1 Page 1 of 8 If you are having trouble viewing this e-newsletter, view this in a browser Dear Quilting Friends, Quilt Show 2015 is now a collection of wonderful, inspiring memories. The show itself was awesome, due to all the exhibitors who were willing to share their fabulous quilts with everyone! If you haven t seen the prize winning quilts, they are posted on our website for all to enjoy. Workshops with Bill Kerr and Mary Clark were greatly appreciated by all who participated. After the dinner lecture, many guests commented that they wished they had signed up for a class with Bill. In future years I encourage you to seriously consider signing up for at least one workshop during quilt show. We select only the best of nationally known teachers who enjoy working with quilters of all skill levels for our quilt show faculty and bring them to you right here in northwest Ohio. Each instructor has years of experience in their area of expertise and have many tips, tricks and concepts to help any quilter stretch and grow in their quilt making skills. Instructors for 2016 will be Sue Nickels (machine quilting on your home sewing machine), Mickey Depre (pieced hexagons), and Janice Vaine ( appliqué and embroidery). Registration for workshops will open in January, but now is the time to think about which teacher(s) you most want to learn from next year! Several of the items we demonstrated during the show are now completed and on display at

New, All Summer Long Shop Hop Many of you are familiar with the Row by Row Experience which debuted last summer.

The paper pieced quilt Flowers Around New York, the visually stimulating Pieced Hexies as well as a variety of new bag and tote samples can all be seen in the shop. The two large quilts, Country Crossroads and Northern Neighbours are still works in progress but complete kits are available for you to get started on your own queen size quilt! New, All Summer Long Shop Hop Many of you are familiar with the Row by Row Experience which debuted last summer. This year 81 shops in Ohio, along with shops in every state and most of Canada are participating in Row by Row and we re excited to announce that Threads of Tradition has our row designed, sewn and on display. We can hardly wait to begin giving out our free pattern beginning on June 21 through September 8. We are currently packaging fabric kits and also have the optional fusible windmill/water pump appliqué in stock. Hopefully you and your quilting friends will plan a road trip or two this summer and be sure to include Threads of Tradition in your plans for the Row by Row Experience! The unique fabric license plates are a fun addition to this new type of shop hop. Our O-H-I-

Fabulous Fabrics We aim to always have a great selection of fabrics for every quilter s style and so new fabrics arrive at Threads of Tradition every week. In order to stay on top of the newest trends, we travel to the fabric show in Houston every October and attend the Shipshewana show in early June as well as scheduling appointments with fabric sales representatives in the shop throughout the year. Some of our most recent favorite fabric groups are: Reel Time, is elegant, chic and contemporary, designed by Zen Chic for Moda. As the collection s name suggests, the overall theme is inspired by elements and colors from the film industry. The color scheme presents appealing contrasts between muted neutrals and brights like warm orange and a fresh olive green, rounded out by small accents in denim blue and coral red. As is desirable in any patchwork collection, this line covers the entire bandwidth of a collection: there are large prints, which can stand alone, such as the large abstract camera lenses, and the very popular typescript Closing Credits. The medium format, multi color and bicolor prints feature patterns and shapes inspired by TV screens, film strips, and movie reels. The smallsized and quieter accompanying fabrics play with symbols, points and dots in various sizes and order. Play with graphic prints and the

These fabrics are printed to reflect the deep textures of a Van Gogh painting and are so realistic you have to touch them to believe that the fabric is actually a flat cotton print! The pattern for this group is named Arles and we have a quilt top sewn and on display in the shop to inspire your creativity with these wonderful, visual textured fabrics and panel. Of course, kits are available as well as yardage. Linda Stuckey has been busy sewing the Chickadee Window quilt top. The fabrics feature lovely hand-painted chickadees nestled in lush foliage, sprinkled with berries. Wonderful paisleys and leaf textures, with a touch of gold metallic add to the elegant presentation. An unusual panel makes this collection really special. Chckadees & Berries is another winning collection from Jackie Robinson, designed for Benartex. Exquisite! Quilt kits, panels and additional yardage are all available at Threads of Tradition.

Other uses include the ability to press intricate piecing, such as one-block wonders and other blocks with intersecting seams. Quilters are excited to have a tool that not only keeps the seams very straight, but also cuts pressing time to a minimum! We carry the Strip Stick in three sizes: the Mini, 18 and Fat Quarter or 22 ½ lengths. I hope this issue of Current Threads has inspired you and exciting new quilting ideas are dancing in your heads. Your creativity continues to amaze us and we always love to see your completed masterpieces! Time to dream, sew and quilt is a real treasure and as creative people we all need to find ways to make time to express our creativity. With that in mind, this will be the last issue of Current Threads that I will be sharing with you. I will be retiring as quilt shop manager as of the end of June and will be turning the management of Threads of Tradition over to the capable hands of Lorraine McNeal. Lorraine and I have been working towards this goal for the last two years and I am confident that she has the vision and the skills to continue to develop Threads of Tradition as your quilt shop of choice into the future. As for me, I look forward to continuing work at Sauder Village in the role of Quilt Show Director. Narrowing my focus to this position will provide me with a more

8 Page 8 of 8 flexible schedule and time for family, volunteer service work, travel, and of course more time to quilt! I am blessed to have had the opportunity to manage Threads of Tradition for so long and to have made many good friends in the process.
