Articles should be entered according to the grade the student was in as of June Exhibitor may show in a higher grade level, but not lower. 5. If more than 6 entries in any one section, a 4 th prize will be awarded, the same as a 3 rd. 6. Read carefully what is required. Not following instructions may result in disqualification or a lower placement. Size restrictions will be strictly adhered to. 7. Articles will be judged as the product of youth not as perfect works of art. 8. Originality and effort are as important as workmanship. 9. Parental supervision is encouraged, but all work must be done by the child. Name of Fair, District #, Contact Person (Sue Pearson), Owner and complete mailing address to be clearly labelled on back of each entry. Judging to be based on overall appearance, ability to attract and hold attention, clarity of competition theme, and quality of materials/end product. The winning entry to go to the District 4 Competition. JS2 Essay Contest Topic: Why the Kinmount Fair is Important to Me Length: 250 words maximum JS3 Kinmount Fair Colouring Book Page Create a colouring book page using Kinmount Fair as the theme. Picture should be drawn/outlined in black marker.

Item judged on decoration only. JB2 JB3 Rice Krispies Jack O Lantern Judged on appearance, taste, texture and creativity of recipe and presentation. Christmas Tree Made using an ice cream cone as a base decorated with icing and candies. Grade 5 to Grade 8 inclusive JB4 JB5 JB6 Baking Item made with maple syrup, 2 on a plate A small square cake (8 or 9 ) decorated to look like a quilt block Decorative, edible sheep made from marshmallows, etc. displayed on a 6 paper plate. JB7 OAAS Chocolate Chip Cookie Contest Open to all youths ages years (as of December 31, 2016). The entry is to consist of 8 homemade cookies (max size 3 ) to be displayed in a sturdy box with easy to remove lid. Box may be decorated. Judging to be based on presentation, general appearance, internal appearance and flavour. The winning entry goes to the District 4 competition in October/November.
