6 Intrductin Frewrd This Prgram Outline is fr use in the Instrumentatin and Cntrl Technician (Industrial Instrument Mechanic) apprenticeship training classes as spnsred by the Industry Training Authrity and will be used as a guide fr instructrs in the frmal classrm prtins f apprenticeship training. The 2013 NOA and Alberta curriculum fr this trade were examined by prvincial Subject Matter Experts in the prcess f creating the BC 2015 Prgram Outline. Practical demnstratin and student participatin shuld always be integrated with classrm sessins. Safe wrking practices, thugh nt always specified in each f the cmpetencies and learning tasks, are an implied part f the prgram and shuld be stressed thrughut the apprenticeship. The technical training times calculated by the Industry Subject Matter Experts are based n six hurs f instructinal time ( student cntact time ) per day. This Prgram Outline includes a list f recmmended reference textbks that are available t supprt the learning bjectives and the minimum shp requirements needed t supprt instructin. Appendix C f this dcument cntains a sample lab assessment tl which is intended t assist new instructrs in creating lab assessment instruments. Schl-based training fr this trade des NOT include practical safety certificatin (rigging, fall prtectin, cnfined space entry, etc.). Apprentices will examine the purpse and intent f wrk safety dcuments and regulatins, and knw hw t find this infrmatin. It is the respnsibility f emplyers t train apprentices in n-the-jb safety practices and prcedures (as per BC Occupatinal Health and Safety Regulatins and Emplyers Cmpany Safety Plicies). SAFETY ADVISORY Be advised that references t the WrkSafeBC safety regulatins cntained within these materials d nt/may nt reflect the mst recent Occupatinal Health and Safety Regulatin (the current Standards and Regulatin in BC can be btained n the fllwing website: Please nte that it is always the respnsibility f any persn using these materials t infrm him/herself abut the Occupatinal Health and Safety Regulatin pertaining t his/her wrk.
