2 20 points for a co-operative entry in classes 1 and points for 1 st in classes 1 and points for 2 nd in classes 1 and points for 3 rd in classes 1 and 2 Class 1 COUNTY SHOW SCHEDULE 2014 CO-OPERATIVE THEME FAIRY TALES Entry Fee: 4 Classes 1 and 2 to the Theme Open Co-operative: Fairy Tales please state which one Presentation and Staging, and any five items from Craft, Cookery, Preserves, Confectionery and Fresh Flowers in any combination, to be judged. No Art or Drink. To be staged in a space no larger than 62cms x 107cms x 92cms (2 deep x 3 6 high x 3 wide) by strictly no more than TWO members. Accessories allowed. Rigid backgrounds and sides to be provided by the Exhibitor. Items to be judged MUST be listed on the entry card provided. The backdrop cannot be judged as a separate item. NFWI Directive: No fish, yoghurt, pate or fruit curd to be used in dishes for judging in the above class (See On with the Show 2012 edition) Class 2 Hawkshaw Trophy awarded to the WI with the best exhibit. Basket for Granny containing 3 edible items. Presentation and three edible items only to be judged. Accessories allowed. Items to be judged MUST be listed on the entry card provided. Presented on a board 35cms (14 ) diameter round or 35cms x 35 cms (14 x 14 ) square. Please note: All items for judging must be removable NOTES AND RULES : Entrance Fees: Classes 1 and 2: 4, all other classes: 35p. : A maximum of one entry per member per class is allowed. : Classes 29-63, 76,79 & 85, to be delivered to the LFWI office for judging on Friday 19 th September 2014 between 10am and 12.30pm. Entry cards must be attached to exhibits with a thread up to 25cm (10 ) long. All exhibits must be unpacked before being handed in for judging. : All other classes to be delivered to Garstang on Tuesday 23 rd September 2014 be tween 9.30am and 11.30am. Entry cards must be attached to exhibits with the appropriate fastening. All exhibits must be unpacked before being handed in for judging. : No exhibit may be removed before 6.30pm on Thursday 25 th September : The LFWI cannot be responsible for any items on display and would suggest that any valuable items be adequately insured by the exhibitor. : All craft entries must be the bona-fide work of the exhibitor and must have been finished in the last year. : WI Rules apply to all exhibitors unless otherwise stated, and all finishing and presentation guidance can be found in the handbook ON WITH THE SHOW (2012 edition) available from your WI secretary. : A maximum of strictly TWO members will be allowed to stage their co-operative. : Members not wishing to have judges comments on their exhibits should mark their entry cards with a large cross in the comment area. : Further information regarding the presentation of exhibits can be obtained from Mrs. Jean Rimmer ( ) or rimmerfarms@talktalk.net : The judge s decision is final.
3 Recipe for Class 86 Please use ON WITH THE SHOW (2012 edition) as a guide THREE HONEY FLAPJACKS INDIVIDUAL SECTION 3 ozs (75g) Margarine 2 good tablespoons of Honey 4 ozs (100g) Porridge Oats 2 ozs (50g) SR Flour 4 ozs (100g) Brown Sugar METHOD Melt Honey, Margarine and Sugar in a pan, then stir in dry ingredients. Pour into a greased shallow tin and bake in a moderate oven for about 20 minutes until golden brown. Cool a little and cut into fingers but leave in tin until cold. Entry Fee: 35p per entry 1 point will be awarded for every entry brought for judging 10 points for first prize 8 points for second prize 6 points for third prize PRESERVES All preserves must be correctly labelled, dated in full, and in PLAIN jars, NEW lids or wax disc with cellophane if appropriate. Entry cards to be attached with shirring elastic. Class 24 Class 25 Class 26 Class 27 Class 28 A Sugarcraft Centre piece for a table Own Choice of Sugarcraft Five Assorted Petit Fours Five Decorated Fancies A Gingerbread House TEDDIES FOR TRAGEDIES Double Knitting Wool Size 10 Needles (3.25 mm) Main Colour for Head and Paws Trouser Colour Jumper Colour Scarf Colour Cast on 10 stiches in main colour and knit 10 rows. Change to trouser colour and knit 30 rows. Make another leg in the same colour. Knit across all 20 stitches and work 16 rows. Change to jumper colour and knit 24 rows. Change to main colour for head and also change to stocking stitch. Work 5½ inches and change to jumper colour. Continue remainder of teddy in reverse order. Stitch down the sides of the head. With jumper colour, pick up 8 stitches either side of the neck join & knit 20 rows. Change to main colour and knit 10 rows for paws. Sew up teddy leaving an opening in the crotch Stuff teddy with only flame-proof padding Draw a thread around neck. Sew diagonal top corners of ears. Sew a happy face on teddy. Scarf: Cast on 60 stitches and knit 4 rows. Cast off.
