer, we invite you to join us for a knitting staycation to Norway. No passport and airline hassles. No jetlag. Just hours of enjoyable knitting, experienced people to help you through the details, knitting friends to cheer you on, and a beautiful Nordic cardigan at the end of your journey. You will need to have your color stranded knitting skills down before beginning this project. 8 Knitting for Beginners Learn to knit by making swatches of basic stitches. Emphasis is placed on learning to read your stitches so that you can become a confident knitter. You ll learn to use circular and double pointed needles while making the hat. You ll also learn to read a multi gauge pattern. The scarf combines the cable, lace, and other stitches you learned in Knitting for Beginners with an emphasis on learning to read your stitches to build your knitting skill set.
