Patchwork Press PA G E 2 Patriotic Quilt Block English Paper Piecing Block PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Hi Everyone, Happy Memorial Day! We have had a nice weekend working at home around the yard.

I have been working on my English Paper Piecing Circles, they are a little harder than the hexagons. You have to be a little more picky on the corners to get them just right.

It was a good thing to have since I was by myself for most of the day, while she rode the rides with friends.

Come on June 6th and see what is new with Natalia Bonner. We will also hand in our English Paper Piecing Circles. Two Owl bucks for each circle!

A l s o r e m e m b e r t o s t a r t working on your Design Challenge project. You must use the half square triangles that we exchanged at guild 2 months ago or last month.

2 Patchwork Press PA G E 2 Patriotic Quilt Block English Paper Piecing Block PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Hi Everyone, Happy Memorial Day! We have had a nice weekend working at home around the yard. I spent the day getting my garden in. My Son Spencer graduates this week, and we have family coming in tomorrow, so I thought I d better get this letter started. I have been working on my English Paper Piecing Circles, they are a little harder than the hexagons. You have to be a little more picky on the corners to get them just right. It is fun to have some hand work to take along with me places. I went to Lagoon with my daughter Carly for a dance competition and took it with me. It was a good thing to have since I was by myself for most of the day, while she rode the rides with friends. I found a shady, quiet spot with a table and sat for a while listening to the peacocks making noise. This month we are seeing WHO is famous again from our Quilt Guild. Come on June 6th and see what is new with Natalia Bonner. We will also hand in our English Paper Piecing Circles. Two Owl bucks for each circle! Next month we will be doing a sailboat block measuring 9, use any method you want, it should have water at the bottom with a boat and sky. 3 Patchwork Press PAGE3 A Quilt by Natalia Natalia Bonner THIS MONTH Our Meeting this Month At our meeting this month, Natalia Bonner of our own quilt guild is coming to visit us. Here is some info about her from her blog. Natalia Whiting Bonner has enjoyed piecing quilt tops for more than twenty years. She learned how to quilt on her conventional home machine. She felt good about it, but decided that if she really wanted to take her quilting to the next level, she needed to invest in a longarm machine. In 2007, when she was pregnant with her daughter, she got the crazy idea to quit her job as a dental assistant and become a longarm quilter. Without really knowing what a longarm machine was, she spent a day at a longarm dealer s shop and walked out after purchasing a Gammill machine. Natalia s passion for quilting and being creative has grown each day since. Shortly after her purchase, Natalia began blogging at piecenquilt.blogspot.com, and blogging became her connection with other quilters and fellow work-at-home moms. By 2009, her quilting business had grown, and it was time to leave the tiny, poorly lit bedroom where she had been doing all her quilting. Natalia moved into a studio at her parents home, and with the inspiration of her mother, Kathleen Whiting, she has realized that the sky is the limit. Whether it s working on an intense show quilt or a simple baby quilt, Natalia has become a real quilting addict. She has won numerous awards for her work and has been featured on Moda Bake Shop, in Quiltmaker Magazine and American Patchwork & Quilting Magazine, and in books such as Fresh Fabric Treats, Modern Blocks and Sweet Celebrations with the Moda Bake Shop Chefs, Modern Quilts From the Blogging Universe and her first book, Beginner's Guide to Free- Motion Quilting and Modern One-Block Quilts.

This should be a great class and the cost is only $99.00 for a three day class. Again, this is for the Utah Quilt Guild members. Flyers will be available at guild meetings or contact Barb Murdock CHARITY QUILTS FOR POLICE OFFICERS We do hope that everyone is working on a charity quilt for the police officers in our area. They need to be turned in by the first of August so that we can deliver them to the different police agencies. UTAH VALLEY JULY QUILT FAIR is Wednesday, July 17 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at the Springville Art Museum. A fun day with lots of activities, classes and vendors! Free to all. This will be the first day that the Springville Quilt show opens too. SPRINGVILLE QUILT SHOW The Springville Quilt Show is open to the public July 17 to September 4. SHOP HOP BUS Shop Hop Tour: If you are a state guild member, remember the shop hop tour bus event on Saturday, June 15. The cost is only $10.00, lots cheaper than it would cost you for gas, and lots more fun than going alone!! Check the Beeline to sign up. QUILT FESTIVAL October 8-12 at the Zermatt Resort. Barb Murdock has brochures if you need one. Registration begins June 1 at 6 pm. If there is a special class you would like to take, sign up early before the class fills.
