Grease and line a deep 20cm cake tin with baking parchment. b) Mix the flour and cinnamon together in a large bowl. Add the butter and rub into the flour using your fingers, until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the light brown sugar. Beat in the egg followed by 6-8 tbsp of milk you want to achieve a smooth, thick batter. c) Add the apples and sultanas and mix to combine. Scrape the batter into your prepared tin and gently level out. Sprinkle over the demerara sugar and bake. In the oven for minutes or until golden and a skewer inserted into the middle comes out clean d) Allow to cool in the tin for 15 minutes and then carefully turn out onto a wire rack to cool further.

5 RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY By signing the Entry Form, it will be assumed that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by our conditions of entry. Who can take Part? 2. The Show is open to all amateurs. Children should enter the age group to which they belong on 8 th July How many Entries? 3. You may enter as many classes as you wish but no exhibitor may enter more than one exhibit in each class. Fees and Forms? 4. One Entry form per exhibitor. Entry forms can be handed in to the Aldermaston Canal Tea Rooms or posted to Padworth Show, 76 Fallows Road, Padworth, RG7 4GX from 2 nd June until Thursday 5 th July at the latest. Late entries will be charged Entry fees will be 50p per exhibit in adult classes the fee is to accompany the Entry Form. Free entry for exhibitors in children s classes, but an Entry Form must be completed. What is an Exhibit? 6. All exhibits must be the exhibitor s own work and must not have been exhibited previously in a show. Displaying your Exhibits on Show Day 7. Arrive early. Allow yourself plenty of time. The Hall will be open to exhibitors only for staging from 08.30am 11.15am, after which the hall will be cleared for judging. 8. Exhibitors must collect a Class Card for each Entry at the door on the Show Day from 08.30am onwards. The card must be placed exhibitor s NAME SIDE DOWN with each exhibit. 9. Please carefully check your quantities, numbers, or sizes to avoid disqualification. Horticultural Classes 10. Points are awarded according to condition, quality, size, uniformity, and colour. 11. Each entry must consist of one variety (cultivar) unless stated otherwise i.e. classes 13. Please label named varieties to add to the public s enjoyment. Bring a label with your Entry card. If the variety is not known, then state Variety Unknown 12. The words kind, types, varieties are used in the following senses: carrots, potatoes, dahlias, and roses are kinds. Pompom, Cactus and Ball are all types of dahlias. King Edward potatoes and Peace roses are varieties. Vegetables 13. Vegetables (and Fruits) must be displayed on white plates provided by the exhibitor, except class Vegetables should be shown with roots and tops where appropriate and in accordance with the Schedule. 15. Onions prepared for show. Tie or whip roots and tops using raffia and neatly trim the roots back to the basal plate. Try to stage each onion on a ring or soft collar Fruits - How many in a dish? 16. Fruits should be staged, as above in Rule 14, with stalks and calyces left on. Cut Flowers 17. Cut flowers must be displayed in the green vases supplied. Please arrange your exhibits away from the Show benches and in sufficient water to last the day. 18. Dahlia and Chrysanthemum stems should be disbudded. 19. Pot plants must have been in the exhibitors possession for at least 3 months. Floral Art 20. Fresh plant material may be purchased. Accessories are allowed when stated. 21. Exhibits should be arranged at home. 22. All flowers to be exhibited in water, or substance which has been soaked in water such as oasis.
6 RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 2018 (continued ) Home produce 23. Cakes and pastries must be staged on white paper plated provided by the exhibitor and covered with cling film. 24. If stated, exhibits must be prepared according to the given recipe. 25. Please take care you are at risk of disqualification if your cake size is incorrect. 26. All loaves, cakes and pastries should be completely cooled before staging. 27. Jam jars must be straight-sided and plain. Lids must be plain screw on without wording (i.e. no company wording due to advertising rules), or pliable press-on, or clear cellophane. No advertising labels to be seen on jars or bottles. 28. There is no facility to refrigerate exhibits onsite. Paté, fish, meat, cream, eggs, and yogurts should be avoided. No cooked rice should be used. DO NOT EXHIBIT ITEMS WHICH CAN CAUSE FOOD POISONING WITHOUT REFRIGERATION. 29. Fruits for jams and chutneys may be purchased. Fine Art 30. Signatures should be covered. Photographs and Handicrafts 31. Marks for needlework or photos can be adversely affected by poor mounting. 32. Ideally, do mount Photographs. All photographs to be single entry and not presented as 3 of a kind or in a triple-window mount. 33. Commercially produced needle work kits, patterns and printed canvases are acceptable credit will be given for original design. Judging, Points, Trophies & Prize Money 34. In fruit, flowers and vegetables classes, judging will be in accordance with the guidelines of the Royal Horticultural Society s latest show handbook. 35. Except for Officials and other authorised individuals, no person will be allowed in the hall while judging is taking place. Points: FIRST 3 points, SECOND 2 POINTS, THIRD 1 point In the event of a tie, the Exhibitor who has gained the most 1 st places will be judged the cup winner. 36. Craft and photography classes will be marked in line with WI guidelines. 37. Floral Art classes will be marked in line with National Associated Floral Arts Society (NAFAS). 38. Children s classes will be marked in line with Scouts guidelines where relevant. 39. Best in Show Trophies will be awarded at the judges discretion and their decision is final. 40. Cups will be awarded on merit points system. 41. Awards may be withheld if, in their opinion, exhibits are of insufficient merit. 42. Classes which attract three or fewer entries will not necessarily have any prizes awarded, any prizes awarded will be at the judge s discretion. 43. In the event a class attracts a very large number of entries, every entry will be judged but the show organisers reserve the right to stage a limited number of entries. 44. The Best in Show will be at the discretion of the judges. There will be Best in Show for Fruit, vegetables, cut flowers and pot plant sections; and Best in Show for Floral Arts, Preserves, Cookery, Crafts and Photography. 45. PADWORTH AND ALDERMASTON WHARF CRAFT AND PRODUCE SHOW IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH ANY ORGANISATIONS AND LOCAL RULES WILL TAKE PRECEDENCE OVER ANY OTHERS MENTIONS IN RULES 34-37
7 RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 2018 (continued ) 46. Any protest must be made in writing and delivered to the Secretary within 30 minutes of the produce Show opening to the public. 47. Trophies can be held for 12 months only, and must be returned to the Committee in good, clean condition at least 3 weeks before the next Show. 48. Prizes awarded in each Class 1 st ; 2 nd 75p and 3 rd 50p should be collected from the Steward by 3.30pm Retrieval of exhibits at the end of Show. 49. Vegetables, fruit, flowers, and cookery are auctioned to benefit the Show. Red dots are supplied to fix to each entry card if exhibitors wish to keep their produce. Other exhibits will not be auctioned without prior permission. 50. No exhibit or prize cards may be removed before the presentation of trophies, auction and raffle, as advised on the day, normally at approx. 4.00pm 51. The Committee, while exercising reasonable care, will not be responsible for the loss of, or damage to any exhibits or containers connected with the Show.
