You know the functions of your machine best. Due to some recent challenges in class when students are sewing on unfamiliar machines, we are instituting the following changes. We have one BERNINA 330 (5.5mm stitch width) and one BERNINA 450 (9mm stitch width) available to rent for $25 per class. You must pay for rental and reserve these machines in advance. At this time we do not have embroidery machines available for rent. 4 Beginning Quilting This class leads you through the whole process of making a small, beginner level rail fence quilt, from choosing and cutting the fabrics to sewing the top, to sandwiching the batting, then doing the quilting and binding. It is a great introduction to quilting for those who want to get started and will also help to hone skills for those who have already made some quilts. This is a six class series. Teacher: Marilyn Wright (828) Learning to Use EQ8 Software Have you ever wished you could see a quilt pattern completed in the fabric you have chosen before you cut that fabric and piece the quilt? Would you like to play around with various quilt blocks and design your own quilt? Come join us as we learn to use the powerful software package Electric Quilt 8 and become the designer of your unique quilts. We will begin with the basics to get you comfortable with the software and build on those skills each session. You will be able to choose from a library of quilt blocks or create your own, add fabric from the files in the software, or those available from various manufacturers websites, or scanned images, get cutting instructions and fabric requirements from your completed designs, try out various quilting motifs, and create a quilt that is uniquely yours. April 26, :00-4:00 $20 Teacher: Vanessa Clark Making Faces In Fabric This class is fun on so many levels! It was inspired from Melissa Averino s new book, Making Faces in Fabric. If you have taken Susan s machine quilting classes, this is a great addition to improve those skills. We will first create a simple face in the morning using fabric collage techniques and unique fabrics, and then in the afternoon we will machine quilt all the details, like eyelashes and hair. In this class, you will learn to make a pattern from your picture and select fabrics to use to make your scene. You will learn to construct the wall-hanging as well as techniques to enhance the designs using thread painting, free motion quilting, shading, and highlighting using fabric crayons or paints. A half day class is all you need to learn how to make a quilt or jacket. April 27, 0:00-:00 $20 Teacher: Vanessa Clark Strips and Strings Piecing together strips of leftover fabric in order to make something larger and more useful is a very old technique. In fact, it s one of the most traditional ways to make a quilt. This project uses paper to act as a foundation, and is a fast and easy way to support fabric that may or may not be cut with the grain. This is a technique class, rather than a project class.
