They are available i 10 sizes ad offer load capacities up to 25 toe per mout. There are 3 stadard dampig optios, 3 istallatio optios ad a rage of accessories icludig Farrat Screw Assemblies, Farrat Ati-Vibratio Washers ad Farrat Spheriseats. The Stadard Grade* offers the greatest amout of dampig but does have the greatest compressio uder load, so is recommeded for machies which have a high level of structural stiffess. The Very Stiff Grade* offers the greatest support with little deflectio, but with the beefits of micro-dampig to improve the performace of the machie. To achieve the greatest support / stiffess for a machie, the Precisio Wedgemout without pads is recommeded. *See datatables o page 6 for Grade details. 3 3 Farrat Wedgemouts are available i three forms: Freestadig (F) The machie rests o the Wedgemout with o bolted coectio. The top pad aids dampig ad provides a high frictio surface for the machie foot to grip to. Bolt-O (B) The machie is bolted to the Wedgemout which sits o the floor esurig a fixed coectio betwee the Wedgemout ad machie. This helps with machie istallatio as the Wedgemout ca be fitted to the machie prior to fial machie placemet. Farrat Dampig Pads Farrat Dampig Pads Bolt-Through (T) The machie is bolted through the Wedgemout ad ito the foudatio. This optio provides the stiffest coectio ad is used for large bed / low stiffess machies where the foudatio ca add to the stiffess of the machie. Ati-vibratio washers are required with this optio to prevet vibratio bridgig through the bolted coectio. 4 4 MAM-Wedgemouts-18a Wedgemout Istallatio Heavy Machiery Istallatio o Wedgemouts ad Precisio Levellig Elemets. METHOD 1: Where facilities are available for lowerig machie oto the mouts usig a crae. Figures 1.1 ad Place the mouts i positio o the floor. Figure Adjust them all to a commo height usig a laser level or straight edge ad spirit level from oe mout to the ext. Figure 1.3 2b. If there is isufficiet adjustmet o ay mout to cater for excessive floor slope or ueve surfaces, idividual mouts may be packed up to brig them i lie with the others usig a combiatio of steel plates ad Farrat Squaregrip pads. Packers ca cosist of a steel plate with a 5mm thick Farrat Squaregrip SG (SG5P2) pad boded to the uderside. The packer should be at least the same size as the uderside of the mout. Should it be foud that a mout requires udue torque, icremetally adjust the eighbourig mouts so that the liftig load is shared by several mouts, or use acillary jacks. 5. After the machie has bee levelled, check that each mout is takig load by applyig a spaer to each screw ad esurig that the mout is tight. 6. Check aligmet after 24 hours ad correct if ecessary. 7. 5 5 METHOD 2: Where o crae facilities are available. Figures Before the machie is brought ito positio place the mouts o the floor ad adjust them all to a commo height usig a laser level or straight edge ad spirit level from oe mout to the ext. Mark the locatio of each mout the move them to oe side. Figure 2.1 Figure Brig the machie ito positio ad leave o temporary packig, or rollers or jacks. Esure that there is sufficiet gap betwee the uderside of the machie ad the floor to accommodate the mout. Figure 2.3 Figure Esure that before the machie is lowered oto the mouts, the slidig surfaces of the WL mouts are all i cotact with each other, i.e., that the wedges have ot ridde up o their keys. 15. Never use excessive torque whe adjustig upwards. Brig up several mouts together i small icremets. This will esure that the heavy overloads durig levellig ca be shared by several mouts. Should the machie be twisted, it may be possible to correct this by temporarily jackig the machie (with the WL mouts) i oppositio to the twist ad leavig for 24 hours. Figure Alteratively 18. If the twist is excessive the the precedig method may ot work. This would be particularly the case if a light ed of the machie was twisted relative to a heavy ed. I this case it will be ecessary to clamp the machie dow o the high side of the twist ad adjust the mouts o the low side util the twist is pulled out. Figure 2.6

6 6 MAM-Wedgemouts-18a How to select Farrat Wedgemouts STEP 1. If dampig is required, please refer to Table 1 to select the appropriate grade of dampig. If o dampig is required, the grade will be P for Precisio Levellig with o pads. Selectio is made accordig to whether the Wedgemout is Free Stadig, Bolt-O or Bolt-Through. A Selectio Example is provided o Page 5 ad highlighted i the tables. Selectio Example: 10 toe CNC lathe with four poits each supportig a equal amout of load. Load per Wedgemout = 2,500kg. Machie foot dimesios are 200mm x 200mm with a cetral 22mm clearace hole. The machie foudatio is to be re-located o a flat cocrete base. Step 1: Select Dampig Grade - Usig Table 1, select the Machie Type from the left had colum ad search across to where a tick idicates the correct dampig grade accordig to the fixig type. Result: Dampig Grade G. Step 2: Select the Wedgemout style ad dimesios - As the fixig type is Bolt-O refer to Table 3 ad colum G to fid a equal or greater load per Wedgemout (2,500Kg). 3S has a load capacity of 3,000Kg for a Dampig Grade G. The secod umber i the cell provides the mid-height of that size Wedgemout icludig the dampig pads, which is 51mm. Table 3 idicates that the 3S Wedgemout has pla dimesios of 150mm x 150mm which is acceptable as the full area of the Wedgemout is uder load. Poit or part loads are ot recommeded as this may affect the performace of the Wedgemout. Step 3: Check whether the bolt thread size is suitable - Referrig to Table 4, the bolt thread size of the 3S Wedgemout is M20 which fits i a 22mm clearace hole, so it is suitable. As Bolt-O Wedgemouts require a Screw Assembly, this ca be selected from Table 4, which idicates that the 1SN2010 is appropriate for 3S Wedgemouts. If some poits of the floor are ot parallel to the other poits, Spheriseats are recommeded o all Wedgemouts as they allow up to 3.2 of agular misaligmet to esure the load is supported evely ad at a equal height. For the 3S, this would be part referece 1SPS-150. This worked example is for use as a guide oly.
