1 OPEN QUILTS AND NEEDLE ARTS Director: Rita Bausch Department General Rules 1. All entries can be made using following option: a. ** Online entries see online entry instructions, online entry deadline midnight July 7, 2018 b. Mail in Entries must be received by July 7, Unsigned or incomplete forms will not be processed. 3. Entry fee: $1.00 per entry for adult classes. Entry fees are non-refundable. 4. Youth up to age 17 may enter youth/junior sections/classes at no charge in section 1, classes 16 and 17; section 7. Youth /Junior exhibitors may also enter adult classes under adult rules and entry fees. 5. All adult exhibitors must purchase a season pass ($25.00) or membership pass ($30.00). Membership passes can be sold only to Franklin County residents and include voting privileges for FCAS Board Members 6. Three (3) entries per class maximum. 7. No class changes will be allowed on day of check in. 8. Entry tags may be picked up at the Secretary's Office prior to exhibit drop off and must be securely attached to articles. During drop off hours, entry tags will be available in the Fine Arts building. 9. Entries must be the original work of the exhibitor and not be previous Franklin County Fair first place or best of show winners. 10. All precautions will be taken to protect exhibits from loss or damage, but the Directors, chairpersons and the Franklin County Agricultural Society will not be liable. Nor is any provision made for insurance, which shall be wholly the responsibility of the exhibitor. 11. The Chairperson in charge reserves the right to reject or return all or part of any entry. Soiled or damaged articles will not be accepted. Soiled includes pet hair, odor from cigarette smoke or mildew 12. Any exhibitor who interferes with the judge in any way during the deliberation shall forfeit any and all premiums which may be awarded them. 13. The decision of the judges will be final. 14. Not every class will automatically will be awarded 1 st, 2 nd, and or 3 rd place awards. Awards will be based on The workmanship of the individual items, subject to the discretion of the Judge(s). 15. Exhibits must be brought to the Edwards Building on Thursday, July 12, 2018 between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. 16. Entries must be picked up from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, July 22, You must have claim check to pick up entries. Entries not picked up become the property of the Fair Board. 17. As classes and rules may change on a yearly basis, it is the responsibility of the exhibitor to read and understand currently offered classes and rules and to meet the stated requirements for entry SECTION 1 - QUILTS & WALL HANGINGS 1. All Entries in this Section Must be Made of 3 Layers of Fabric (Top Layer, Batting, Bottom Layer Sewn Together by Hand and/or by Machine Stitching 2. To be included in the program, submit a Quilt Show Description Form for each entry to Marty Rigo 4230 Goldenseal Way, Hilliard, Oh , no later than July 7, This form is located at the end of the Description for this department. 3. Items must have been made in last Five (5) years. 4. Entries may be either hand or machine quilted. 5. Each quilt should have a label on back of quilt identifying owner. Cover label for judging. The label may be uncovered after judging. Note: If the contestants name is sewn into the item, the name must be covered. 6. Each Quilt must have a 4 wide hanging sleeve at the top, securely attached. Miniature quilts must have a 2in. wide hanging sleeve. Any quilt receive without a sleeve will be displayed folded and may not be hung on the display. 7. Attach entry ticket to lower right corner of article with a safety pin. 8. Quilts will be released only to the person with the official entry ticket stub/claim check. 9. Not just a small quilt, but a miniature version of a large quilt Class 18 Miniature (any technique) Other Quilted Items: Class 19 Quilted table runners, placemats, and table toppers Class 20 Quilted garments, purses, and totes Class 21 Other quilted items ( pillows, pot holders, etc.)

3 Community Service Quilts No premiums will be awarded in this section. Ribbon only will be awarded for Judge s Choice 1 st, 2 nd, and 3 rd place Quilts will be donated to the identified community service organization at conclusion of Fair. Class 22 Community Service Quilt The selected service organization for the 2018 Fair is Childhood Cancer Family Connection (formally known as Kids n Kamp). CCFC is devoted to the emotional, social and education needs of children with cancer and their families. All Programs and Activities are uniquely designed to benefit the cancer child, siblings and parents, and are free to the Family. CCFC will distribute the donated quilts to children, between the ages of 12 and 18, who are patients in the Nationwide Children s Hospital The Quilts in this class will be judged as a separate category. First, Second, and Third place ribbons will be awarded Along with a Judges Choice Rosette. The Exhibitor will receive the ribbon and all the Quilts will be sent to CCFC at the End of the Fair. (A release form will be provided to check in.) Youth lap quilts for children between the ages of 12 and 18 must meet the following requirements: The fabric must be of good value 100% cotton. (May use Flannel ) The minimum size is 42 to 54 The maximum size is 54 to 60 The quilt must be quilted, not tied. Note: Charity Quilts do not have to have sleeves added for display purposes.
