1 We hold this annual 3 day get together at a lovely location in Kent called Bewl Water. Bewl Water is a reservoir situated between Lamberhurst and Flimwell. The views are spectacular and lovely walks to be enjoyed beside the water or in the surrounding woodland. We have 6 exciting workshops to choose from led by experienced tutors. In the past we concentrated on just Polymer Clay but have now added a fabulous workshop hosted by Debra Jenkinson on how to create a really unique journal. Artist and author Helen Cruickshank will be teaching 2 Polymer Clay workshops. Karen Walker will be back and me too. Stroll through the workshop pages for more information. ALSO, during the evenings of Friday 9th and Saturday 10th we will have a mini Powertex Workshop led by Certified Powertex Tutor Sue Baylis. Saturday evening another treat, Debra Jenkinson, our expert in the art of Powertex and mixed media will show you some exciting things to do with Powertex. Our very own Chef James will be there to cook us some fabulous food. We will have a library and lots of goodies for sale. Above all we will learn lots and have fun meeting old friends and making new ones. The evenings are fun with lots of laughter on the menu. Friday 9th November 2018 Mixed Media Workshop with Tutor Debra Jenkinson Antonio Journal In this workshop we will use a number of different mixed media products and papers to create a journal like one of the examples below. We will be using Stamperia papers, rice paper, stencils, inks and sprays. All products will be included and we will decorate the front, back and two inside covers. As you can see by the last example the journals all come with paper, tags, binding rings and envelope. 3 S.P.C.E. Friday 9th November 2018 Decorate a wine glass and a set of cutlery with Birdy Heywood I love this workshop as we get to create some fabulous canes. Leaves in any colour you would like, flowers and berries. (You choose the colours) We will also be using ultra fine glitter to add that extra magical touch. These sets make excellent Christmas or birthday presents. They are not just for decoration but are suitable for every day use. A great workshop for anyone as I will lead you through the process step by step. No need to bring anything as I will supply the wine glasses, cutlery sets and clay. I will have a few pasta machines at the ready and polymer clay blades. If you have your own favourite tools please feel free to bring them along, but remember to put your name on them. Saturday 10th November 2018 HOLLOW LENTIL BEAD PENDANTS with Helen Cruikshank In this workshop you will make a hollow bead pendant of either a cat, rabbit or fish design, whichever is the most popular. I will show you how to make a Skinner blend with two different methods, and demonstrate all the techniques used to make the five pendants so that you will be able to make a second pendant to your own design. They may not be time during the workshop to complete the second pendant but a written tutorial will be given so you won t have to remember all the techniques. Enough clay for two pendants will be provided, and I shall be using Premo Sculpey and Fimo clay. I will bring all the cutters you need as well as burnishing tools, deli paper and metal bowls to make the pendants on. All you need is: a pasta machine, tile to work on, clay tissue blade, needle tool or cocktail stick, clay roller. If you have any small cutters please bring them, but I will be giving you all five different sized circle cutters to keep, and will bring a variety of my cutters so you can make any of the designs. 5 S.P.C.E. Saturday 10th November 2018 Dragons with Birdy Heywood By popular demand I will yet again be helping people to birth a dragon. It is quite painless I assure you and also great fun. We will be concentrating on expressions and also how to add lots of interesting texture to the dragon s armour and beautiful wings. I will show you how to construct the armature then how to create a magical creature with its own personality. After baking we will work on dry brushing the little being in colours of your choice. I will supply the clay, wire, foil, eyes, texture sheets and acrylics. If you have textures of your own you would like to use, please bring them along. Don t forget to put your name on the things you bring. I will bring a print out of dragon eyes for you to take home with you and also explain how to use them so you can create your own unique eyes. 6 S.P.C.E. Sunday 11th November 2018 Penguins with Karen Walker Delightful penguins. In this fun workshop you ll create a very cute and unique penguin who will have loads of character! 1st you will make the figure then after you will dress the penguin in either a winter coat or jumper! I ll be providing the clay and most of the tools needed. Other materials needed for the workshop can be found in the home. If you contact me I will let you know what they are. 7 S.P.C.E. Sunday 11th November 2018 Christmas Robin Tree Decorations with Helen Cruikshank In this workshop you will make three robins. You will learn to make three different canes: Skinner blend jelly roll, tartan and a bulls eye, and the canes will be large enough to probably make a few more robins at home. I will show you the three different hats, but you can put whichever ones you like on your robins. If you have a particular colour scheme for your tree and would like the robin to fit in with this, just let me know in advance and I ll bring the right colour clay. If you don t have enough time to thread the robins I will provide everything you need to do this at home, along with the beads and thread. All you need is: a pasta machine, tile to work on, clay tissue blade, needle tool or cocktail stick, clay roller. Cost: Each room sleeps 3 or 4 and there is an en-suite in every room. We have 25 spaces in all to stay at the actual venue. ARRIVAL AND BUFFET Arrival time for residential students from 2pm onwards on Thursday 8th November, where you will be greeted with a buffet, get to know each other and settled into your rooms. WORKSHOPS The daily workshops will run from to 4.00 and in some case maybe a little longer. We will take a break for lunch from am to 1.30 pm. There will also be an evening demonstration or mini workshop on Friday and Saturday after our meal.
