1 January April 2009 Happy almost new year from Quilted Treasures! It s time to complete our many to do lists and to think about life after the rush of holiday activities. We have a stellar line up of classes for 2009 and we invite you into our classroom to see many beautiful samples. As always, we have a fantastic beginner program, great next step classes, technique classes, challenge classes, and some classes just for fun. Classes are a great way to commit to a project and to renew your excitement for the creative craft of quilting. We d love to help with your fabric selection and answer questions you may have about the upcoming class projects. Quilt Basics Perfect for beginners or quilters with just a little experience, our Quilt Basics class covers many common methods used in quilting. Included in this seven part class is: rotary cutting, accurate machine piecing, strip piecing, triangle unit methods, paper piecing, log cabin piecing, border application, layering, machine quilting and binding. The most common response from quilters completing this class is that they received superior instruction, had fun, and that they can approach their next quilt project with confidence. Project Classes SUMMER LAKE LOG CABIN: Another smashing design by Judy Martin, this log cabin quilt is made from traditional log cabin blocks paired with Greek Key log cabin blocks. Doris is an expert at organizing Judy Martin s designs in a way to make an awesome quilt a fun project. Instructor: Doris Hareland Sundays: Jan. 4 th, Feb. 1 st March 1 st 12-4pm Cost: $20+ book Kit available by request PIROUETTE: We are playing with Judy Martin s Knockout book once again! Mary s new project is based on a simple star with points that appear to intersect one another. Looks hard, but it ain t! 2 HOLLYHOCK GARDEN: is a quilt that celebrates the 1930 s both in design and color. Learn Linda s tricks to make this charming quilt based on 60 triangles. True to the era, Linda completed her quilt with a Rick Rack Scallop. Using Gudrun s quick method to layer, stitch, flip and finish you may finish your runner in class! Check out our new sample showing off a new collection in a soft purple/green palette. Instructor: Caroyle Brown Monday, January 19th 9am-4pm Cost: $20+book JUST SHOWING OFF: with just one easy block to learn this class is great for less experienced quilters. Kits are available in Anna Marie Horner s latest fabric line, but any collection of 1/3 yard cuts will work. With the all-day class format and Carol s tips you ll get a great start on this queen size quilt. Our sample shows off Farmer s Market fabric, new by Sandi Henderson. Baby Floss is a quilt that will satisfy both Gramma and today s mommy. Instructors: Mary & Kristina Wilberg Sunday, April 5 th 12pm-4pm Cost: $20+pattern Technique Classes DEMO DAY: Select just one topic, or attend all four. Topics Include: Pellon Products; Sulky 12 weight thread; EZ Wrights Tool Talk; and Paper Piecing. We will demonstrate products and techniques in a lecture/example presentation. Saturday, January 24th (demos will be offered in one hour time slots from & 1-3) 10:00am- Pellon Products: How and Armo-Weft to use Wonder Under, Fusible Fleece, Peltex, Stitch & Tear 11:00am- Sulky 12 weight cotton thread: used as an alternative to embroidery floss for handwork or as a professional finish on machine appliquéd projects.

3 1:00pm- Tool Talk: How to use the Easy Angle, Companion Angle, Tri-Recs and Tri-Mate tools by EZ Wrights. Whimsy Quilt Pattern by Darlene Zimmerman will be used as a sample project for this demo. 2:00pm- Paper Piecing: a general How-To that can be adapted to any foundation pieced pattern. We recommend paper piecing projects by MH Designs. Instructors: Mary Wilberg and Julie Peterson Cost: $5 each or $15 for all four demos STARCH METHOD APPLIQUE: Are you afraid of the A word? If so, you haven t taken the starch method class with Linda Hohag! Choose any Brandywine Designs project and learn perfect appliqué from the best. Instructor: Linda Hohag Saturday, February 7 th 12pm-4pm Cost: $25+book/pattern MACHINE QUILTING: Practice, practice, practice is what makes a good free-motion quilter! Julie can help you lose the fear of dropping your feed dogs and help you gain confidence in your machine quilting. Instructor: Julie Peterson Sunday, February 15 th 12pm-3pm Cost: $20 includes practice quilt sandwich Clubs These clubs give you an opportunity to make blocks or projects monthly. We will provid e a sample for inspiration, and convenient kits prepared for you at a reasonable price. See each club for details. RUNNER OF THE MONTH: Table runners are perfect for seasonal décor, for gifts, or just for practicing your quilting skills. Each month we feature a new runner sample. Participants in the club receive a 15% discount on the kit each month, and get their month six pattern for free. Must register for six months. (No registration fee.) Kit cost: varies each month. Pattern or book cost: varies each month. (If we choose to use a design from a book, we will use that book for more than one month.) OLD MAID CLUB: This is not a club for singles; it is a club for quilters who love playing with fabric and quilt blocks! Based on the book, 501 Rotary Cut Quilt Blocks by Judy Hopkins, we make 6 blocks a month for 10 months. With block fabric leftovers, you can create a crazy quilt border for a big finish! JO S LITTLE WOMEN: Step back in time and enjoy primitive little quilt projects using Jo Morton fabrics. Linda will share tips and patterns from Jo and lead group activities for those interested in reproduction quilts. 4 SEW DOMESTIC: Bring your own project to work on or participate in the optional project offered at each meeting. The purpose of this club is to set aside some time for yourself to create in a relaxing and fun environment! All projects will be small and can be easily completed with a little extra work time at home!
