1 18th Annual Lines into Shapes Art Competition & Sale November 1 November 16, 2014 Art Center & Gallery of Estes Park Categories of acceptable media are: Category 1: Category 2: Category 3: Category 4: Category 5: Category 6: Painting I includes oil, encaustic Painting II watermedia, includes watercolor, pastel, acrylic, gouache Graphics Pencil/Scratchboard/Ink/Original printmaking etc. Photography Sculpture carved, cast, or molded such as ceramics, wood carving, blown and cast glass, bronze Assembled Art multi piece work including jewelry, fiber, wood work, stained glass, collage Two broad divisions of competition will be used in each category. There will be separate awards and different entry fees for each division. They are not mutually exclusive. Artists may submit up to the maximum number of entries in each Division for which they are qualified. Division A: In Gallery Work submitted in this division, if accepted, will be shipped to the Art Center to participate in the Gallery Show and Sale. In addition to awards within the category, these pieces will be eligible for special awards which are awarded by their sponsors based on review of the actual artwork at the Gallery. Open to artists residing in the United States only. Division B: Online - Work submitted in this division will compete for awards online, within their respective categories, only. Accepted work will appear on the Art Center website with links to the artist, and need not be shipped. Open to all artists. ELIGIBILITY Open to all artists who create original fine art within the limits of the categories listed above. Work must be original and executed within the past two years. Work previously accepted in any "LINES into SHAPES" Juried Exhibition may not be submitted. Entry in this exhibit establishes an agreement on the part of the artist to all conditions listed in this prospectus. All artwork must be for sale. Only artists residing in the United States will be accepted in Division A In Gallery. PROMOTION Would you like to reduce your entry fee? Artists using the online entry form will be given a Promotion Code at the payment page. If you give that code to an artist who has never entered Lines into Shapes, they can use that code when they enter and will be given a 20% discount on their entry fees. In addition, the artist whose code is used (YOU) will receive a $5 refund on their own fee for in Gallery entrants and $1 for Online entrants. Multiple uses of your code could reduce your fee to zero (but not lower). This refund will be determined after all entries and payments are received. Please spread the word and get fellow artists to enter. We would like to introduce new artists to Lines into Shapes. Note: Art Center staffers do NOT have access to the codes and will not be able to assist those who mail their entries or call the gallery.

2 ENTRY FEES Division A ( In Gallery ): a non-refundable entry fee of $15.00 per entry with a limit of 4 entries. Division B ( Online ): a non-refundable entry fee of $5.00 per entry with a limit of 5 entries. Artists may submit up to the maximum number of entries in each Division for which they are qualified potentially 9 entries. Checks/Money Orders should be made payable to: Art Center of Estes Park. Or, payment may be made by credit card by calling the Gallery ( ) with the credit card information. Entries can also be entered via the Art Center website: and paid by PayPal following online instructions. AWARDS Up to $4,000 will be awarded. In Gallery winners will be selected from the actual artworks. Online winners will be selected from the online submissions. Awards will be presented at the opening reception, October 31, DATES TO REMEMBER August 31 - deadline for receipt of mailed and online entries. NOTE: must be received by midnight, 8/31/2014. Week of September 15 - Acceptance/Rejection notification sent. October 10 - Deadline for receipt of shipped artwork. October 11 and 12 - Hand Delivery of accepted artwork 10:00 am - 5:00 pm Daily. Deliver to the Art Center & Gallery of Estes Park-517 Big Thompson Ave-Estes Park, CO November 1 - Opening reception for artists and public 4:00-8:00 pm. Open to the public. November 16-1 pm - END OF SHOW. Artwork will not be released before 1:00 pm--no EXCEPTIONS. November 16 November 21 Pick up hand delivered artwork 10:00 am - 5:00 pm - Open Daily November 24 & 25 - Return of shipped artwork. APPLICATION PROCEDURES You must provide the Art Center & Gallery with three (3) items. 1. Digital images of your entries. 2. A completed Entry Form. 3. Payment. You may choose the combination most convenient for you. Images: Images should be sized to fit within a 1500x1000 pixel box. Much smaller images will put you at a disadvantage and larger images will needlessly increase upload time if you submit online. The images may be mailed to: the Art Center & Gallery on a CD, ed as attachments to LIS@artcenterofestes.com, or uploaded directly to the Art Center & Gallery website, using the online submission form. Photo CDs will be not returned. Entry Forms: An Entry Form must accompany all entries. Mail a paper form (available for download at our website) to the Gallery, or submit online using the online form at our website. 3 Payment: The following methods of payment are acceptable: 1. Mail Checks/Money Orders, payable to: Art Center of Estes Park, 517 Big Thompson Avenue, Estes Park, CO Credit card: by calling the Gallery with the credit card information ( ), or providing the card information requested on the paper entry form. 3. Payment may also be entered via our website, and paid through PayPal following online instructions, or directly to at the PayPal website. CONDITIONS OF ACCEPTANCE & AGREEMENTS The following statements constitute an agreement between the artist and the Art Center & Gallery of Estes Park. No exceptions will be made to these rules. Artwork must be offered for sale. The Art Center & Gallery will retain a 40% commission on all artwork sold at the Gallery. Prices may not be changed after submission. The Entry Form must be filled out completely and legibly. The information recorded on this Entry Form is considered final and may not be changed. Entries without signatures (unless submitted electronically) or incomplete data will not be processed. Any requirements of the exhibit not fulfilled will result in disqualification. The Art Center & Gallery of Estes Park reserves the right to use reproductions of accepted artwork for the purpose of promotion of the exhibit which may include media outlets, poster, mailings and the Art Center & Gallery s website. All In Gallery entries must meet requirements as listed below. Two-dimensional art must be appropriately framed and ready to hang. Acetate coverings, brackets, quick-frames, or any type of device leaving exposed glass or Plexiglas will not be accepted. The Art Center & Gallery will exclude any entry that presents unusual installation problems, or is improperly framed. Artwork must not differ from the entry images. CDs will not be returned. All artwork should be insured by the artist. The Art Center & Gallery of Estes Park will not assume any liability for damage to artwork while in its possession. All artwork is handled with professional care. Artists will be notified immediately if artwork arrives at the Gallery damaged. SIZE LIMITATIONS (apply to Division A In Gallery work only) Two-dimensional art shall not exceed 120 inches in perimeter, not including the frame. This equals the sum of the length of all 4 sides. Example: 24" x 36" = 120 inches. Gallery-wrapped artwork will be accepted if edges painted. EXCEPTION to unframed fiber entries: not to exceed 136 inches in perimeter. Example: 28 x 40 = 136. This equals the sum of the length of all 4 sides. Three-dimensional art shall not exceed 60 pounds.

4 Wall pieces may not exceed 30 pounds and must include specific hanging instructions and hardware. A prepaid UPS or FEDX BARCODE return shipping label must be included with any shipped art. Shipping to and from the Art Center & Gallery is at the expense of the artist. Shipping containers must fit within a standard door opening: 36 wide by 80 high. If artist s shipping container will not easily be moved thru door opening, acceptance will be refused. AWARD JUDGES To be determined. We will attempt to insure the judges have a wide range of experience in various mediums. Preliminary screening will be done using submitted digital files. Accepted artists will be notified. The Award Judges reserve the right to re-categorize artwork. The final award selection will be made by Award Judges from the actual artwork for In Gallery work and from the submitted images for Online awards.
