1 Original Recipe Have yu ever fund a fabric line that made yu squeal right there in the middle f the fabric shp? Have yu ever fund ne that made yu giggle with glee and rush t share it with yur best quilty friends? Winter Wnderland by Bunny Hill fr Mda did that t me! I am beynd thrilled t be able t share my quilt made frm it with all f yu! I lve, lve, lve the snwmen and the trucks. What culd be better than snwmen driving pick up trucks...perhaps a snugly quilt t make yu laugh and keep yu warm?!

2 detail f Winter Wnderland panel Peaks & Paddcks is a simple quilt made frm ne, funky blck. I think I was thinking Snwball. I ended up with a center-less Sh-fly. Either way, the blck screams, "Yu gt it wrng!" I wanted t find ut what wuld happen if yu made a bunch f blcks, all with the same irritating mistake in them, mre n that later.

4 The blck is based n the classic Sh-fly design with tw exceptins. 1. There is nt cntrasting center t my blck. 2. One f the crners is WRONG! If yu lked at the picture abve and thught, Oh, Cindy drew this ne wrng. Yu are abslutely right; hwever, I did it n purpse. Over the last 11 mnths I have been explring what happens when yu make a bunch f blcks wrng n purpse. The results might surprise yu. They did me. Yu can check them ut under the Ops tab f my blck f the mnth blg, Quilty Friends. HSTS Gather 24, 5" x 5" squares red n white fabric fr traditinal crners 24, 5" x 5" squares white n red fabric fr traditinal crners 8, 5" x 5" squares red n red fabric fr WRONG crners 8, 5" x 5" squares white n white fabric fr WRONG crners On the wrng side f all squares with white backgrund draw a diagnal line. Layer 1 red n white square with 1 white n red square, right sides tgether Sew 1/4 frm each side f drawn line...yes, sew twice. Cut n drawn line. Being careful nt t warp triangles, gently irn triangles pen...int squares. Irn seam allwances pen. Yu nw have 2, HSTS Trim HSTS t 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" square

5 Repeat prcess with all red n white and white n red squares fr a ttal f 48 HSTS fr traditinal crner patches Repeat prcess with all red n red and white n white squares fr a ttal f 16 HSTS fr WRONG crner patches BLOCKS Gather 48 traditinal crner patch HSTS 16 WRONG crner patch HSTS 80, 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" red n white squares Making ne blck at a time, arrange 9 pieces in frnt f yu t match drawing. Be careful t get the red triangles riented crrectly. Sew patches tgether t make rws Rw 1: traditinal HST with RED dwn and t the right; red n white square; traditinal HST with RED dwn and t the left. Rw 2: red n white square; red n white square; red n white square Rw 3: WRONG HST with Red dwn and t the left; red n white square; traditinal HST with Red UP and t the left. Irn seam allwances twards the red n white square in rws 1 and 3 Irn seam allwances away frm the center in rw 2 Sew rws tgether t make blck Trim blck t 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" square. Repeat 15 times fr a ttal f 16 blcks. Quilt Tp Gather 16 blcks

6 Arrange blcks in a 4 x 4 grid being careful t rient them s that the WRONG HST crners tuch. (see arrws in layut diagram abve) Sew sets f 4 blck rws. With the WRONG HST n the side clsest t yu, irn all seam allwances in the same directin., Sew rws tgether t make center f quilt. NOTE: If yu irned the seam allwances as suggested, the allwances will snuggle tgether when yu flip rws 2 and 4 t rient them crrectly. Irn seam allwances in the same directin. Measure quilt and recrd belw. It shuld measure smething like 48 1/2" x 48 1/2". wide lng Brders Inner Brder Gather 5, 1 1/2 x width f fabric (wf) strips fr inner brder 2, 2 x 2 squares inner brder fabric

7 2, 2 x 2 squares uter brder fabric Setting Squares Using methd described abve make 4, 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" HSTS frm 2" x 2" squares Edge pieces Cut 1, 1 1/2" x wf strip int 4 equal pieces measuring 1 1/2" x 10 1/2" give r take. Sew 1, 1 1/2" x 10 1/2" sectin t the skinny edge f each 1 1/2" x wf strip. Irn seam allwances pen. Using measurements recrded abve, cut strips t lengths equal t the side f yur tp. They shuld be very clse t 1 1/2" x 48 1/2" each. Sew edge pieces t 2, parallel sides f tp. Irn seam allwances tward the brder. Being careful t rient the crners in the crrect directin, sew setting squares t ends f remaining edge pieces. See diagram belw. Irn seam allwances tward the setting blcks. Sew pieces t remaining brder-less edges f quilt Irn seam allwances tward brders. Measure quilt and recrd belw.
