Mother Nature sure has given us some interesting weather this February. In between freezing rain, blowing snow and cold bitter winds it has been a bit of challenge to keep up with the plowing, sanding and salting of our laneway. Thank you for your understanding if we have had to close early or not open at all due to unsafe conditions. Living in the Country can be beautiful and breath taking for 9 out of the 12 months of the year. The other 3 months we just have to take what Mother Nature sends our way. We ve got a busy Spring and Summer ahead of us. We are participating in the Row by Row 2019 Experience, The July Shop Hop and The Stonehenge Challenge. And we have a few interesting things in the works that will make your visits with us this year memorable. 2 Brentwood Bag Saturday March 2nd Time: 10 a.m. 4:00 p.m. This can be a challenging bag to make, but it's professional look makes it well worth the effort. It features an outside pocket on one or both sides, inside pockets including a zippered pocket, and a zippered closure across the top opening of the bag. Some sewing experience is required for this bag. Metro Waves Sunday March 3rd Class Fee:$18 Learn simple curved cutting techniques using the Quick Curve Ruler by Sew Kind of Wonderful to make this beautiful quilt with lots of movement. This quilt covers simple and forgiving ways to sew curves. Beginner s Quilting Wednesday March 6th, 20th & April 3rd Time: 1:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m. Instructor: Gail Learn the basics of quilting while making a table topper. Gail will teach you piecing, applique, borders, quilting and binding, all by hand. Prepare yourself for an exciting new hobby in the world of quilting! 3 Yard Mystery Quilt Friday March 8th Time: 10:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Class Fee: $32 (includes pattern) You only need to choose 3 fabrics. Join us for a fun day cutting and sewing. Sleigh Bells Monthly Club Saturday March 9th and April 6th Times: 1:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m. Saturday May 11th, June 8th, July 13th, August 10th, September. 14th, & October 5th Times: 1:30 p.m. 2:30 p.m. Class Fee: $30 The first two classes will be hands on with Gail learning applique methods for this queen sized winter fun quilt. The rest will be demo style classes as she assigns new blocks with her tips and tricks for fun and accurate sewing techniques. Norm and Nanette Saturday March 16th Time: 10 a.m. 3:00 p.m. One of Elizabeth Hartman s newest patterns. The gnomes are assembled using conventional piecing. With your choices of fabrics you can personalize each and every gnome. Make one or two or an entire forest full of gnomes. Paradise Winds Sunday March 17th Time: Noon - 4:00 p.m. Kit Fee: $81.95 ( 52 1/2" x 68 1/2" ) If you are new to quilting, this is a simple, yet attractive quilt. Beautiful purple floral fabrics have been selected for you and packaged up in a kit with the pattern book. Perfect spring quilt for a beginner or more experienced sewer.

3 T-Shirt Quilts Friday March 22nd Time:10:: 00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Take that drawer full of T -shirts and create something memorable. Learn how to prepare T-shirts for sewing & how to design a custom quilt that works for you. Mandarin Vest Saturday March 23rd Time: 1:00 p.m. 5:00p.m. A loose fitting vest in two different lengths is a must in your wardrobe. The vest has a mandarin collar and two styles of pockets to choose from. A great introduction to garment making. Jelly Roll Rug Sunday March 24th Time: 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Class Fee:$14 Instructor: Catherine Have you made a jelly roll rug yet? They're great fun! With the pre-cut batting strips, it makes rug making a breeze. Use 2 1/2 precut fabric strips or bust your Stash. Paper Piecing Wednesday March 27th Time: 10:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. Gail will introduce you to the world of paper piecing, a technique that ensures accuracy in detailed designs. We have a selection of beautiful flowers to choose from including poinsettias, daisies, poppies, hollyhocks and more. Baffling Your Quilts Saturday March 30th & April 13th Time: 10:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. Learn how to do a "quilt as you go" method that does not appear to be "quilt as you go". The rows are assembled and quilted one after the other. Jelly rolls are perfect or cut your own 2 1/2" strips from your stash. What does Class Fee mean? Class Fee means your instruction fee. Patterns and fabrics for the projects are not included in this fee except where noted. It is not necessary that your purchase your fabric requirements for a class from The Hobby Horse Quilt Shoppe. But we do appreciate it very much if you do. We do our best to ensure that all the necessary supplies are in The Stable well in advance of the class dates so that you can get organized.

