Intrductin 1.1 Backgrund On the 24th March 2014 the Prime Minister launched the Digital Malta Strategy which will guide the cuntry t attain the 2020 Visin that Malta will prsper as a digitally-enabled natin in all sectrs f sciety. The strategy cnsists f six strategic themes which in ttal cmprise f 71 Actins which are visinary statements and prvide plicy directin. Detailed and specific ICT initiatives are identified n an annual basis in a separate supprting dcument referred t as Prgramme f Initiatives (PI). The PI fr 2014 was launched tgether with the Strategy in March Each initiative identified in the PI is linked t an Actin within the Strategy. Different rganisatins wn different initiatives. Empwering the yung thrugh a safer Internet Netwrked (ENTER) A ttal f 5,200 applicatins fr training rganised by MCA. 2,500 individuals attended training sessins during #stphate campaign MITA, tgether with 89.7 Bay and General Sft Drinks C Ltd, launched a natinwide awareness campaign against cyber bullying. #StpHate was launched n 12th December Empwering vulnerable / minrity grups and the elderly BeSmartOnline students were given a lessn n Digital Citizenship. 3 seminars were held fr PSD, Health and Safety and elearning teachers which were attended t by 450 educatrs. LiveICT eageing (prject einclusin) In 2014, 32 einclusin sessins were rganised and 270 individuals trained. 4. Accessibility and Assistive Technlgy Empwering Older Citizens with Digital Skills MITA engaged a number f lder trainers t deliver ICT training t peers in their cmmunities. Student Advantage Scheme Launched in the first quarter f 2014 by MITA and Micrsft Malta fr primary and secndary schls and MCAST students. The benefits f this scheme include the free use f Micrsft Office 365 n 5 different devices and SkyDrive. IT accessibility mini EXPO FITA rganised a demnstratin f assistive ICT and a number f presentatins cvering service ffers, ICT accessibility in practice and research prjects. 5. Online Electrnic Frms In 2014, 14 electrnic frms were deplyed. There are nw 210 nline electrnic frms available t the general public. Optimising egvernment Services A study that analyses hw Gvernment websites and egvernment services can be ptimised fr mbile devices cnsumptin was cmpleted. A prject (Strengthening Cmpetences t Service the Public Efficiently Thrugh egvernment) was launched with the aims f: i. Raising awareness with the general public n eservices; ii. Building capacity within Gvernment t assist citizens and businesses in accessing and using eservices; and iii. Identifying the reasns which are negatively impacting the take-up f eservices by citizens. 27. One-stp shp The Office f the Prime Minster is wrking n a prject t establish ne-stp-shps fr Citizens. 28. In ttal 552 students cming frm 21 different schls benefited frm this experience. STEM Summer Club MITA emplyed students t manage the Club and t create a game have ended their placement. Over 200 students spread acrss five partner schls benefited frm this initiative. Natinal Cding Cmpetitin 92 entries were received; where in ttal 216 students have used prgramming skills t create an animated game frm scratch.
