1 The 2016 Louisville Lions Club Fair is scheduled for October 4-8 at the Louisville Lions Club Fairgrounds and local residents are urged to take part in the fair by entering the various competitive events. The following rules and regulations will be used in preparing entries. For more information, contact Linda D. Farris at Please take time to enter and enjoy the pleasure of a good old-fashioned county fair. INDIVIDUAL EXHIBITS 1. Entry tags will be available in advance by request or at the Exhibit Building from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, October 1 and 1-5pm Sunday, October 2. No exhibit will be received after 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 2. (Exception: Foods may be received Monday morning, October 3, at the Extension Office between 8-9 a.m.) ALL EXHIBITORS WITH FIVE (5) OR MORE ENTRIES ARE URGED TO COMPLETE THEIR ENTRY TAGS IN ADVANCE. 2. All exhibits will be judged on Monday, October 3. Decisions of judges will be final. Prize money will be available at pick-up time Sunday, October Ticket stubs must be presented by exhibitor to claim items exhibited. Exhibits must be removed between 1:00 and 5:00pm. Sunday, October 9. If you cannot pick up your exhibit, please make arrangements to have someone else pick it up for you. 4. Every precaution will be taken to protect all entries, but articles are entered at owner's risk. 5. Exhibits must be completed by exhibitor during the 12 months preceding the fair. No items previously exhibited in the Louisville Lions Club Fair may be entered. 6. Exhibitor may enter only one entry per lot and may enter as many lots as desired. Exhibit must be the work of the exhibitor. All exhibits must be clean and suitable for display. 7. All food entries must be brought to the Extension Office Monday, October 3 from 8am 9am. All food becomes property of the Exhibit Building Committee. 8. Prizes 1 st Place $5 and ribbon 2 nd Place... $3 and ribbon 3 rd Place... $2 and ribbon 9. Best of Show ribbons and an award of $10 will be given for Division K-2 nd Grade, 3 rd -5 th Grade and one Large Exhibitor. 10. An Outstanding Exhibitor ribbon and an award of $5 will be presented to the individual exhibitor who earns the most points based on the following system: 1 st Place points 2 nd Place points 3 rd Place points LARGE EXHIBITS 1. Must be reserved in advance. 2. All exhibits must be completed by 5 p.m. Sunday, October, 2. The building will be open Saturday, October 1, 1-5pm and Sunday, October 2, 1-5pm. 1
2 3. The exhibits will be judged on Monday, Oct. 3rd. No one but the judges and the fair committee will be allowed in the building during judging. The decision of the judges will be final. 4. Each category: Church, School, Club, Business and Community Groups will receive ribbons and prize money. First Place $50 and Ribbon Second Place $40 and Ribbon Third Place $30 and Ribbon 4-H MINI-BOOTH EXHIBITS 4-H Mini-Booth Exhibits are open to all 4-H ers (a maximum of 30 exhibits will be accepted). For information and to reserve your Mini Booth Exhibit contact Mrs. Farris at the County Extension Office Prizes will be awarded in each of the following divisions: Cloverleaf - Grades 5 and 6 Junior - Grades 7 and 8 Senior - Grades 9 through 12 Prizes 1st Place... $ 25 2nd Place... $ 15 3rd Place... $ 10 Award of Merit... $ 5 1. All Mini-Booth Exhibits must be completed by 5 p.m. Sunday, October, 2. The building will be open Saturday, October 1, 1-5pm and Sunday, October 2, 1-5pm. 2. The exhibits will be judged on Monday, Oct. 3rd. No one but the judges and the fair committee will be allowed in the building during judging. The decision of the judges will be final. 3. The fair committee will not be responsible for loss or damage to any exhibit. 4-H SCARECROW CONTEST The Contest will be held at the Exhibit Building on Saturday, October 1 at 3:00pm. 4-H er may have one family member assist them with creating the scarecrow. The entry must be freestanding. 4-H will provide each 4-H er with a freestanding T form that is approximately 5 tall with an arm spread of 36. Scarecrows must be assembled during contest on T form provided. Hay will be furnished for stuffing. Decorating of scarecrow s head may be done in advance, but T form must be used as the skeleton of the body. Old clothes may be used, but purchased Halloween costumes are prohibited. Scarecrows should be lovable and humorous, not frightening. Scary faced witches or monsters will be disqualified. Scarecrows will be judged on creativity and originality, overall appearance, adherence to rules and use of T frame and degree of difficulty. You must call in advance to reserve your T form. Scarecrow will be on display in Exhibit Building for week of fair. Winners will receive ribbons. 4-H PAINTED PUMPKIN CONTEST Get out your paint brush and paint any size pumpkin! Ribbons will be given for the scariest, funniest and most unusual painted pumpkin. Bring pumpkin to Exhibit Building October 1, 1-5pm or October 2, 1-5pm. 2
