Our Stewards will make up a For Sale price tag and place on the exhibit for you. A commission of 10% payable to the Ipswich Show Society will apply to articles sold. PLEASE NOTE SIZE OF PAINTING ON ENTRY FORM. Freight on exhibits sent by rail or carrier must be prepaid. Address the exhibits to the Ipswich Show Society, Ipswich Showgrounds, 81 Warwick Road, Ipswich Attached to all the exhibits should be the exhibitor s name, address, and the class the exhibit is to be entered in. Stewards will be in attendance at the Exhibits Display Pavilion to receive your entries for the Fine Arts Categories on Saturday, 12 th May from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm. Delivery of entries will not be accepted at the Society Office before this date unless prior arrangements are made. Exhibits are to be collected, and the prize money will be paid on Monday, 21 st May from 8:30 am until 11:00 am. A receipt must be produced when collecting entries and prize money. Entries must be the bona fide original work of the Exhibitor and completed WITHIN THE LAST 24 MONTHS PRECEDING THE SHOW. ALL ENTRIES MUST NOT HAVE BEEN EXHIBITED AT ANY PREVIOUS SHOW OF THIS SOCIETY. If insufficient space is available to display all the entries, then the Stewards reserve the right to select which exhibits, in addition to the prize winning exhibits are to be displayed. 2 FINE ART ENTRY FEE: $5.00 (for classes 1 to 23) PLEASE NOTE LIMIT OF 3 ENTRIES PER CLASS PER ARTIST Entries for 2D works are limited to 120 cm in height x 100 cm in width including the frame. Due to limited space this rule will be strictly enforced. Oversized work may be disqualified. ALL 2D WORKS MUST BE SUITABLY PREPARED FOR HANGING, WITH WIRE OR CORD ATTACHED TO EYES SCREWED INTO THE FRAME OR BACK OF THE WORK. (Do not use either string, attached by masking tape or a metal clip attached to the cardboard backing of the painting to hang your exhibit as both of these practices have been known to pull out). Note: clear glaze and coloured glaze totally covered by an over glaze, is one technique only and not a multi technique for example UNDER GLAZE Antiquing: applying colour and wiping back from raised surface Detail in Mould: applied colour to a design formed in the mould Majolica: under-glaze decoration applied over unfired non-moving glaze before firing Sgraffito: scratching a design through colour with a tool Air Brushing: design or technique to be done by air gun Miscellaneous: any other under glaze techniques and up to 1/3 of piece may include other mediums (eg: decals, over glazes, or attachments such as lamp, clock or music box fittings)

GLAZE Glaze combination: multi glazes applied over each other usually with modifying glaze between them Glaze in design: glaze painted in a design or glazes butted to each other in specific areas Miscellaneous: any other glaze technique and up to 1/3 of piece may include other mediums (eg. decals, over glazes, or attachments such as lamp, clock or music box fittings) MAGAZINE PROJECT Any piece copied from a ceramic magazine, technique must be exact and greenware and colours to be as close as possible Reproduction of folk art from folk art magazine or in vogue characters and/or themes (eg. movie, cartoon of book characters etc.) In all cases the magazine or article the reproduction is taken from must accompany the piece to allow for correct judging BISQUE STAIN (acrylic or non-fired colour) Hand Painted Design: line work, decorative painting and painting or original designs Antiquing & Opaque: applied colour to raised areas formed in the mould. Translucent colour applied then wiped off raised areas. Metallic: metallic like materials in paste, powder or liquid form Chalk/Pastels: rouging colour using fine chalk powder Dry Brushing: brushing colour onto raised areas after most of colour is wiped from brush Applied Texture: adding sand, grog (is clay which has been fired then ground up) or paper to stain media, then applying to bisque piece Miscellaneous: any other stain techniques up to 1/3 of piece may include other mediums (eg. decals, over glazes or attachments such as lamp, clock or music box fittings) GREENWARE ADAPTATION YOUR DESIGN (altering the original appearance of greenware piece by) - Cut Outs: areas of clay removed shapes, flowers, piercing etc. Claylifting: raising the surface of the piece to form a design Incising: carving and bevelling to form a three dimensional pattern Chemically Textured: the use of acid products to ware away a background or create a textured surface Decoration: the addition of decoration such as, dipped fabric flowers, cloth and stripping (lace draping). Shaping and forming of flowers and/or patterns. This includes all forms of sprigging or adding hand built form. Combination: using at least two pieces to create a new piece Handicraft: the addition of non-ceramics mediums up to 1/3 of piece (eg. lamp, clock or music box fitting). Piece can be finished in any medium NOVICE (any person who is within their first 12 months of learning ceramics) PROFESSIONAL (not permitted to enter in any other class) Any person who now owns, operates or conducts a ceramic studio or business, or has in the past, or who teaches or sells ceramics commercially for profit or operates under a business name, or is a market stall holder or regularly sells for profit.
