4 CREATIVE ARTS DEPARTMENT GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. This Department is open to Hunt and surrounding counties. 2. The Creative Arts Building will be open to receive permanent exhibits, April 12th, 3:00-7:30 pm. 3. Five (5) entries per class will be allowed in all divisions. 4. Permanent Exhibits (stay in place during the fair) will be: Adult Crafts & New Collectibles Painting and Drawing Antiques & Collectibles Photography As Seen on Pinterest Canned Foods Senior Citizens Quilts Needle Art Woodturnings Youth Crafts & Special Citizens 5. Special Exhibits will be entered at the following day & time: Baked Products, King Arthur Cookie Contest (entered Saturday. April 23rd, 8:00-9:30 a.m.) Horticulture (entered Thursday, April 28 th, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.) Salsa (entered Thursday, April 28th 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) Creative Cooking (entered Saturday, April 30th, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.) 6. Pick-up times for horticulture and permanent exhibits: Monday, May 2nd, 4:00-7:00 pm., May 3rd, 4:00-7:00 pm. 7. Exhibits MUST stay in place until Sunday, May 1st, 4:00-7:00 pm. Ribbon will be forfeited if exhibit is picked up early. 8. Exhibit tags will be filled out when exhibit is entered. A tag is required for each article. 9. Entry fees are $2.00 per exhibit for youth and adult, with the following exceptions: Nursing home entrants - sponsored Baked Products, King Arthur Flour Cookie Contest - no fee - items are donated to be sold Creative Cooking - no fee - items are donated Salsa - no fee 10. Exhibits will be judged by the American Judging System: 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd place all others will be awarded participation ribbons. 11. Blue ribbon winners in each class will compete for rosettes. Blue rosettes in each division will compete for Best of Division. Best of Divisions will compete for the Best of Show. The baked goods contest will also award a Best of Show. One for youth division (all youth regardless of age) and one adult category. 12. Best Competitor Award will be awarded to the overall competitor (youth and adult compete together) with the most points. 1 st place ribbons -10 points; 2 nd place ribbons 5 points; 3 rd place ribbons 2 points. No points for participation ribbons. This will be awarded at 1:00 p.m., after the final contest on Saturday, April 30th, Exhibits, which have been shown in previous Hunt County Fairs, are not eligible for entry. 14. Demonstrations in the Creative Arts kitchen and building may be made by contacting Tammi Thompson at The Fair Association and those assisting with Creative Arts will exercise all due diligence to prevent damage or loss of articles. ** ARTICLES ARE ENTERED AT OWNER'S RISK. ** 16. Any exhibit easily soiled should be protected with CLEAR plastic. Creative Arts Department is not responsible for soil damage due to dust, dirt or handling. 17. SOILED OR UNFINISHED ITEMS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. 18. Articles must be made by exhibitor. Articles not made by exhibitor may be entered for DISPLAY contact us at hcfcad@gmail.com Page 4

5 ONLY if space permits. Check with appropriate Division Chairman or Board Member. 19. The Chairman of each division will be responsible for the placement of all entries for judging. Placement according to division or class will be determined by the chairman. 20. The Chairman has the authority to add classes and sections in their divisions. 21. EXHIBITS THAT HANG MUST BE EQUIPPED WITH HANGERS TO FIT ON PEGBOARD HOOKS. ALL ENTRIES MUST BE READY TO HANG PRIOR TO ARRIVING AT THE BUILDING. 22. ALL PHOTOGRAPHS MUST BE MATTED OR MOUNTED ON 8 X 10 FOAMBOARD OR MATBOARD. NO FRAMED ENTRIES. HANGERS WILL BE PROVIDED. EXCEPTION STORYBOARD OR COLLAGE MOUNTED ON SINGLE BOARD. NO LARGER THAN 24 X PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS MUST BE FRAMED WITH HANGERS TO FIT ON PEGBOARD HOOKS. (ex. eye screws & wire) 24. All clothing must have a hanger. 25. Subject matter of exhibits must be suitable for family viewing, under the discretion of the Creative Arts Directors. Fair this year where you can earn cash, ribbons, and bragging rights! Print the Pinterest Pin (showing Pinterest link), turn that idea into a craft and enter it in the Creative Arts contest. Entry fee: $2 each Exhibits entered: April 12, 3:00-7:30 p.m. at the Creative Arts Building Grand Prize Winner: $25 Judging: Difficulty (was an intricate process used in making the craft) 30% Accuracy (does the craft reflect the idea of the Pinterest post must print the Pinterest Pin) 30% Eye Appeal (overall finished appearance, complementing colors, etc.) 40% Rule: 1. Exhibits must be made by exhibitor and completed in the last 2 years. 2. Entry must include a print page of the Pinterest Pin (Pinterest logo must be at the top) 3. Entry must include a typed set of step-by-step instructions that you took to create your craft. Be sure to include any variations. 4. Products must be baked by exhibitors. Commercial mixes are not acceptable unless as an ingredient. 5. No duplicate recipes will be accepted from single exhibitor. 6. Contest open to other counties and no organization affiliation is required to enter. 7. Baked items will be for sale to the public after judging. 8. Exhibitors must include a legible copy of the recipe for baked products which includes name and class. 9. Exhibits MUST be in disposable containers. Chairman is NOT responsible for containers. You may enter more than once, but only one entry per participant can win. 3. Please label all entries with the name of the entry and age of exhibitors (youth exhibitors only). For example: Chocolate chip cookies, Age No items requiring refrigeration will be accepted. 5. Cookies will be for sale to the public after judging. 6. Exhibitor must bring the opened bag of King Arthur Flour or submit a UPC label from the flour bag when he/she submits the entry. King Arthur Flour is widely available in local grocery stores. Dish must be prepared in non-returnable containers (not responsible for lost or broken dishes). Best in Class ribbons and a Best in Show rosette will also be awarded. The public will judge horticulture that evening until 9 p.m. for 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place People s Choice Awards. 2. All entries must be grown by exhibitor during the present growing season. Potted plants must be in possession of exhibitor for at least 3 months prior to display. 3. Entries must include a copy of the recipe and exhibit must be labeled mild, medium or firebreathing. 4. Chips may accompany entry but are not required. Chips will be furnished for judging. 5.
