2 Dare to Repair Challenge yourself to understand your knitting in a way that you never have before. Learn the anatomy of a happy, balanced knit stitch. See how stitches fit together to form a knit fabric. Using bulky and medium weight swatches, we will practice, practice, practice some of the most useful repair moves so that you can confidently perform basic repairs and get back to your knitting. Tuesday 7 to 9 pm Sept 18, 25, Oct 2 $45 plus supplies Teacher: Paula Fair Isle Christmas Stocking Begin that Christmas stocking on your to do list now, early in the year, when there is no holiday pressure and the luxury of time to enjoy your knitting. This class is perfect for first time fair-isle knitters. Debbie loves introducing people to color stranded knitting and has a bag of tricks to help you be successful. The planing process is also interesting to experienced fair-isle knitters. Choose your own combination of charts for traditional Christmas motifs from a selection that includes all the favorites such as Santas, candy canes, hearts, snowflakes, Xmas trees, and reindeer. 3 Crochet Jacket Jenny King's Crochet Jacket is worked in Noro Silk Garden. It uses the most familiar crochet stitches to create a circle that becomes a shawl collar and jacket front. Add long sleeves and you are ready to be cozy in crochet this fall. 4 Entrelac Entrelac is one of the great tricks of the knitting world. Is it woven? Does it involve a lot of sewing? None of the above. You'll work with self-striping yarn which creates the illusion that each small section is made from a separate yarn source, when in fact you'll be working with one continuous strand. It's also a great opportunity to try the option of knitting back backwards so that you can work with the right side of the piece facing you at all times. Choose the wide shawl version or a narrower scarf version and finish with an elegant knotted fringe. You ll be working with Queensland United Foursome, a machine washable, organic blend of wool and cotton. Susan will help you recombine your 4 colors by double stranding to produce many more shades as you progress through the ever changing stitch patterns in this piece. Japanese Lace Scarf A brand new stitch dictionary is full of stitch patterns that will get your fingers itching to start knitting Japanese inspired lace patterns. Heidi will show you how to translate a page in a stitch dictionary into your own scarf pattern. Things to think about include edge stitches, pattern repeats, and revising the chart to make it more friendly to your own style of knitting. You ll learn to use circular and double pointed needles while making the hat. You ll also learn to read a multi gauge pattern. The scarf combines the cable, lace, and other stitches you learned in Knitting for Beginners with an emphasis on learning to read your stitches to build your knitting skill set.
