Ok, not so lazy when you have to water twice a day, pick the garden, weed the flower beds and family keeps visiting from out of town because we live in vacation-land. But those are all good things. I just find I have a little less time to finish things up and work on sewing, stitching and quilting projects. I find I don t come in the house until 9pm. As most of my friends are in the same boat we tend to limit classes during the summer months. We are still working on finishing up our block-of-the-month classes we started in the spring and preparing to get everything off of our plate in time for the Fall Block of the Month/Class Open House!! That is always a good time to start two or three new projects! If you think you can limit your self to so few. I know I can t!! But what about you quilters that want to start new projects? Or want to stay inside, out of the heat to sew? Or just want to learn something new? No worries. We have GREAT things planned for you!! Techniques, tips, projects, and more! We are going to bring our sewing machines and sergers to the shop and take the opportunity to demo the project we are working on! You can come in for a demo on Chenille, collage quilting, Pixel quilting, sewing with sergers, hand embroidery and MANY, MANY MORE!! We will have a new demo every week! Check out the demo calendar to find the ones you are interested in. When you come in for the demo you will receive a free pattern, a coupon, and of course the demo. You can even sign up to come in and sew with us for just $10 (space limited to 5). So check out the interesting projects listed on page 6. We have lots planned for you during our Demo Days of Summer!!! $5 Quilt Classes Continue through the summer! Brianna is making her way through the Dessert Sampler Saturday class and the Friendship Sampler Thursday class. Check the calendar for dates and times. If you find you are on vacation for one of the classes, just drop off your finished block and card and Carolyn will check you in on class day so you are not penalized!! She will be your quilting buddy! These are fantastic quilts! A great opportunity to learn new techniques in the Thursday class, and finish a fantastic Jen Kingwell in the Saturday class. Stay caught up so you don t have to pay $5!!

Stitchers Garden: Monthly lessons! This darling quilt can be made entirely from stash fabric (or treat yourself to a kit).

2 Stitchers Garden: Monthly lessons! This darling quilt can be made entirely from stash fabric (or treat yourself to a kit). It is an opportunity to utilize your sewing machine and all those stitches and feet! You end up with a beautiful 61" x 83" quilt and some amazing information you will be sorry you didn't know before!! A few of the techniques used include: Pintucking, Twin and Wing Needles, Bobbinwork, Twisted Floss, Tailor Tack, Couching, Circular Attachments, Ruffler, Open Toe Appliqué and the Binder foot. For this class, you will bring your sewing machine and we will construct a block in class as we trouble shoot the unique stitches and the individual machine settings. Then you take a pattern home to make a second block using the same technique. Classes are once a month. Class is $16/month and includes all patterns, handouts and instruction. Every 4th class is free!! These are all byannie patterns, all very well constructed with excellent classroom assistance to teach you the basics (and beyond) of bag construction. You ll learn about zippers, bindings, linings, mesh and more. The patterns and the completed bags are at the shop, stop in to get more information and see which classes are most appealing for your organizational, travel and gift giving needs! Each bag class is offered twice a month. On the second Tuesday from 1-3pm or the second Saturday from 11-1pm. Class is just $10. Pattern and machine is required. Space is limited to 8 participants/class. We suggest you come with your pieces cut out (and prequilted if indicated) to fully participate and finish your project. Fun class!! Great tips!!

