1 Workshops 2018 All courses cater for beginners unless otherwise stated. Price includes materials, tuition and refreshments. Please bring your own lunch. Date Details Venue Cost Saturday 24 th March 9.30am 4pm Willow Basket in a Day Introductory course Aimed at complete beginners. During the day you will learn the traditional skills necessary to make a small round willow basket for holding fruit, bread etc, Sunday 25 th March 10am 4.30pm Garden Plant Support Workshop During the day you will have the opportunity to learn to make 2 different designs of plant support for your garden. 2 Day Hedgerow Basketry Workshop You will be introduced to the specific nuances of using Hedgerow materials and can expect to make at least 2 items. Monday & Tuesday 26 th /27 th March Prior to the course each participant will be encouraged to collect some hedgerow materials from the garden or the wild. Most materials benefit from 2/3 weeks after cutting before use. An information sheet will be provided on booking so please book early to allow time for this.

During the day you will learn the traditional skills necessary to make a small round willow basket for holding fruit, bread etc 2 Day Willow Basketry Workshop Saturday & Sunday 23 rd /24 th June 9.30am 4pm Make 1 or 2 traditional baskets over the Beginners Small round baskets Intermediates You will each progress from your individual skill level. Learn how to include different weaves, borders and handles into your work. Depending on previous experience an introduction to oval or square work may also be possible. Saturday 30th June & Sunday 1st July Willow Bark Workshop Over the you will explore different methods of stripping willow bark and learn, from a variety of options, how to create your own project from the harvest.

3 Mon./Tues./Wed. 30th/31st July & 1st August Willow Bark Basketry Oxford Summer School Basketry Techniques with soft materials Saturday & Sunday 3 rd /4 th November Focus for this workshop will be on Coiling Sat. Exposed Core Sun. Covered Core Coiling is a very versatile technique, which can be used with numerous man made and natural materials, from fabric to grasses, to create baskets. Over the course of the you will make a small basket incorporating both techniques. Sunday 9 th December Festive Willow Workshop On the day we will make a willow former so you can create your own festive wreath for the table or door. Also there will be the opportunity to make other decorations for your tree or home.

4 Venue Apart from the Oxford Summer School details which can be found by following the links above all courses will be at the. This is located at the nature reserve. It is the wooden barn with 2 chimneys, next to the dry stone walls. It is easily visible from the car park. Free exit car parking tickets will be given out at the end of the course. Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Full payment is required 2 weeks before the course date. If you need to cancel for any reason your deposit will be returned if I can fill your place. If I need to cancel for any reason your deposit will be returned in full.
