Stash Away Quilt Shoppe is starting a New Year & along with the new year we will be bringing you new projects & groups along with Athe old tried & true. Please read through this newsletter to get all the new information; there are some changes & add-ons. All the staff & friends at the Stash Away wish you a Happy New Year & hope to see you soon. Lynn What s going on at the Stash Away Quilt Shoppe Sit. Sew. Stay. /PHD Club- Meets every Sunday from 11:00am-5:00pm. You can work on any unfinished projects to have to complete. Red Work Club Do you enjoy red work, orange work, blue work, or brown work? Come & share your ideas with others who share your love of this hand work. Come & share your thoughts & ideas about thread & patterns. We meet the 3rd Sunday of each month

2 Needle Punch & Wool Felt Club Rita Hoffman will head this club to share her love of Needle Punch. You will be using the book Punch Needle and Wool Embroidery For All Seasons. Each month will bring a new project for you to complete. This group meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month (check the calendar for any changes) from 5:00pm- 8:00pm. Cost is $2.00 per per person, per class. Knitter s Club All who are interested in knitting, join together & teach each other something new or something old. This group meets every Wednesday from & Friday m. There will be a $2.00 charge per night/day per person for the use of the building. I will provide the coffee or tea. Stop by & see what we are all about. We are open for suggestions. Mystery Pin Cushion of the Month Stash Away Quilt Shoppe will feature a Mystery Pin Cushion every 4th Thursday of the month from 12:00-2:00pm. Join Paula Hosley with a new pattern for a pin cushion for a Make It & Take It project. You must sign up a month ahead so we can prepare the kits. Class is limited to 10 students. The cost is $10 which includes class & kit. Open Sewing We will no longer require that you pay a yearly fee to join this group. Instead, no matter when you come in to hand sew or machine sew you will be asked to pay $5.00. You will continue to receive a punch card that you must have punched. After 5 visits your sixth one will be free. As always those who are machine quilting have the use of the class room tables before those who are hand sewing. Stop by and utilize the new design wall, sandwiching tables, irons and cutting tables. NO SEWING DURING CLASSES & PILATES... Classroom Rules: All classes will start on time. You should arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time of class. If you are not ready, you will have to catch up, the instructor is here to teach the class not just you. Any questions will be addressed to the instructor only. All side bar conversations will stop when the class begins. Everyone learns at a different pace. Wait for the instructor to announce next step before asking what s next. (Be Patient! Listen more, Learn much!) the Snow and Sew Sunday, January 29 th we will be presenting our 2nd Annual Snow & Sew, 8:00am-5:00pm. Snow Shoeing, Cross Country Skiing (permitting there is a snow fall) You can bring your sewing machine, knitting or hand work. During the day we will have demos, door prizes, snow dyeing, scavenger hunt & a winter picnic. We are limited to 20 participants so make your paid reservations soon.

3 Virginia Smith: Quilter of the Quarter... A reception will be held for Virginia on Thursday, January 5 th from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Stop by & talk with Virginia. Virginia is a self-taught seamstress who began making her own clothes as a young teenager. Her first quilting experience was helping her aunt make yoyo s for a summer spread. She continued to sew many of her own clothes & clothes for her five daughters including wedding dresses for each of them. She caught the quilting bug after retiring from teaching third grade in She enrolled in a quilting class at the Rome Art & Community Center taught by famed Rome Quilter, Carol White. She has completed almost 300 quilted items, dolls, & at nearly 92, still sews most days. She continues to make quilts for her children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren, mostly bed sized & hand quilted. This exercise group meets every Friday from 11:30am-12:30pm. Kathy Angelton takes you through an hour of stretching, balance, to maintain our mobility, flexibility & balance as our body ages. is not just necessary for our physical well-being but the laughter & friendships that grow from the group makes this group more than just an exercise group. Session last 8 weeks. $25.00 person. New class starts Friday, January 6 th. **** NEW, NEW, NEW**** Monthly Game Night Game Night will start in February, 1 st Thursday evening of each month from 6:00pm- 8:00pm. The group will be limited to 12 participants only. On February 2 nd, we will hold our first organizational meeting. Call early to make your reservation to be one of the first participant in this new adventure. ****NEW, NEW, NEW**** Civil War Ladies This group will be based on a book by the same name. The organizational meeting to help guide this group will be held on Tuesday, January 24 th from 3:00pm-5:00pm. This group will also be the Discussion Group to assist with the first Annual Canal Fest Quilt Show in August. If you would like to join those who have expressed an interest in the blocks that grew out of the Civil War, join us. If you would like to be part of this group & are unable to make meeting please call the Shoppe.

4 ****NEW, NEW, NEW**** Mug Rug of the Month This year we will be hosting a Mug Rug of the Month as our Monthly project. Each month this group will meet on the 3 rd Saturday of the month from 10:00am-12:00pm. Each student will be provided with the pattern & kit to complete 4 monthly themed mug rugs. Cost is $20 which includes class, pattern & kit. Limited to 5 participants. First come, first serve. Anniversary Sale On January 17 th we will be celebrating our 4 th Anniversary. There will be door prizes & because this is our 4 th Anniversary, it will be represented by flowers. So... all floral fabric will be 15 % off a 1 yard cut. Stop by, celebrate with us & have some anniversary cupcakes with us. Quilt Appraisal with Jennifer Russell Jennifer Russell, Professional Appraiser, will be hosting here to appraise your quilts for you. She will be at the Shoppe, Saturday, February 18th, from 9:30am-5:00pm. If you have a quilt that you want appraised, you MUST call for an appointment as the process takes about ½ hour. You will receive a certificate of the appraisal for insurance purposes. Take advantage of this service. Each appraisal will cost $35. You can call anytime to make you appointment. Private Sewing Lessons Stash Away we are once again offer private beginning sewing lessons (each lesson will be in 2 hour increments). Call & request a time for you & a friend to start your lessons now Friday, February 3rd - Wear Red Day, Heart Association Day Monday, February 20th - Presidents Day Sale-Tuesday Tuesday, February 21st - Fat Tuesday, All Fat Quarters on sale. Thursday, March 1st - National Pig Day, All fabric pink in color will be on sale for $1.00 off each yard, Wednesday, March 7th - Cereal Day-Breakfast with Lynn-6:30am-8:30am. Besides breakfast I will be handing out in store coupons. Heart Association-During the week of March 7th-March 14th you can donate your change from your total sale to the Heart Association. If your bill is $9.73, you can add up and donate the.$.27.
