Registration is complete upon receipt of fee. ART SUPPLIES Adult students must supply their own materials unless noted otherwise. Supply lists will be provided at registration. Materials for children s courses are included in the registration fee. CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY Refunds are cheques payable to registrants, subject to the following: We Accept: 1. The AGB reserves the right to cancel or combine classes if minimum enrollment is not met. 2. Registrants will be notified seven (7) business days before the scheduled class date. 3. No refund will be given after the third week of an eight week course or 1st day of camp. 4. Except for courses cancelled by the gallery, all refunds will be subject to a twenty-five dollar administration charge and a pro-rated deduction for classes up to AND including the date of the refund request. 5. 3 JULY & AUGUST CLASSES ADULTS 16+ ADULT CLASSES A09 Let's Draw - Fee $185 July 8-31 Tues & Thurs (8 classes) Time: 7-10 pm A beginners course for anyone who wants to improve their drawing skills. Basic skills such as proportion, contour, the creation of depth and shading are stressed. Each lesson includes a demonstration, short lecture and plenty of practice. Instructor: Jonathan Smith A13 Digital Photography Fee $185 July 29 - Aug 21 Tues & Thurs (8 classes) Time: 7-10 pm Improve your photography; get to know your camera, settings and menus. Great start for beginners and valuable review for the advanced photographer. This course is a thorough introduction to digital camera settings and covers not only technical aspects but also the creative side of photography resulting in better images for you. Participants will be challenged to hone their painting skills learning useful tips such as choosing a scene, creating dynamic compositions, colour/palette set-up and mastering varied painting techniques. 4 JULY & AUGUST WORKSHOPS ADULTS 16+ WORKSHOPS W05 Green Screen Photography Fee $55 July 19 Sat (1 class) Time: 9:30 am - 4:30 pm With Green Screen Photography you can place your subject on any background. Save hundreds of dollars in backgrounds by using digital backgrounds available off the web and learn how to place your subject in the correct scale for the background. Learn how to choose the best lighting and clothing and so much more. Class size is limited and will fill up quickly. Instructor: Jorj Takacs W06 Image Transfers Workshop - Fee $125 Aug 6-7, Wed & Thurs (4 classes) Time: 7-10 pm This four session workshop for beginners and returning students will focus on creating art works with a variety of image transfer techniques and commonly associated procedures such as collage. (Image re-presentation, layering and illusory space). Enjoy learning how to combine transfers with painting, drawing and printmaking to make mixed media artworks that express your artistic interests with clarity and confidence. Instructor: Kevin Willson W10 Collage Painting - Fee $125 July 14-16, Mon & Wed (4 classes) Time: 7-10 pm Collage Painting fuses art and non-art materials and techniques to inspire creativity and the production of original artworks. This workshop is designed to accommodate the interests of new and returning students. With the aid of the instructor, work with your chosen painting medium and collage fragments to create wonderful and provocative art pieces. During this two evening workshop you will explore the wonderful medium of using beeswax and oil paint along with various techniques of collage, layering, and adding other small items such as glass and stones to create 2-3 pieces of 5"x7" and 8"x10" creative artworks.materials fee of $30 payable to instructor at first class for wax and other items. 5 W28 Carve a Miniature Owl - Fee $125 July 31 - Aug 21 Thurs (4 classes) Time: 6:30-9:30 pm This 4 evening workshop offers students the opportunity to gain experience in the basics of woodcarving and decorative painting. Students will carve and paint their own miniature owl. There is a materials fee of $40 payable to the instructor at the first class for all required materials. Instructor: Michael Sheppard W43 Paint Big! - Fee $125 July Thurs (4 classes) Time: 7-10 pm Let go of all of your creative inhibitions and have fun painting something big and bold. Use large canvases and large brushes to create your own masterpieces. All levels are welcome and a sense of adventure is encouraged. Materials required include acrylic paints of three colours or more and a canvas of 30"x40" or bigger. Instructor: Sandee Ewasiuk W47 Raku Experiments - Fee $125 July 16,17,23,24 Wed & Thurs (4 classes) Time: 7-10 pm This workshop for experienced potters is participant based. Individuals are encouraged to push the boundary of form and at the last session, vitrify their findings with a raku firing. Surface treatment including glaze application, fuming with salts and sugars, and diversifying materials for reduction will be an exciting part of the greater experiment. Instructor: Reid Flock W53 Metal Mosaic Art - Fee $125 July 7-28 Mon (4 classes) Time: 7-10 pm Learn how to make stunning mosaics using copper, bronze, and other metals to form pictures, tabletops and more. From using sheeting to recycled metal, learn to cut, form, etch, and solder in this hands on workshop. Supplies can be brought in by the student or purchased directly from the instructor. You can by using drawing, collage, fabric, sculpture, printmaking, and so much more! Each class will begin with a theatrical retelling of a popular children s book. A multi-dimensional project designed for a character in each story allows the children to experience literature in an exciting and interactive way. All materials are provided. Instructor: Heather Borsellino C31 Adventures with Art (Ages 4-6yr) - Fee $145 Let's get our hands dirty and get inspired! Together we will explore the wonderful world of creativity and imagination by using fun art materials and tools! We will learn all about patterns, textures and colors while getting a little inspiration from the great artists that came before us. Instructor: Elena Espinoza C02 Creative Clay (Ages 6-8yr) - Fee $150 Clay sculpture and pots will be made using handbuilding techniques. Surface decoration, texture and alternatives to glazing will be included in this special clay program. Instructor: Heather Kuzyk C07 Snap, Crackle, POP ART (Ages 6-8yr) - Fee $145 Explore Pop and Street Art created by artists; Haring, Lichtenstein, Warhol, Jasper Johns as well as more contemporary pop art from artist s like Takashi Murakami. Each week kids will study then recreate their own version of art inspired by one artist; connecting art history to life. Puppeteers will build, paint and manipulate puppets to illustrate characters and stories they create themselves. The course will conclude with an exciting, co-operative puppet theatre presentation. Explore and take inspiration from mythological creatures and characters common to popular culture (Harry Potter, Narnia, Lord of Rings), while furthering drawing techniques, anatomy and creative problem-solving. Instructor: Kevin Willson T01 Handbuilding & Wheel Techniques for Teens (Ages 13+yr) - Fee $250 An introduction to the processes of ceramics. We will produce a slab formed object, such as a vase, jewellery box, platter, etc. and then work on the potter's wheel. Topics include the methods of forming, as well as decoration using coloured slips, carving, sgraffito and finishing the pieces by glazing and firing the works.