4 Summertime Sampler Saturday March 30th & May 4th Time: 1:30 p.m. - 3 :30 p.m. A cheerful wool quilt will brighten anyone's day! Gail will be teaching you how to applique the wool. Wool does not need to be turned under so the sewing is much quicker than with other methods of applique. Dogs in Sweaters Sunday March 31st Join Joyce for the afternoon sewing with Elizabeth Hartman's method of sewing a square onto a square diagonally to produce the shapes required. Make a pillow or the first block or two of a quilt. Pillowcase Class Friday April 5th Time: 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Class Fee: Free Teacher: Catherine Choose only two fabrics for your pillowcase, bring your sewing machine and Catherine will show you how to make a pillowcase for yourself or for a unique gift. Hand Applique Sunday April 7th Time: 12:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m. More Information to Follow. Watch on Social Media or Blasts Spot on Tablerunner Wednesday April 10th Time: 10:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. Join Heather and learn how to sew beautiful, accurate strip-pieced hexagons using the Spot On template from Phillips Fiber Art. Choose whether to make a long runner, or a single hexagon table topper. Pattern is included free with the template. Suitable for intermediate sewers. Pepperland Saturday April 13th Time: 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Saturday April 27th Time: 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. A good beginner pattern with a modern flavour, Pepperland by Abbey Lane goes together easily. The first day we will spend cutting fabric. The second day, will be for sewing the blocks. Kits are available at $81.95 to purchase or you may choose your own fabric to go with your pattern. The quilt will be 56" x 70". Eleanor Burns Log Cabin Sunday April 14th Eleanor Burns has a no fail book on Log Cabin quilts. Choose what size and what layout you'd like to make - fabric requirements are provided for many sizes. A traditional quilt with straight seams is good for beginners or anyone who would like to try this simple but attractive quilt.

5 Lacy Bloom Table Runner Wednesday April 17th & May 1st Time: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Welcome Spring/Summer with this cheerful, versatile table runner. Three sizes to choose from and it can be made from a variety of fabrics to create your own unique project. Hopefully, with Heather s help, we will all go home with a lovely finished runner. Suitable for beginners. Scalloped PlaceMats Wednesday April 24th Time: 10:00 a.m. 2:00 p.m. Placemats are becoming the project of choice these days. Come and spend time with Heather and learn all the tips and tricks while making scalloped placemats. Kimberbell Summer Bench Pillow Friday April 26 th Fat Quarter Baby Quilt Friday May 3rd Time: 10:00 a.m. Noon and Friday May 17th Time: 10:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. Would you like to make a baby quilt for that special small person in your life? The Fat Quarter Baby Quilt book is packed with great designs, suitable for boys or girls and even older children too. All the designs use similar techniques, so choose which design you want to make and let Heather take you through the basic principles. Cutting will be included in the first class. Sew Kind of Wonderful - Posh Blossom Sunday May 5th Time: Noon - 4:00 p.m. Have you been bitten by the Sew Kind of Wonderful Bug? Take it up a notch after you have learned the basics of curved piecing the Sew Kind of Wonderful way in one of Elaine s previous SKW beginner classes.

Kits, includ- ing the books, are still available. The books have patterns for future projects as well. The focus is traditional piecing. Who wouldn't like a new spring lap quilt? 7 Machine Quilting Saturday May 25th Time: 1:00 p.m. 4:00 p.m. Class Fee: $40 includes kit The class will look at all the variables involved in machine quilting and show you how to control each variable. We'll be looking at needles and threads, your work space and other things that will affect your quilting. How to develop your own quilting patterns and how to stitch a large quilt will be covered in class. Stand N Stow Bag Sunday May 26th This bag is constructed a little differently than most others. It's fabric "paper bag" style bag with stiffener to make it stand up on it's own. Three sizes are provided for options. All skill levels are welcome.
