I hope everyone was able to get to the Indian Summer Quilt Show and enjoyed the new venue. There were many beautiful quilts to inspire. I am proud to say my daughter Jennifer was awarded Best of Show for small quilts, first place for original design, and an instructor s choice award. Peggy also won first place on her quilt constructed in Kari Huber s class here at the shop! Congratulations to all the winners and participants! Our new Create with Embroidery was a great success! This month the project is a free standing leaf. You can come for the instruction and do the project at home or embroider with us in the shop. Many are already signed up for October, but we still have room, so call for Snippets from Sandy your reservation. If you would like to embroider between class times you are welcome to do so. Souper Sewing Friday starts October 19, so round up those class projects and come sew with us. Spots are limited, so register early. Due to popular demand, payment is required to hold your spot. Hoopsister has just introduced their newest creation Let it Snow tree skirt. We will be hosting another Hoopsister sewing weekend October 20 and 21. We have many new ideas in the shop for the holidays! Our second shipment of Dreammaker and Unity sewing/embroidery machines will be arriving any day. Stop in for a demo and be inspired! Hoopsisters just released a new tree skirt design that would be perfect to work on. They also have a ton of other great designs to choose from. There will be games and prizes throughout the weekend. 2 P A G E 2 Quilt It Intermediate Quilting You have made one or two projects in quilting and feel confident with the basics. Now you are ready to move forward. This class will deal with triangles, bias edges, mitered corners, etc. $50 plus book (same book used in Beginning Quilting) & supplies, BYOM Class time - 3 sessions of 3 hours Wed., Oct. 10, 17, & 24: 1-4 or 5:30-8:30 Rag Quilt This is a fun scrappy project so don t worry about which color of fabric is next to each other. The best part is you don t have to quilt it; that s done as you re sewing it. After the quilt is done, you just wash and the frayed edges hide a multiple of sins. We have a lot of wonderful flannels for you to choose from at the store. $30 plus pattern and supplies, BYOM Class time - 1 session of 4 hours Thurs., Oct. 25: 5:30-9:30 pm Youth Sewing Over the next two months we will be making this adorable turkey wall hanging using a classic quilt motif, the dresden plate. The class fee of $30 includes both the October and November class session as well as all fabric needed to complete the top. Saturday, October 13 & November 10: 1-4 pm Covered Hot Pad Bowl Ouch-Have you ever burned a finger from a too hot dish taken from the microwave? Join us in this class to sew a holder for that dish and a splatter guard to cover it. It is not fun to clean an oven with specks of splattered food. Make a set for yourself and one as a gift. $20 plus pattern and supplies, BYOM Class time - 1 session of 3 hours Mon. Oct. 8: 1-4pm or 5:30-8:30pm And More... Felted Snowman Character Cute little wool snowman is sure to put a smile on your face as you work on it. 4 P A G E 4 Sewing Machine & Serger Classes Explore Your Sewing Machine Explore the features and stitches of your new machine. You will stitch samples of the utility stitches, buttonhole(s) and basic sewing techniques. No charge for machines purchased at Rae-Bon, $50 for others. BYOM Computerized machines Brother NS 40, NS 80, NX , NX2000, NV950D, NV1250D, NV1500D, NV2800D, NV4500D, NV5000, NV6000D, NV6700D Baby Lock Grace, Elizabeth, Melody, Symphony, Ellure, Esante, Ellageo, Ellagante, Ellisimo, Ellisimo Gold Saturday, October 6: 10am-2pm Embroidery Basics (for all machines that do hooped computerized embroidery) This class will cover the basics of machine embroidery which includes machine functions, thread selection, stabilizer selection and positioning designs. No charge for machines purchased at Rae-Bon, $150 for others. BYOM Saturday, October 6: 1-4pm Introduction to Quilting on the Crown Jewel The class will cover how to load your quilt onto the Crown Jewel Quilt Frame and do free motion quilting. You will work one on one with the instructor to load your quilt top (no larger than 60" x 60") on the quilt frame. At the completion of the class you will leave with a quilt ready to be bound. You will also need to bring backing that is 8" larger than the quilt top. $130 includes a set of zippers and a package of bobbins Thursday, October 4 or Tuesday, October 9 or Thursday, October 18 or Monday, October 22: 1-6 pm Class Policies Call or stop in to sign up and pay for the class of your choice. Class fee is due when you register. Phone registrations ( ) accepted only with a charge card payment. The class supply list will be available when you register and pay for the class. Supplies are not included in the class fee. Please have supplies purchased before class. Kits required are available at the store. BYOM means bring your own machine. No photocopied patterns or books will be allowed in classes. We consider your enrollment to be a commitment by you to take the class and we in turn make a commitment to the instructor. No cancellations are allowed on classes. Thank you for not asking us to make exceptions. Your sewing machine or serger must be in top working condition before you arrive at class. Students whose equipment is not working properly disturb and slow down the class. We service all brands of machines and sergers so come see us prior to the start of the class. If you get together a group of 2 or more friends, we would be happy to setup a class date and time just for you.

