Note and measure scale printed on the template page to ensure template accuracy. Cut out each paper template ⅛" beyond dotted lines. Glue paper templates to template plastic and cut out on dotted lines. Seam allowance of ¼" is noted on the templates. When using templates, place them on right side of fabric so that the template text can be read. Cut each square on the diagonal twice to yield (48) QSTs M: Fabric G (red scroll print) Inner Border Cut (3) 1¼" x WOF strips. From one strip, subcut (2) 1¼" x 14" rectangles. From remaining strips, subcut (2) 1¼" x 39" rectangles. Binding Cut (5) 2½" x WOF strips N: Fabric H (navy scroll print) Cut (1) 3¼" x WOF strip. Subcut (6) 3¼" squares. Cut each square on the diagonal twice to yield (24) QSTs. Reserve remaining fabric. From the reserved fabric, cut (2) 2¼" squares. Table Runner Instructions 1. Referring to Diagram 1, sew one 3⅜" Fabric F (cream scroll print) HST and one 3⅜" Fabric B (small brown print) together for one Unit 1. Unit 1 should measure 3" square. Make a total of four Unit 1. Diagram 1 2. Referring to Diagram 2, sew one Fabric F (cream scroll print) B-triangle between one Fabric D (red stripe) Triangle A and one Fabric D (red stripe) Reverse Triangle A for Unit 2. 3. Referring to Diagram 3 and noting the orientation of the pieces, sew one 2¼" Fabric H (navy scroll print) square between two 2⅛" Fabric F (cream scroll print) HSTs.

Press the four Fabric F (cream scroll print) triangles away from the unit center. Trim Unit 3 to measure 3" square if needed. Make a total of one Unit 3. Diagram 3 4. Row 1.

Referring to Diagram 5 and noting following order: Unit 2, Unit 3, Unit 2 for Row 2. Row 2 should measure 3" x 8". Make a total of one Row 2. Diagram 5 6. Assemble.

Noting orientation of the rows, sew the two rows together for one 4½" square. Make a total of six. Assemble Pieced Border 17. Referring to Diagram 15 and noting orientation of the blocks, sew three together for one Pieced Border. Pieced Border should measure 4½" x 12½". Make a total of two Pieced Borders. Diagram Referring to Diagram 16, sew one Pieced Border between two 2½" x 12½" Fabric C (small red print) rectangles for one Runner Center End Border. End Border should measure 8½" x 12½". Make a total of two End Borders. Diagram 16 Assemble Table Runner Top Note: Refer to the Table Runner Layout Diagram for the following steps. 19. Sew the Runner Center between two 2¾" x 23" Fabric C (small red print) rectangles. Runner Center should now measure 12½" x 23". 20. 6 Table Runner Layout 21. Inner Border. Sew one 1¼" x 39" Fabric G (red scroll print) rectangle to each long side of the Runner Center. Sew one 1¼" x 14" Fabric G (red scroll print) rectangle to each short side of the Runner Center. Runner Center should now measure 14" x 40½". 22. Outer Border. Sew one 3½" x 40½" Fabric A (large blue print) to each long side of the Runner Center. Sew one 3½" x 20" Fabric A (large blue print) to each short side of the Runner Center. Runner Top should measure 20" x 46½". Finishing 1. If not already done, prepare Fabric E (navy stripe) backing to measure 28" x 55". 2. Lay out the quilt top right side up on the top of the batting and the wrong side of the backing fabric. CANTERBURY TABLE RUNNER Designed by: Janice Averill for Quilting Treasures 3. Baste the layers together and quilt as desired. Trim the backing and batting even with the quilt top. 4. Sew the five 2½" x WOF Fabric G (red scroll print) strips together (end to end) using 45 seams to make a continuous strip. Fold strip in half lengthwise (with wrong sides together) and press. Bind as desired.
