It has been a great experience being President this past year and I learned a great deal, discovered a lot of wonderful friends and had a good me. I d like to thank all the members of the new Board and thank them in advance for their service. We have elected a powerhouse of talent and experience and I am looking forward to all the spectacular things they and we will do in the future. 4 QUILT DOCUMENTATION LINDA VISNAW Quilt documenta on will be on the 3rd MONDAY of each month beginning at 1 PM at Copper Canyon Quilt shop. Please call and reserve your date and pick up your required paperwork at the quilt shop beforehand, It is an- cipated that the commi ee will be able to document about 4 quilts per month. Thank you to Copper Canyon Quilts for their ongoing help. May 21st June 18th In April the Quilt Documenta on Team were able to complete six wonderful quilts and add them to the AZ and na onal databases. There is room May 21, from 12 to 3, for your quilt. REMINDER It has recently come to our a en on that some members may hold a Gi Cer ficate for $5 OFF A HAVASU STITCHERS SPONSORED CLASS signed by Sherri Ashford & Catherine. These Gi Cer ficates were created & distributed many years ago for a limited period of me & should have indicated an expira on date but did not. Please note that these Gi Cer ficates will no longer be accepted for any Havasu S tchers sponsored class a er April 15, Sunshine Joan Wurster Please let the Sunshine Chairman know if you would like to have a card sent to one of our members. HEAR YE, HEAR YE Charley Odegaard of Odegaard s Sewing Center in Flagstaff, Arizona will be our guest speaker at the Havasu S tchers Guild mee ng on Thursday, May 10, 2018 and will be offering to take your sewing machine back with him for service when he returns to Flagstaff. If you re interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, please bring your machine with you and speak with Charley prior to the mee ng at 6:30pm. There will not be me during the mee ng to make any arrangements. This will be my last Newsle er as Mar Layne will be taking over this posi on. She will be changing the format as we are transi oning to Mail Chimp which will save the guild money. 8 Mee ng Minutes April 12, Quality Inn The mee ng was called to order by President Victoria Frances at 6:30 p.m. Mo on to approve the March 8, 2018 minutes made by Kathy Lischefske; second by Carolyn Frost; mo on carried. President Victoria Frances turned the mee ng over to Phyllis Barton for the elec on of officers for the term: President Cathy Geer First VP-Educa on Mindy Hoium Second VP-Membership Karen Bock and Barbara Smith Treasurer Deanna Pepe Secretary Sherri Ashford and Mary Beth Peters Mo on to cast a unanimous ballot for the slate of officers as presented made by Diane Peterson; second by Gail Bengston; mo on carried. Mary Beth Peters then announced the following open posi ons/changes and asked for volunteers: Community Outreach Mona Bolen (Chair) and Linda Higuera Newsle er Mar Layne Library Victoria Frances Historian Open Na onal Quil ng Day Open Publicity Open Winners of the 50/50 prizes were Zola Stuart, Dee Nolan and Beverly Columbus. Second VP-Membership Mindy Hoium reported that there were 76 members and 3 guests present this evening. She then discussed the process of how to renew membership in AQG on line and offered to show members how to do it. President Victoria Frances read a thank you note from Calvary Church thanking the Havasu Stitchers for the quilts and pillowcases donated to the Heart-to-Heart ministry. Treasurer reported a cash available for use figure of $15,113 and also reported on the Route to the River AQG Spring Mee ng hosted by Havasu S tchers on April 14. Show and Tell presenta on was enjoyed by all present. Mo on to adjourn made by Michele Kiel; second by Adeline Reiten. Mee ng adjourned at 7:05 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Deanna A. I will con nue to collect for those who are s ll willing to make quilts. Most of the children have received quilts and we will be needing quilts for the children who arrive at the village in the future. 13