5 Create with Embroidery Please call to pre-register P A G E 5 Join us the first Friday of each month to learn a machine embroidery technique. Anita Goodesign has developed video tutorials that we are excited to share with you. Each video explains the project and step by step how tos. You ll receive a packet with the embroidery design needed for the project and additional bonus designs ($60 value). After watching the video, you can decide to purchase a kit to complete the project or work on your own embroidery projects. Cost is $15 and includes a coupon for $5 off the next consecutive month. Anita Goodesigns will be on special that day. Buy 1 at 20% off or buy 2 get 1 free. October s project will be a free standing leaf. Classroom open 10 am-midnight. Friday, October 5 Video played at 11 am, 2 pm, and 6:30 pm Jo Morton Club The memoires of Jo will be brought to Rae-Bon in Jo s Little Women Club. Eight patterns for lap or doll quilts and wall hangings will be used through the year. These are exclusive to the Jo Mortons club 11. Meetings will include sampling foods, guests, great door prizes, show and tell, and possibly even field trips. $60 for 12 months. New participants are still able to register. You ll receive all the patterns from the beginning of the club and be able to participate in events from this point forward. Tuesday, October 9: 2-4 pm or 6-8 pm Monthly Gatherings Quattro Showcase Do you have a Quattro (6000D or 6700D) or are considering purchasing one. This is a great chance to see all the Quattro has to offer. Each month we will demonstrate a feature of the Quattro or show a new accessory. Some of the features/accessories will work on other machines in the line. Space is limited, so you must sign up in advance. 10% discount on any accessories shown and purchased that day. This month we will be showing the V Foot. Thursday, October 11 Demonstrations at 11 am, 3 pm, or 6:30 pm Stitcher s Garden Party Day We will continue to work on the Stitcher s Garden Block of the Month. Each block makes use of all the decorative stitches on your sewing machine. There is still room to sign up if you d like to join. Check the quilt out on our website. The cost is $16 per month with a $45 initial sign up fee. Monday, October 15: 10 am-6 pm Demo & Dessert We ll provide some tasty desserts while you learn about new products, machines, or fabrics that have arrived in the past month. We will also handout the monthly Stash Pot Pie Pattern (see page 6). Receive a 10% discount on any new items highlighted that day. Tuesday, October 23: 1 pm or 6:30 pm Souper Sewing Friday Are you currently enrolled in a class or gathering and need more guidance? Or just want to sew with others? Then sign up for Souper Sewing Friday. We will have an instructor here to help you from 10 am to midnight. So bring your machine and a project-we ll provide soup, dessert, and assistance. Cost is $10 and you must register 24 hours in advance. Friday, October 19: 10 am-6 pm or 6 pm-midnight

Has a family member or close friend ever expressed concern or complained about the size of your stash? If you ve answered yes to any of the questions above Stash Pot Pie is for you! Join us each month to get a new pattern that will make use of your stash. The patterns contains instructions for lap to king size quilts. Patterns will be handed out on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Demo & Desserts. You ll get to try some tasty desserts and see all the new products and fabric that have come to the shop in the last month. Sign up for September through December 2012 for $20 or September through August 2013 for $50 (Get 2 months free by signing up for the full year).
