The ARTERY EMERGING ARTIST AWARD $1000 Artery Voucher Open to young artists aged between 16 and 25 This award is intended to assist aspiring young artists in the furtherance of their artistic endeavours. The award will be judged on participants submitted artwork together with their statement of intent. The MARGARET GUNN PERPETUAL TROPHY $500 prize money This perpetual trophy is awarded to a quiet achiever by the Gunn family. A quiet achiever is an artist who has supported the RAST exhibitions and made a significant contribution to the Tasmanian arts community quietly and without fuss. RAST AWARD $ prize money sponsored by the RAST This award is for an entry that best depicts an agricultural theme. 4 CONDITIONS OF ENTRY 1. All work must be the original work of the exhibitor, be unaided and completed within two years prior to this exhibition. 2. Each artist can exhibit a maximum of 3 works. Only 2D work will be accepted. 3. Only artists aged between 16 and 25 at the 1st October 2017,can be eligible for the Artery Emerging Artist Award. 4. ENTRY FEE: $15 first entry, subsequent entries $10. Fee must accompany entry form and is non-refundable. 5. All entries must be suitably framed, ready for hanging, with D rings and picture framing wire 6. Gallery edged canvas entries are accepted unframed, provided that there are no exposed staples or fastenings and are ready to hang, with D rings and picture framing wire 7. Unsatisfactorily framed work may not be hung. Wet work will not be accepted. 8. Artwork in all Sections shall not exceed 155 cm on any one side. Miniatures in section D, must adhere to a 100square cm size limit. 9. No diptych, triptych or multi-panelled work will be accepted. 10. All works must be for sale with a 25% commission to RAST. 11. Exhibitors must complete the entry form and pay the appropriate fee. Part A is to be forwarded to RAST, PO Box 94, Glenorchy, 7010 to be received by 7th October Part B is to be attached to the top left hand corner on the back of the artwork 11. Exhibitors wishing to be considered for the Artery Emerging Artist Award need to fill out a separate entry form for that section which includes the artist statement of less than 200 words. Describe your work and your hopes and dreams for your art career. 12. Although all possible care will be taken RAST, its employees and hanging committee accept no responsibility for any loss, theft or damage to the artwork whilst at the Hobart Showground. Artists are advised to arrange their own insurance. 13. Exhibitors agree to publication of reproductions of their work for publicity purposes for newspapers, magazines, web-based media or television. 14. Entries accepted on the basis that the overall winning entry will be available for display at Artery from the conclusion of the Royal Hobart Show until 13th November The artworks are judged by a panel of independent and experienced judges. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 16. Artists of work that is deemed NOT to meet the Conditions of Entry will be contacted by Friday, 20th October. Definitions Gift Vouchers Redeemable for art materials and or picture framing at Artery. OR a print and frame package from ICC Imagetec (T.B.C). Prize money - Cheque made out to the prize winner from the sponsor. Delivery Instructions: All artwork to be delivered at the artists expense to the Grandstand Hall, Hobart Showground, 2 Howard Road, Glenorchy, Tas 7010 on Monday 16th October between 10.00am and 2.00pm. Collection Instructions: Collection of work by exhibitors from the Grandstand Hall on Monday the 30th October between 10am 2pm. If artwork is unable to be collected during these times, an alternative time must be arranged with the RAST staff prior to the collection date. Artwork not collected by the end of November will become the property of RAST. Sold work may be collected by arrangement. Artists are encouraged to steward during the show for a few hours. A free entry Stewardship: ticket will be provided. Please indicate your preferred time on your entry form. Artist s Payments: Artists will be paid by cheque from RAST for the sale price of works less 25%commission by the end of November.
