I hpe that yu all had a wnderful hliday seasn with yur family and friends. I was frtunate enugh t have a cuple f weeks ff and enjyed the dwn time frm wrk! Althugh I did nt get much sewing dne, the time with family and friends was a blessing. As the New Year starts, I like t g thrugh my sewing rm and review my list f unfinished quilt prjects (UFOs) and priritize what I am ging t wrk n fr the year. Dn t get me wrng, I start new prjects and take classes, which is why my

Can yu relate? If yu answered is yes, then jin me in finishing thse UFOs frm yur wn list this year! It gives me great pleasure t serve the guild as yur President and I am excited t be wrking with sme fantastic ladies n the bard and cmmittees. We have sme fun activities and prgrams in stre fr 2019 which we will share at the January meeting. Our initial 19 pririty is the Quilt Shw which is nly a mnth away. We need all hands n deck t ensure that the shw is as successful as pssible. If yu have nt already dne s, I encurage yu t g t the Shw site and sign up t vlunteer r ask the PQ members n the Quilt shw cmmittee what yu can d t help. I lk frward t ur Retreat in April as well! The retreat is a great time t let yur hair dwn with yur quilting sisters, wrk n thse UFOs and build lasting memries. It des nt matter the place as lng as we are sewing, laughing and spending time tgether. Jin us if yu can, I prmise yu will nt regret it. Finally, ur guild purpse is t prmte cperatin and the exchange f ideas amng quilters; t encurage high standards f design and techniques; t prvide educatinal pprtunities t the membership; t stimulate interest and charity utreach within the cmmunity. While that is a muthful t be sure, it takes all f us t make it happen. Be part f ur cntinued success by actively participating in ur activities, prgrams and cmmittees. Tgether we can achieve mre, make it yur gal t meet smene new t yu in the guild, learn a new skill r share yur quilting talents and knwledge with us. I thank yu fr all yur dnatins f time, materials and yur lve and skill t make things fr cmmunity utreach. Last year we made t my best cunting f ntes...63 baby quilts, 83 bears, 18 hearts, 22 hats, and 79 pet beds. S this year...i am planning t cntinue with several f the charities: MORTON PLANT HOSPITAL (nging - all year lng) They are in need f tummy time quilts in sizes 32 inch square t 36 inch square fr the babies. They need teddy bears which are stuffed and given t children wh cme int the ER. The bears gives them cmfrt and they get t take them hme. There is a specific pattern n ur PQ webpage that the hspital likes fr us t use.

3 3 (Cnt d, Cmmunity Outreach) If we have knitters r crcheters ut there, the babies can always use hats. Pattern and yarn that they prefer is n the website. Ladies receiving chem can use hats and scarves t keep them warm during treatment. The pattern is n the website. They can als use lap rbes either, quilted, knitted, r crcheted. Darlene the head vlunteer in their sewing rm near the hspital can als use yur help. If anyne has the time and wuld like t sew with her, yu may phne her and set up the day and time ( ). I believe Tuesday is the best day fr her but yu can call and discuss this. These charities are nes we have wrked with peridically during the year: CLOTHES TO KIDS This is a lng established charity that cllects kid s schl apprpriate clthing. They are always in need f NEW IN PACKAGE underwear and scks fr bys r girls age 4 t 18. Last year we did a dnatin as schl was starting t help replenish their supplies. They d a drive in the summer befre schl starts fr scks/underwear that they call Drp Yur Drawers. HEAVEN ON EARTH FOR VETERANS This grup prvides lw cst husing t veterans in need. We have in the past dnated the prceeds f ur pprtunity quilt t this grup and als half f the 50/50 drawing. PACE SENIOR CENTER This is a day center that has activities t keep the ladies busy during the days t keep them in their wn hmes rather than nursing hmes. They like t make jewelry, sew, d any kind f arts and crafts. They als like t clr and paint, play games such as checkers and dmines etc. If yu have any supplies that are in gd cnditin and wuld be smething a senir wuld be able t enjy I can dnate thse items. I knw this is a lt f infrmatin but I knw sme new members are nt aware f what we are ding behind the scenes. Under the Mrtn Plant heading click n Newbrn Crchet Baby Hat Pattern which will shw yu all the patterns that Mrtn Plant prvided fr me that they like t have the vlunteers use as well as the teddy bear template t trace. The website is utdated at the time and will need t be updated but the inf is there but nt easy t find right nw. Srry. If yu have supplies that yu think the Pace Senir Center can use please bring them, if it is smething I think they cannt use, yu can place these items n ur Freebie Table. The nly rule fr this is, if yur supplies are nt taken YOU MUST TAKE IT BACK HOME WITH YOU. We have n place t stre items. Yu will be given a receipt fr each quilt yu enter and yu must have the receipt(s) fr pickup. Turn-in: Thursday, Feb 14, 9:30-10:30 AM in the Ht Kitchen Pickup: Saturday, Feb 16, 4:00 5:00 PM. (Pickup lcatin: Shw Hall stage. Please have yur receipts with yu and line up n the right side at the bttm f the stairs.) Vlunteer sign up: Set up/take dwn des nt cunt as vlunteer hurs fr the quilt shw. Staffing fr the sale f pprtunity quilt tickets is the respnsibility f each guild and hurs d nt cunt tward wrking at the shw. Each member is expected t vlunteer 4 hurs ttal. Please be prepared t sign up at the January meeting t bring a basket fr the shw. These baskets can be any theme. Paula and Denise will put tgether a grup basket frm dnated items frm the grup. I have them. Yu have them. Every quilter has them. They make up a ghstly presence that haunts ur sewing rms. The first essential in finishing yur UFOs is feeling a genuine urgency t get them dne. Be hnest with yurself abut this. Maybe designing, piecing, r appliqué are the things yu really lve abut quilting. Maybe, deep dwn inside, the basting, quilting, and binding dn t interest yu all that much. If that s the case, it might make mre sense t find smene else wh really lves finishing quilts t cmplete yur UFOs. Yu culd ffer t swap tasks with anther quilter wh desn t like piecing, r pick up sme extra cash by selling yur tps n Ebay t smene wh will enjy finishing them, r dnate them t a charity grup that will make sure they get t peple wh need them.
