November is our season for giving thanks. I am so grateful for each of you. I m thankful that I have had the opportunity to be in this amazing group of women. It truly is a special group of talented people that we have. I appreciate the sharing of talent and support that we have in our guild and the many friendships that I have been so fortunate to develop over the years. Are you ready for another great speaker?? We have Linda Hahn presenting this month. I am personally looking forward to her paper piecing class the following Saturday. We have 4 spots open if you know anyone that would be interested. Have them contact Penny Black asap. The supply list is out already. If you did not receive it, let either Penny or myself know and we can forward it to you. For our November meeting, I had one sign up for a treat. If anyone would like to bring water, ice, something else to drink (lemonade?) or a snack, please let me know. It makes for a nice treat in the evening.

Remember we are having a PJ party! Wear your PJs and let s have some fun. I will be bringing a signup sheet to the November meeting so you can sign up to bring your dish and give me a headcount for the table set ups. Our 3 Yard Challenge Quilts will also be revealed at the December party. If you are not able to come to the November meeting and sign up, please contact me or have a friend sign you up! We want to make it special for you so the head count is important. We are also having a sock exchange this year as our gift. Be on the lookout for some fun or funny socks for the exchange. They will need to be wrapped for the exchange part of the evening. Lastly, remember that our party is on the 2 nd Thursday, December 13 th at 6:30. We start early to allow time for our dinner and activities. Have a great November! Gratefully yours, Lori Lewis, President Community Outreach (Gale Pittman, Chair) Hello Ladies, I really enjoyed seeing the quilts at the last meeting and particularly Judy L showing her quick and easy way to finish the baby quilts for the hospital. If you are like me, sometimes...well... often actually...i make things harder than they need to be. Her quilts are just as cute as they can be. It makes me jealous that she can keep churning through her stash and not get sidetracked and feel the need to go to the quilt shop again. I know that we have Christmas projects to finish and quilt show projects to finish but when we can catch our breath I plan to make more of the baby quilts and plan to practice my machine quilting on them. I am learning how to use rulers with my domestic machine and that is the perfect size to work with. I am posting the very nice thank you from Clothes To Kids for our donation of socks and underwear. They are always in need so if you see any sales going on and can pick up some extra little something I will be happy to take them. I feel it is a charity that meets such a need for our community. I was impressed with how organized they are. We will continue to work for the community with the projects we have in place with the hospital and kids. 4 4 Programs (Penny Black) November Program (Thursday, 11/15/18) Linda Hahn, a national teacher coming to present NY Beauty State of Mind. In this entertaining presentation, Linda discusses the inspiration behind the AQS Bestseller New York Beauty Simplified, the experience with the book writing and publishing process, as well as the stories behind each of the quilts and their makers in the book. Linda brings all or most of the quilts from the book. Linda will be teaching her class Fire Island Beauty where we will learn her 1 pin method for creating perfect New York Beauty blocks on Saturday 9 am). Just a reminder to all taking her class, please bring $28 in cash the day of the class to pay Linda for your kit. The supply list was sent out last week. Make sure you clean your machine and change the needle. Bring all the parts...don't forget the foot pedal and power cord. Bring lunch and a snack to share.
