Visitors: Vince Swift (Speaker), Sveta Oliver. President Malcolm Baldwin opened the meeting by welcoming members and visitors. He then spoke on the following subjects: President and Vice President will be attending a Welcome to New Residents evening at Beaudesert Library on 26 th November with the aim of informing newcomers to the existence of our club. Thanks to Brent for organising the successful Hunt and Shoot Car Rally. On Saturday 21 st November there will be an outing to Wyaralong Dam for the purpose of a Macro Workshop but if any members require some assistance with another subject, please ask and we will try to accommodate you. The Caboolture Camera Club is organising a joint weekend outing next June/July and want to know how many members would require cabin accommodation if they were to attend the outing. Answer 10 to 12. The committee is about to set the critique subjects for next year. If anyone has ideas for this please let us know. 1

2 The club has received grant money totalling $1500 towards the purchase of a new projector and laptop computer. The laptop replacement has been put on hold but a new projector has been ordered with the club to make up the shortfall of approximately $500. The old projector is for sale for $499 ono. Contact Secretary, Cliff Pottinger, to make an offer. The Beaudesert Times Newspaper has contacted us offering to provide a Beaudesert Camera Club Photo Gallery on their website. Images may be posted on this site unless a member specifically requests that their images not be published. Several members have made this request already. The end of year awards and break-up lunch will be held on Sunday 6 th December at Beaudesert RSL. Cost is $20 per head. A flyer will be sent to all members. Malcolm then introduced our guest speaker for the night, Vince Swift. Vince represents the Polygon Group of which CameraCorp is subsidiary. Vince gave a presentation highlighting the advantages of leasing camera equipment from CameraCorp. Vince then presented some inspiring images of his work as a photographer. Brent Randall then advised us that the club has been invited to take part in the Open Studios event at the Centre in Beaudesert next May. The cost to the club of participating in this event would be $220 which is for a one-page presentation in the Open Studios booklet. Vince Swift advised us that his company may very well like to sponsor our club for this event. More to follow. Supper was provided by Shirley Baldwin thank you Shirley. A slideshow of images taken at recent events was shown. All attendees at the recent Car Rally had been entered in a raffle which was now drawn. Winner Megan Kenny Meeting closed at 9.00pm. Next Meeting Tuesday, 24 th November 2015 Guest Speaker - Vince Swift Vince Swift represents the Polygon Group of which CameraCorp is a subsidiary. This is basically a rental group, in which people can rent/lease Musical Instruments; Audio Equipment; and of course Camera Equipment. They also have area of Teaching DSLR in schools etc. The main advantages of renting a Lens or Camera Body is that you can at least try it out before you buy it, or as new technology changes so quickly, once the new model is out you can then upgrade your current model for the newest and greatest with no cash outlay or thinking about what to do with all those old camera bodies now sitting in our cupboards no longer being used. There is a min of 6 months' rent for anything under $5000 value and min of 12 months for items over $5000. Any Preloved items can be rented for a min of 3 months. You can also rent to buy the item. Renting also comes in very handy if you are travelling overseas and want to have that wonderful lens to take the photos of the big cats; wild animals or any of the seven wonders of the world - you do not have to go and purchase the lens, just rent it and then give it back at the end of the time - can save you thousands in $'s if you work it correctly. Vince then also showed us some of his own photography of which he has taken some great shots over the years. 2

3 Beaudesert Times Photo Gallery Our Photos our Up on the Beaudesert Times Photo Gallery. All photos will have the copyright of Exposure Unlimited Beaudesert Camera Club Inc, as a watermark on them and are of low resolution. This is great way for the club to get exposure within the local area and hopefully bring in some new members. Visit the site and see for yourself. Metropolitan Audio Visual Interclub Competition At the delegates meeting after the last successful Metropolitan Audio Visual Interclub Competition, hosted by Noosa Photographic Society, it was decided to run this competition bi-annually. Aspley Camera Club has volunteered to host the Audio Visual Interclub Competition in mid More details will be forwarded to clubs when the date and location is finalised. However a short outline of basic rules of the competition is below. Entrants may submit DIGITAL sequences into any of the following sections: MINI 10 OPEN GROUP (Designed for those new to Audio Visual) Open to all participants) (2 or more collaborating authors) MINI 10 sequences are restricted to 10 images, plus any titles or end credits. This allows new authors to try their hand at creating a short AV usually with a simple or minimal soundtrack. All entries will be on an individual basis and do not be required to be collated by a club representative. Each individual may only enter a maximum of 2 AV sequences, (irrespective of how many clubs they may be a member). Entries will be accepted via a link to a Competition dropbox, Entries on a DVD will not be accepted. Entries must be stand-alone digital productions compiled from software such as PicturesToExe, Proshow or similar. It must be able to run from a Windows computer. Shows should be set to show full-screen. Any entry that requires additional software to be installed will not be accepted. The absolute limit of any sequence is 12 minutes, but remember that short and sweet will always beat long and boring. 12 minutes has been allowed as an upper limit so as not to stifle creativity, but you should aim for less than 5 minutes for best success. Images are to be the work of the author or the source acknowledged in the sequence. In accordance with copyright law, all audiovisual sequences must be free of all rights of ownership that may be held by others, whether artistic or otherwise. Authors should enter in the knowledge that their sequence may be made available after the official screening to participating clubs for the sole purpose of viewing at club meetings. The organisers wish to encourage club members to participate in Audio Visual competitions. Please remind your members that this competition will be run next year so they can get prepared.
