1 JUNIOR PRIZE LIST Contact: Yvonne Magwood Entries received Thursday, August 10th... 7:00-9:00 p.m.... at the Raceway. Exhibits must be picked up at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 13th, Rules and Regulations 1. Use only tags that are issued. Do not use old tags. Entry tags will be available to fill out when items are dropped off, or can be picked up at the Coach House Restaurant prior to August All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form in order for prize money to be awarded. 3. No exhibitor can make more than one entry in each. 4. No entry fee in any class. 5. All produce from home gardens and grown from seed and attractiveness of display to count. 6. Pupils who were in Grade 8 in may enter. 7. Students under 16 years old exhibiting in adult classes must pay a $5.00 Membership Fee. 8. Exhibits must be picked up at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 13th, Prize money will be sent to the school in the fall. 10. Parents are urged to allow their children to do all the work in preparing their exhibits without assistance. Encourage them in every way, but remember that the work parents do for children defeats the object of the Fair which is to teach the boys and girls to do things themselves. Age groups are determined by the grade you finished in June For example, if you finished grade 3 in June, please enter into the grade three section.

2 ~ Class 4 ~ Junior Vegetables Open to all Elementary Students Vegetables to be displayed in a suitable box or on a styrofoam tray suitable for the vegetable being exhibited (no paper plates, do not put in plastic bags). Be sure tags are firmly attached. Choose vegetables that are about the same size and shape. 1. Onions ~ cooking ~ five ~ clean, dry only ~ do not peel 2. Tallest cornstalk 3. Potatoes ~ white ~ five ~ clean, dry only 4. Potatoes ~ red ~ five ~ clean, dry only 5. Beets ~ round type ~ five ~ with 3 cm top 6. Carrots ~ five ~ with 5 cm top ~ between 8-12 cm long 7. Cucumbers ~ three ~ no longer than 50cm 8. Yellow beans ~ 5 ~ clean and dry 9. Green beans ~ 5 ~ clean and dry 10. Tomatoes ~ cherry ~ five ~ displayed with stems up 11. Largest squash 12. Any other unusual vegetable not previously listed ~ stem attached ~ named 13. Green peppers ~ Create a Mr. Potato Head ~ using only real potatoes, veggies and toothpicks ~ Class 5 ~ Junior Flowers, Arrangements & Plants Open to all Elementary Students The following must include their own foliage, and be sturdy enough to be moved by the judges. Contest is open to youth up to age 15 years (as of December 31 of current year). 2. Entry must consist of 8 cookies displayed on a firm, disposable plate. 3. Plain chocolate chip cookies, with no nuts, must be no larger than 3" (6.75 cm) and no smaller than 2" (5 cm). 4. No mixes.
