We are coming to the end of an enjoyable and productive year and are looking forward to an even better 2018! Quilting at The Lake will be our first event, a 5 day happening from January 3 rd through 8 th, with a wide variety of classes, vendors, demos and all manner of things I am so looking forward to! I have spent the last couple of weeks (and a couple more to come) finishing up my gift projects for Christmas one of which is a king sized quilt! Whew! It has been great fun and a real learning experience serving as your President and I am looking forward to the balance of the year and the great fun we all have together! QUILT SHOW BOUTIQUE Marcia Davis Quilt Show 2017 Boutique Update Thank you to each and every person who helped to make the 2017 Boutique the BEST ever!! To each person who made and donated an item thank you for making our inventory over 1,100 items. To each person who volunteered to set up, work or tear down the Boutique thank you so much. You made our Boutique look awesome and all your time and effort was so appreciated. I had so many compliments about the quality, the updated colors, the great prices and the variety of items that we had for sale. I was proud to be a Havasu Stitcher. YOU all made that Boutique great and I am proud to announce that we made $6,330. This money will go for Education in the Havasu Stitchers, and Susan Sacco is setting up lots of teachers for $5 classes. 8 ROUTE TO THE RIVER HI Everyone, Thank you all for volunteering for the 2018 AQG spring mee ng tled "Route To The River in Havasu. We have an amazing team of volunteers & are going to have a great me preparing for this upcoming event. Sherri Ashford has offered the classroom at her shop, Copper Canyon Quil ng, for our monthly planning sessions on the first Monday of each 9:30am with the excep on of January 2018, which will be on the second Monday (first Monday of January is New Year s Day). Mee ng Minutes Havasu Stitchers General Meeting Minutes November 9, 2017 Motion to approve minutes of October 12, 2017 general meeting by Dotty King; second by Gail Bengston; motion carried. First Vice President (Education): Susan Sacco reported on the upcoming classes: Shirley Johnson is teaching 101 Free Motion Quilting on January 12, 19 and 26, 2018 at Havasu Quilts; Dottie Holman is teaching Paper Piecing (Cactus Cluster) on January 23, 2018 at Fabrics Unlimited; Phyllis Barton is teaching English paper piecing on February 6, 2018 at Fabrics Unlimited; Ann Creek is teaching the TaDa Applique on February 19, 2018 at Fabrics Unlimited; and Helga Brown is teaching Spider Web on March 15, 2018 at Havasu Quilts. If you are interested in teaching a class, please let Susan Sacco know. Second Vice President (Membership): Mindy Hoium stated that we had 94 members and guests present. She also has the new membership rosters. Treasurer s Report: Absent; no report. President Victoria Frances read thank you cards from Valley Scott, Audrey King and Calvary Baptist Church. Barbara Masden also thanked the membership for the charter member tile. Community Outreach: Linda Higuera reported that the committee will next meet on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Fabrics Unlimited. Quilt Show: Quilt Show Coordinator Susan Black gave the preliminary numbers for the 2017 Americana Quilt Show: Income - $21,477.72; expenses, 4,500; total income approximately $15,000. Hearts Desire brought in $1,000; Opportunity Quilt brought in $3,737; Preview Party brought in $1,500. The Boutique (which had over 1,100 items donated, priced and sold) brought in $6, Quilt Show: Kevin Cabbage will chair the event; Lisa Mousel will co-chair. Christmas Party Loretta Frilot reported that the cut-off to purchase tickets for the December 7, 2017 Christmas Party is November 25, Member of the Year: Sherri Ashford introduced the nominees for the 2017 Member of the Year: Susan Black; Kevin Cabbage; Marcia Davis; Cathy Geer; Linda Higuera; Audry King; Judy Pedersen; Nancy Petersen; Phyllis Barton and distributed the ballots for voting. The winner will be announced at the Christmas Dinner. Quilting at the Lake: Linda Visnaw reported on the 2018 Quilting at the Lake, including 18 individual reservations that were received at the Quilt Show. Tickets for the Trunk Show are available at this meeting at a cost of $3. If you turn in your old neck wallet, you will receive $5 in raffle tickets for the QAL event. If you ask a friend to take a class (and the friend so notes on his/her registration), you will receive $10 in raffle tickets. A local vendor event will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 12 to 5:30 p.m. Break Ways & Means: The 50/50 winners with $45 each were Brenda Stanway and Lisa Mousel. Two tickets for the Lake Havasu Community Choir s Annual Christmas Concert (donated by Eileen Johnson) were also awarded. Eileen Johnson presented a demonstration on Miss Rosie s Quilt Co. Mix Recipe cards. The Show and Tell presentation included the Quilt Show ribbon winners. Motion to Adjourn made by Tess Armstrong; second by Lisa Mousel. Meeting adjourned at 7:50 pm. 13 Celebrating 25 years with our Charter Members Joan Davignon I came to Havasu in 1991 from Acushnet, Mass, near Cape Cod out in the country. I started quilting in Took my first class out in an old farm house and the very next year came to Lake Havasu. I am old school, love the traditional hand quilting. I enjoy Hand Embroidery, knitting, and chrochet. I started with my mom when I was 12 years old. Out in the country they would come out in a truck with the flour in sacks, I would crawl in and pick out the ones I wanted, they would become my clothes! I made all my girls clothes. I got my first machine when I got married in I became a Stitcher with Georgeann and the rest I did what was needed and we had a good time. No one knew what they were doing but we learned from each other. I am 84 years young and married 64 years. Enjoying life and continue to quilt I have one daughter and one granddaughter. 13

14 Celebrating 25 years with our Charter Members Barbara Masden I came to Havasu in 1971 from Muskegon, Michigan. I started quilting in 1992 at the very first Stitcher meeting. I didn t know a thing. I saw an ad in the paper about the club. I went, joined and have been quilting ever since. When I went I was very curious and had so see what it was all about. I didn t know a sole there. Traditional piecing is my favorite, I ve tried the modern quilting, not my thing. I knitted for a while. I was a stewardess for TWA from and knitted a lot of socks, and a coat on those trips. When we were full on that plane there were 30 passengers, mostly men that was a big deal! The first year in Havasu Stitchers was a big deal. It was exciting, fabric, fabric, books magazines, it was all so interesting and so fun. I taught myself how to quilt from those books and magazines. Learning to quilt took up a couple years, then in one year I was President, Quilt Show Chair and coordinated the Havasu Parade (just after 9/11) and took most decorated car, trophy and all that trophy was in Jeanette s shop Sew What for quite some time. As Quilt Show Chair, I got the committee members and let them do their thing, it was a great show. Now I am enjoying life, still quilting with my friendship group. I am 81 years young, with 4 children, 4 grandchildren and am blessed to have them all here in Havasu! My oldest daughter quilts and I was given a signature quilt from the family at my 70 th birthday that she coordinated and made. 14