Her mini quick curved ruler came out last year, and this BOM is the featured quilt for the mini. It is SOOOO CUTE!!! The picture really does not do it justice. There are 12 blocks and the quilt can be constructed 3 different ways. For this BOM we meet once a month, on the first Wednesday evening of the month. We started in April and will continue until March. Class consists of a demonstration of block construction, with no need for sewing machines. Class also includes bingo, and door prizes each month. If you did not get an opportunity to sign up for this class (now full) talk to us about a guest pass if you want to come for a demo to give you the inspiration to get started! We do not order discontinued parts on EBay for old machines, but we will install a part if you bring it to us. Please call or see us for specific questions regarding your machine. The Fabric Patch will accept ANY trade in, running or not, for $100 trade in value on any machine. It s what s on the INSIDE that counts. Two things to keep in mind when it comes to your sewing machine: machine quality and routine machine maintenance. Your sewing machine is one of the most essential tools you will use for quilt making and clothing construction, and it should be dependable. Start by purchasing a machine with an all metal interior and an accountable warranty. The department store models that are sold for $100 - $150 are not meant to last. Even when you buy the optional warranty, it is generally for just a year. They will last for an estimated 120 hours of sewing, and it s possible the balling up of fabric and thread will make that time unbearable. They have a plastic interior and the parts are not replaceable. Read the customer reviews and don t waste your money on a machine you will have to quickly replace. Pfaff has an entry level machine with 70 stitches, 6 feet, two LED lights, a hard carrying case, all metal interior and a 10 year warranty for only $699. We offer a dealer rebate for $100 making it just $599. Second thing: maintenance. When you purchase a Pfaff from us, your first year s service cleaning is on us; if it is an embroidery machine, we clean and service it for free for two years. After that, annual service and cleaning is just $59. All feet, attachments and accessories are 10% off for life. Parts warranty is 20 years. Our two technicians are certified and quick. They will service all brands, makes and models, new and old for just $79 for a basic cleaning/service. This is recommended for all machines, every year. The majority of machines that gum up, jam or stitch poorly are often related to the lint build up in the machine, most of which is unreachable by quilters with brushes and tweezers. The classroom will be set up with patterns, books, inspiration, demo stations and specials highlighting the scheduled technique. One specific day of the week we will host a sew in, when a staff member will be set up in the classroom demonstration the scheduled technique. We welcome participants to join us for the sew in. Come to watch, learn, or bring your machine and sew along!! ins are limited to 5 participants. $10 each for the day. Summer demo projects are on display at the shop. Come every week! The layering and slicing makes a luscious, soft quilt and the whole thing is quilted and finished as you go. You can use a favorite panel for a quick project, make some individual blocks to add to an existing project, or create some cute creatures using chenille patterns. LOTS of design opportunities, just a few tricks involved for loads of fun creating quilts that will be everyone s favorite. Carolyn teaches this class often to a packed room. Gate 17 Retreat/Event Center in Soap Lake Named for the vintage garden gate that greets you, located on Hwy 17, directly across from the East Beach of the Soap Lake Park.

We have a few annual events planned where we have saved the space for ourselves to host our own Fabric Patch retreats.

Each quilter has two 4 tables, a rolling chair and two 4 x 6 design walls in a 2000 square foot work room complete with a commercial kitchen, three bathrooms and a barista bar.

All linens, food, beverages and classes are provided as well as personal project assistance and door prizes. Each event has a theme.

We have a local massage therapist that comes to work out the neck kinks and the local art gallery hosts a wine and cheese open house, and a glass blowing class just for us. The Pow Wow Retreat, the Judy Neimeyer Retreat and Machine Embroidery Retreat have obvious projects and classes planned, but of course you can work on anything you want. Christmas in July Retreat Dead Line Retreat Christmas comes sooner every year. Get a jump on projects and ideas in our focused quilting retreat. We will feature the newest Christmas fabrics for 2018 and the newest trends just brought back from quilt market. We have a Machine Embroidery project, Wool Embroidery, Hand Appliqué and quick piecing technique all planned. Along with games, demos, door prizes and swag bags. This will be our third year we have decided to get together to get all of those Christmas projects done uninterrupted! This hosted retreat features a Quilting Machine available for use, two technique classes, door prizes, swag bags and all food and lodging. But mostly, we are available to help you get those Christmas projects completed! We will press, rip, and cut to keep you focused and on your path to the finish line! Cost: $299 for early registration (until September 1st) then $349. Space still available for December 6, 7, 8 and 9 retreat. Dates are July 12, 13, 14 and 15. Retreat is full. Available Long Arm Quilting Services!!! Cindi, Brianna and Carolyn continue to offer machine quilting and binding services to finish up your quilts. Our prices have only changed once in 20 years. Cindi does ruler work, Brianna is all hand guided, Carolyn does beautiful all over designs and we have just added Crystal s computerized machine quilting to the mix!! She is new to long arming, but has taken off with some clear talent and is looking to add some dedicated customers. She is offering 10% off to the first twelve customers that bring her their quilt tops. When you drop Crystal s free motion Simba (see at the shop) off your quilt top, we take your information, but every quilter will call you personally to go over quilt planning before they begin to ensure you are happy with your quilt. All work is guaranteed, and at the moment we are all caught up from the graduation rush and Crystal Rang only about 3 weeks out. For your sewing convenience and pleasure we have a limited number of Pfaff sewing machines available for rental during classes. If your machine is too heavy or difficult to lug to class, or if you just want to test drive an award winning machine, just reserve one when you register for class. Reservations are on a first come basis (3 per class, no embroidery models). The fee is only $10 per class, we supply the bobbins, you supply the thread. If you end up buying a Pfaff, you can apply 6 months of machine rentals to your already low purchase price. Class Registration Information: To enroll in one of our classes, please come into the shop, call us with your credit card payment, or mail us a list with your payment enclosed. Class fees must be paid at the time of registration. Without payment, you are put on a wait list with no guarantee of a spot. Please register early to avoid the disappointment from a class being too full or cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. There is a supply list for every class and we are happy to go over the list and help you with those needs. We love your children, but please leave them at home as the classroom can be a dangerous place. We must commit to our teachers, so there are no refunds for cancellations less than 7 days prior to the class but you are always welcome to send someone else in your place.
